I don't know the original spec. for the Civile, but pretty much
       anything will fit in there.
My Militare came with a wet battery which died shortly
afterwards, and I stuck in a half dead AGM battery from a Harley
Softail, which was about half the physical size of the wet
battery, and needed packed out to fit the cavernous space of the
battery tray. I don't have electric start, but that battery had
spent the first 8 years and 50,000 miles of its life churning
over 1450 cc of lardy V-Twin, so it's not going to have a
problem starting an NF. I also bought an MBTX30U battery for my
Cali III (same size as Harley Tourers) from Busters, at £74.99
(more like £85 today). I'm pretty sure that would have fitted
the NF cradle, and it's a powerful battery that will do you for
life, if looked after with a tender when not in use.
Full spec, including dimensions, is on here:
  HTML http://www.motobatt.com/MBTX30U?search=MBTX30U
  HTML http://www.motobatt.com/MBTX30U?search=MBTX30U
       Dimensions (in / mm)
       L: 6.54 (166) W: 4.96 (126) H: 6.89 (175) I guess that would
fit in there, but it's almost certainly overkill.
       This was the small battery:

  HTML http://www.motobatt.com/MBTX20U
       L: 6.89 (175) W: 3.43 (87) H: 6.10 (155).
Obviously, there are much cheaper alternatives available, but
I'm old enough to have grown out of cheap batteries...

Looking at the Parts List, the original was a 12V 18Ah.
Gutsibits offer an expensive AGM battery that seems way over the
       top for the job:
Odyssey PC925L battery (as used on our bikes). These are an
exceptionally powerful and reliable battery. This battery should
be mounted on its side to replace the original lead acid
battery. Drycell AGM maintenance free battery
       12 volts
       28 Ah
       500 cranking amps
       52 minute reserve
M6 bolt terminals (car type terminals available separately)
They have the following advantages over conventional batteries:
Produce two or three times the cranking power
       Totally sealed
       Maintenance free
Can be Deep cycled up to 500 times
Will operate at -40 to +70 centigrade
       No recharge when stored
Posted charged and ready to go
       2 year guarantee
Service life of up to 8 years
       Developed for the space industry
They also suggest the Motobatt: MBTX30U battery.
This powerful battery produces a massive 380 cranking amps, and
       is rated at 32 ah.
These sealed absorbed glass matt batteries have been used in
military and off road applications for many years.
They offer increased lifespan, higher vibration resistance and
electrical performance. This battery is also leak, vibration and
       spill proof if installed correctly.
Supplied fully charged and ready to fit.
We recommend the CTEK XS800 charger - ACA66500 for use with this
       battery
NB This battery should not be trickle charged, we recommend Ctek
       charger ACA66500
       Dimensions: L166mm x W126mm x H175mm

have a buddy supplies batteries. must ask him about motobatt.
wouldnt use an odyssey battery as a door stop. hate the things.
had a few problems with them in chops over the years

if you dont mind using the kickstart ,any battery that has more
       than 8 volts will do.
i recycle the batteries from my guzzi twins in the falcone .
if they are too weak for the twins , there is a couple of years
life left in them for a falcone.
the battery tray is the same size as a guzzi twin , so anything
that fits a guzzi twin is going to fit your falcone

The size is confirmned by this advert which puts the size as:
       BATTERIA ORIGINALE +
       2 LITRI DI ACIDO
       MAGNETI MARELLI = YUASA
       MO60-N30L-A = Y60-N30L-A
       12V - 30Ah
Again, it's the same size as V-twins.

I fitted an Odyssey battery years ago, quite a small one. It
handles the dynastart perfectly. Fairly expensive as far as I
recall but definitely worth it for the reliability and longevity
       you get.

for the civil original battery 18 ah, on my civil sport I
mounted a small battery 14 ah which works very well on the model
police and army had mounted a larger battery for the radio and
