petrol tank
By: tonya Date: December 16, 2014, 11:39 am

Hello Guys,
I've just come across some photographs of the bike belonging to
LEAFMAN 60.
That petrol tank is really elegant.
Can anybody tell me where it is from or what bike it is from.
It would transform my N.F. bobber and make it quite handsom I
think.
Happy Christmas everybody !

I'm fairly sure the Leafman's tank is a standard issue tank for
the Civile model. The military and police bikes have the squat
tank while the bikes for public consumption (Civile, Sahara) had
the longer (some may say more elegant, but they'd be wrong)
tank.

Hi Nick,
That sounds logical because it fits so neatly.
Thanks for your reply.
You are obviously a 'short and squat' man !
Now to find a 'Civile' tank for 'The Beast' ?
Any ideas anyone ?

Hi Tony; the Civile tank is hens' teeth territory, but I did
read somewhere that the V35/V50, which is a similar shape, can
be made to fit, and they do come up on eBay periodically. No
idea how much work's involved, or if it's even true.
In saying that, your tank suits your bike.
Brutality is very 'in' you know.... ;D
Here's the Civile:

And here's a V35:

Looks pretty different to me!
And Nick, the Sahara uses short and squat too! It's only the
colour and decals that change.

Pas du tout mon ami! Somewhere in the world will reside a Sahara
with a Civile tank, alongside the infinite number of monkeys
typing out the complete works of Shakespeare....
