New Guzzi Owner
By: Rob_Zelf Date: September 13, 2017, 11:09 am

Hi All, I JUST agreed to owning my very first Guzzi - a Military
NF500 with electric start! I've always liked these bikes and
only a few hours ago I agreed to the purchase. I am no novice in
(classic) motorcycles and own a squad of ducati bevels
(60..70's), a handful of MV's singles and yes, fours and a
handful of modern(ish) beemers for everyday use. I am however a
Guzzi-novice.
I have always liked the military bikes which is why I also own a
brace of Condor A350's.
Any questions - feel free to ask. I will be interested in
maintenance tips, spare parts (not that I need any as yet) and
traveling tips. I enjoy riding as well as owning these old
bikes.

No I'm not member of the dutch forum. Should I be? Tuesday the
Mighty NF will arrive and I'll start fiddling with the
thing.....

There are several guys within the MGCN who also own a Falcone.
We have a pretty activ Classic Department. Third friday in
november we have the
Klassieker Winteravond, in Tienhoven. This time about special
Guzzi singles.

Turns out: I have an account there (Rob_Zelf) since 2009. It all
came back to me: I was fiddling with another military Guzzi: the
V35. I was working on it for a mate and signed up to that forum
and subsequently forgot about it :)
I penciled the Winteravond in my calendar. Just not sure I am
around then.

Welcome Rob; you will find the NF is very different to the
Bevels, and ewven the Condor, but equally enjoyable if you're
not in a hurry... ;)

Thanks Banquo. No, I'm not in any hurry. Tootling around at
60-80kph, enjoying the scenery is fine for me on bikes like
this.
Not sure how to post any pics on this forum but I was surprised
at the odometer reading of less than 1000km! Judging by the
other bits on the bike (tyres, wear on seat, grips and pedals) I
am close to believing it.

It's possible; mine had about 100 km on it when I bought it in
2002, but I'd be surprised to find one today. There was a batch
of imports from Italy over a period of a few years. I think they
were assembled from parts, as some parts were new, and some very
second hand. Yours has been modified though, as the Militare
didn't come with electric start.
There's no facility for adding photos on here. We had a small
free forum allowance, but that was full after a few weeks. The
only option is to link to photos stored somewhere that supports
3rd party hoting, such as Flickr. We used to suggest
Photobucket, but you may have seen that hundreds of forums have
lost their pictures following Photobucket's ransomware scandal.
