Hello!

Just saying 'Hello' as requested!
Iwas told of the VOC by one of you who attended the Scottish
Rally this year...
Got my Nuovo for quite a number of years now - but she's
poorly!! Keeps blowing headgaskets... Anyone know of a source
for some solid copper ones, or otherwise heavy-duty? (94mm bore,
so no metal ledge on the top of the bore anymore.....)
Thanks!
Peter

Hi Peter, and welcome. That was me you were speaking to at
Thornhill. Hope your move has gone OK.
There was some discussion about copper base gaskets, but if
IIRC, the outcome was that nobody actually sold one, but they
could be fabricated pretty easily from copper sheet, and then
annealed before use. Someone else may have a positive response
for you, but there's not much traffic on here these days, and
most use the Facebook Group.

Hi there!
Hope you made it home OK - she was playing up a bit if I
remember correctly!
Yes, move all finished, sweating as we speak... (but that may
also be due to the amount of Sangria.... :)
My problem is that the compression has ended up being slightly
too high, and that due to the big bore and the missing metal
ledge it all works together at destroying one headgasket after
the other!
A copper one (why annealed?) seems a much better idea somehow. I
remember from Classic Minis that one can get standard composite
headgaskets which aren't worth the effort of installing them,
and special competition ones which last. Considering that there
is someone in the Netherlands who races a turbocharged or
compressor-fitted Nuovo, there MUST be some alternative about
somewhere...
Ah well!
So what's the FB group called then? I'm in the Club one and the
V7 one, but haven't seen yours yet!
Cheers
Peter

Here you are Peter:

I fixed that problem (carburettor issue) but now have an issue
with very noisy valve gear.
Another problem to resolve!
For the annealing, my understanding is that the copper needs to
be soft to form into the peaks and troughs of the mating faces,
and make an effective seal. I'm open tobeing contradicted on
that though....
