       The eBay Optimists thread

I know there are some parts that are unobtanium, and some are
going for eye watering prices, but every so often you come
across one where you wonder what planet they are on. This is one
in question. Yes, it's NOS, and I've never seen another in bare
metal, but a hundred and twenty-five quid for an air-filter box?
I've seen Harley WLA ones for less, and they are much rarer.

The same guy is selling an almost complete V35 engine for less
       money!

You know which one to go for then! The motor looks in pretty
       good shape for that price.
He's also got a pair of rusty but new fork shrouds for the same
       price:

It's bizarre, because as you say, other things seem at quite
       sensible prices.
I suppose it's not surprising that people may view NOS items as
having some elevated value, but in this case, it seems way off
       the mark.
There was a guy selling a horribly rusty blue air cleaner from
(he said) a Swedish army or Police bike.
It kept on appearing at lower prices, until it eventually went
       for about £25 I think.
Of course all the stuff I have is worth far more than that! :D

I seem to remember seeing a while ago a warehouse (in Germany?)
packed full of NF bits, some of them in large metal cages. What
       happened to that lot?

Even better, how about the GTV500 at NLM?

I saw one of these at the S&T run in Crieff. Gorgeous, and note
the suspension under the engine a la Harley Softail.
       Way ahead of its time.

No idea, but I'd like to know. There's also the container load
of parts that was sold at the Yugoslav auction...
I'd have bought them myself if I'd known.
Better than money in the bank...
