Nuovo Regulator
By: Tiny Tim Date: July 7, 2020, 8:20 pm

Good Afternoon
I have been working on a Nuovo Falcone with a velorex sidecar
attachment . It had been sitting for 15 years in upstate NY in
the finger lakes region. It needed the usual going over after
sitting. I was excited after a fair amount of rebuilding and
general maintenance that it started and ran very well on the
first kick! I left the key off kicked it through twice with the
choke on. Turned the ignition on and pow, ran like a champ!
I have a pulsing generator light and I believe the regulator may
be the issue. Any suggestions on a regulator that will be a
close fit? The original Bosch regulators (PN 0190219001) are way
over priced in my opinion! But given they are sparse maybe. In
any even I would rather not cut the stock wiring as it is in
fine shape but will if need be. Can anyone help. Most 12v
regulators of the right type will work. I see a couple VW
regulators that look close but I don't have them in my hand to
check the fit. Maybe someone knows of a close replacement that
fits?

Welcome Tim; should be possible to check that the regulator is
working with the manual and a voltmeter, and although I have
never opened mine, most regulators can be adjusted.
If yours has the Dynastart fitted, it must have the smaller
pulley fitted too, otherwise charge rate will be low.
My charge light flickers at tickover, so that's normal.
Stick a voltmeter across the battery and check voltage; it
should rise of 14V or so with a bit of throttle, and drop to
close to 12V at tickover.
