Better oilpump???

Hello,
Please forgive a new member a longer intro, but a real fan will
understand, that if there is a problem with the bike, not the
bike feel ill, but the owner...
So the realy important first...
my NF, which i have since 15 years, needs (after 60000 km) a new
oilpump.
I dont want to replace it with the ( besides hefty expensive)
original, but with a improved, better version.
(the v7 version should fit with a few alterations...?)
There are everywhere rumors and hints to better oilpumps, but no
real offer.
So my question is, does anybody know where i get one???
Pete
currently ill, because of - read from the beginning :'(

Hello Pete,
I use this one:
HTML http://www.stein-dinse.biz/Moto-Guzzi/Motor/Oelkreislauf/Oelpumpe-Zubehoer/Oelpumpe-gr-Mod-Spezial::1248.html
And here a way to make it fit:

for fixing the gear wheel you will need a little slotted tapered
bush a friend lathed for me and a higher feather key you can
easily cut out of a washer with a Dremmel
Good luck

Great,
thanks for the link, even with pictures!
Basically exactly what i had in mind, only the lathed slotted
tapered bush will (for me) a challenge to get...

Hi Pete,
I cut the slot with the dremmel too. If you dont find a way to
organise the bush let me know. I will order some for me and so
also 1 more for you...

You know, it's really nice to see in this world of conflict, how
people who don't know each other, but have a common interest,
are so willing to help each other out.
Thanks for that Kater; it restores some faith in humanity.
And Pete, welcome to our forum, and hope you and your bike get
better soon. :)

Thanks for your words of wisdom banquo, yes, the world would be
better place if people would be more like us, the NF maniacs...
;D
And Kater, very nice offer !!, i will contact you.
First i have to buy the oilpump and have a close look at it.
(have you considered to weld the hole from the sprocked shut,
and redrill it straight , instead of the brush? The sprocket
tightly fixed of course against warping because of the heat)
Just to make sure, we speak both from the same oilpump called
spezial (160.- euro) and not the original for almost 300.- ?
(both are on the site you linked...)
Bye the way, have you seen the pump for the V7 ? looks ident
with the NF, even the brush part. Downside, more than 100.- more
than the "spezial"...
Greetings
Pete

Here's a modified Daytona pump I bought from a guy in the
Netherlands from the advrider forum, but haven't yet fitted.

Shows how the mounting holes were sleeved and re-drilled to fit
the NF mounting holes. The pump has 21mm gears, so higher output
than the stock pump.
The V7 pump I believe has 16mm

Woww!!
That's an impressive piece.
21 mm gears, that should almost double the peformance of the
stock pump!
And it has even the brush part, but i wonder that this monster,
which is so much higher than the original, fit exactly with the
sprocked in the right place to the camshaft sprocked ...
My guess is, that whoever that build, take something from the
material of the underside away to make it fit.
But if so, it had to be done with the gears too, and in that
case they can't still 21 mm (if the 21mm are original)
Nevertheless , if you still have the original pump in your NF, i
would suggest to mount that thing as quick as possible.
Pete
(realy jealous now...)

There's nothing been taken from the underside, and the gears are
still 21mm.
I'm told it fits, and there is good experience of fitting this
pump.
I'm not convinced that an upgraded pump is required for a stock
engine that is in good condition.
Perhaps it's needed when people modify the oiling to include
additional lubrication lines that did not exist on the stock
engine, or as an Elastoplast for worn timing side bushing and
loss of pressure.
There seem to be plenty of engines out there with high mileage
and most have stock oil pumps.
When I get time, I'd like to fit an oil pressure gauge, to see
what's going on in there...
