dynastarter wiring
By: lee Date: May 8, 2018, 12:39 pm

Hi all
Ive just fitted a dynastarter to my NF. Needed some fettling,
but it's in and working OK as an alternator . But I cant figure
out the wiring to use it an a starter , particularly as it
relates to the regulator - I'm wondering if I need a different
regulator .
I wondered if anyone has a wiring diagram please ( dynsastarter
available new from

/>)
Thank you

Welcome Lee,
the Dynastarter was originally foreseen for the Civile version
and few late version of the Militare ( Sahara)
the regulator of the Civile is different from the one of the
Militare
here below the link for the wiring diagram of the Civile with
the Dynastart

Morning Randall
Thank you- that is very helpful - you seem to know the detail -
to press that point , I dont suppose you happen to know what
regulator spec might fit- I tried googling NF civille regulator
and drew a blank.
Sorry to be asking questions and taking - over time I hope to be
able to contribute as well.

Hello Lee,
at that time it was foreseen a Bosch regulator with the
following code:
regolatore Bosch Cod 190 219 001/5 used in combination with the
Bosch Dynastart with the code:
Cod. Bosch 00 10 35 0005 - J—> 14V 11 A32 12V 1 PS
as an alternative, a relay can be added to use the Militare
regulator as indicated on the here below link:
HTML http://nuovofalcone.com/Rep-Dinamo-Motore_image001.jpg
it is recomended to use the correct type of regulator with
correct type of Dynastart

Thanks for help everyone
Dynastarter fitted - took a bit of effort to be honest - ended
up buying a regulator and solenoid from Paul at
HTML http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/dynastarter-kit-shop.phprater<br
/>
I must say it's transformed the bike . I hurt my knee before
Christmas (trying to start a recalcitrant Royal Enfield, but
thats a different story ....) , and I was finding kickstarting
the NF, especially as its on the left very difficult . Now it
spins over very nicely with decompressor pulled in, let decomp
out and it fires up beautifully .
Only remaining niggle is that it needs more revs than I
normally use to charge - I put an 80mm pulley on (not an expert
on pulleys , but assume the measurement is across the flat ,
between the widest outside points), and that evidently isnt
small enough ,so I'm going to put somethign smaller on -
probably 70mm.
Do any members know the standard fan belt length of the NG ?
I'll need to put a shorter one on if I go to an even smaller
pulley.
Thanks all
Lee

Hello Lee,
with the Dynastarter, it is absolutely important, to
avoid damage to the appliance, also fit the reduced 73 mm pulley
- The measurement of the belt, although the distance is
adjustable (through the slotted hole on the anchor plate), for
the smaller pulley, must be reduced.
For the 90 mm pulley the measurement is 10 mm x (approx.) 666
mm.
For the 73 mm pulley, the length can be reduced up to (approx.)
645 mm.
(lower measurements, not allowing the passage around the
flywheel, would make it essential to disassemble the same, to
replace the belt)

Hello Randall
I have a question - and I rather suspect that given your
expertise, it may not be the last .....
Ive drawn a blank on obtaining a smaller pulley for the
dynastarter - at the mo I am going to ask a freidn of a friend
to machine one for me . I know he can do this, but it will take
quite a bit of time , and if you by any chance knew of any
suppliers, that would be very helpful, and yet again, i'd be
most grateful .
Tell me to stop asking for help if this is too much ...
Lee
