       Info Wanted please, Dynamo adjuster.
By: philb Date: June 24, 2020, 3:10 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hi Everyone,
Not posted for a while, but still logging in and watching.
       Learning a lot.
What I need please is for someone to measure the adjuster bar
for the dynamo to tension the belt.
I have replaced the belt, found the recommendation on here,
       used a QH 10 x 675.
After much struggling, muttering and swearing, found the simple
       method of fitting.
For those who haven't found it, tie a string round the new belt,
drop the belt over the flywheel, don't tuck it in the
pulley groove but push it into the recess behind the pulley.
Then, using the string pull the top over, then tuck the bottom
       on
the flywheel pulley and the top onto the top pulley, dead easy
       !!
But.......then I can't get any tension on the belt. Manual says
5 - 6 mm, I've got twice that on maximum
       adjustment.
I've failed attach a picture of my adjuster, I've tried
relieving the slot with a file but still nowhere near.
So, have I got the wrong Bar? It seems over-engineered at
5mm thick steel. My overall length is 120 mm
and width (not critical?) is 20 mm. The slot is 40 mm
long by 9mm, but to get the right tension my bar needs to
be about 10 mm longer with the slot reaching to within 5
       mm of the outside face.
What's the measurements of the original, or am I doing
       something wrong (again) ?
Thanks for any info and help with this.
       Phil

After I posted to try to get a photo on, I've had to add another
       thought.
You'll be wondering if I had correct tension before the new
       belt.
NO. It's always been floppy, and slipping.
I've compared the old and new belts, they appear pretty much
       identical.
But now it's slipping so much, the dynamo light stays on.
       My head hurts.

       hello philb
I just measured an original falcone tensioner, it's good
5x20x120x40 you have to choose the different strap on civil or
       military model ;)

       .
Thanks very much for that. It appears I have an original part,
over-engineered like the rest of the bike!
I'm trying a mock-up of a longer piece, just bodged out of an
old gas pipe, to check my theory/guess.
And a wooden wedge to hold it all in approx position. That
looks like it it work, just to make up a steel one now.
       However, there's always a 'however' though, isn't
there?.......My dynamo light is still on !!! More muttering
and swearing. Maybe it wasn't the belt after all.
The warning light was 'pulsing' on/off before I started, now on
       all the time.
Anybody got any thoughts on that, please. ?
       Many thanks, again, monohorizontal,
       Cheers, Phil

Hi again, slow progress, long story, which may involve other
       bikes in a million bits..........
More info please, does anyone have the parts reference number
for the brushes for the dynastart? And a good reliable
       supplier ?
Are they the same as the dynamo, except doubled up? i.e. two
       pairs.
My auto electrician wizard finally has it in bits, full of burnt
carbon etc. but has no reference for the brushes.
       Thanks for any help.
(I need some - everything I touch recently has blown up, Triumph
gearbox, Vito van dashboard, electric sander, the list goes
       on......)
       Cheers. Phil

It appears after much thrashing about on the computer, that the
       correct brushes are......
       BOSCH 2017104105. Set of 4.
Found some at a car parts place in Belgium and another in
       Finland.
But post and taxes add up enough to double the price, 35 Euro
       in Belgium, 39 in Finland.
Anybody know anywhere else ? Hopefully more local to UK.
Gutsibits negative,no replies from other advertisers.
For anyone interested in this the Bosch part number for the
       dynastart is 0010350005.
       PhilB.

.. Just confirm that the above numbers are correct, I managed
to get a set from Belgium with the help of a local, (a mate
       from the F.N. Club)
Saved 35 euro post and packing, so in my hand at 20 euro.
       (Just (?).
Hope this helps anyone else who needs the bits.
Cheers all, specially to monohorizontal, Phil
