Coil issues ?
By: David Gilli Date: September 26, 2016, 8:40 am

Hi to all,
Having erratic starting characteristics got me thinking about a
replacement coil.
Spark seems weak to me...and rather warm/orange in colour.
Battery is good.
Does anyone have a thought about a source of a replacement coil
for the NF ? I am guessing they would not be that unusual.
When it starts it starts easily.
Thanks for reading.
Good riding to all.

Hi David,
you can use almost al classic 12 V coils without an internal
resistor. But I think not the coil bring your problems,
I guess the capacitor is gone and the breaker contacts are old
too. I had the same problem and don't buy an NOS capacitor, they
are all not working. Maybe you can prove it at an old fashioned
car electric shop.
Good luck
Kater

Hello All,
I am grateful for the reply from Kater whose generous spirit I
have noted on the Adventure Rider Forum Nuovo Falcone section.
So now I am seeking advice on where to find good instructions on
how to replace points and condenser/capacitor...have noted some
on Paul Friday's Resources...
Does anyone else have ideas on this topic ?
I wonder if there is now available a wheel marked in degrees
which could be useful in this procedure ?
I am sure I have seen one somewhere.
Any help...online or off...would be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

I reset my timing to the scratch mark someone preceeding me had
helpfully marked up. The muppet before me had not noticed this
and it was running at least 20 degrees out, as far as it was
possible to wrongly set it....... Worth a look!

Sorry; missed this until today.
I don't like to disagree with my friend Kater, but your symptoms
are exactly the same as mine were when the original Bosch coil
gave up.
I replaced it with a BL Mini coil from Halfords, and no issues
since.
Points come up on eBay on an irregular basis; there were some
earlier this week.
Here they are:

and here's a condenser, although I'm sure you could get a car
part from the local store that would do the job.
