Camshaft Specifications?
By: patentgeek Date: April 26, 2018, 2:02 pm

Does anyone have specifications for the camshaft?
My NF came with a complete engine in the bike and the remains of
an engine that threw a rod. I removed the camshaft to install a
high capacity oil pump, and while the cam was on the bench, I
noticed that the cam profile was significantly different than
the spare camshaft from the blown up engine. Links to
comparison pics are below.

The lower profile cam has a 23mm root diameter (both lobes) with
an intake peak of 27.7mm and an exhaust peak of 26.7mm.
The lumpier profile cam has a 23.5mm root diameter (both lobes)
and intake and exhaust peaks of 30.4mm.
When I posted this on the Facebook forum, Jake B. responded that
the stock cam specs are 23.5mm root diameter (both lobes), an
intake peak of 30.2mm, and an exhaust peak of 29.5mm. Although
he thinks those measurements were taken from somewhat worn cams.
The lower profile cam is significantly different than the
lumpier cam, but the cam surfaces appear to be in pretty good
shape, so I have a hard time believing it has significant wear.
Thoughts?

From the Adventure Rider site:
===============
From my 1970 model :
Inlet: diameter 23,5 mm and 29 mm height
Outlet: diameter 22 mm and 28,2 mm height ( and open for a
shorter time)
From my civile 1974:
Inlet: diameter 23,5 mm and 30,2 mm height
Outlet: diameter 23,5 mm and 29,5 mm height
This two ones are not new but in good condition.
I hope it's a help for you

Should be the 'same' cloggy, as there is only one part number.
Looks like they mayhave made some changes over the course of
production, but didn't change the part number to suit
