       How olds my bike?
       By: Bruno Date: May 21, 2016, 2:59 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       According to Mario Colombo's book,The Complete History, the
       police and military NF's had frame numbers from NF 00 AA to
       frame NF 99 GH.
       I don't know how this system works but my bike must be an early
       one,with frame number NF 04 AT
       My frame is also stamped DGM 63570M
       Does anyone know how the system works?

       Hello, my name is Vince, and I just introduced myself on the
       relevant section of the forum;
       The numbering sistem of the NF is very simple; it starting from
       NF 00 AA and continue with NF01AA , NF 02 AA
       untill NF 99 AA ( and every hundred bikes change the
       alphabetical letter) the next will be NF 00 AB and so on till
       NF 99 AB ,in this way continued NF 00 AC ...etc;till the last
       number; with this sistem you can made an estimation how hold is
       your bike;
       To know the exact date of production the best way is to ask the
       Certificate of Origine to Piaggio via the Moto Guzzi site it
       cost approx 90 € if I remember well;
       Regards,
       Vince

       I had thought this was how it works,but this cannot explain how
       the last bike made was NF 99 GH.

       I'm not an expert in mathematic but I suppose that when the
       second letter of the series is reaching the NF99AZ
       than the first letter moving to NF 00 BA till is reaching NF 99
       GH ;
       NF - two numbers (00 to 99) - two letters (AA to GH);
       Every 100 numbers, change a letter (AA, AB, .... AZ, BA etc.).
       ( remind that 13400 NF Military have been produced)
       Hoping that this will help you in order to know how many bikes
       were produced before your NF, bearing in mind that the italian
       alphabet do not foreseen letter J -K-W- X- Y  ;)

       Thanks Vince
       My black military is 39 AB and the engine is stamped in three
       places as follows:
       1. front left main casing at sump level 86
       2. front right main casing at sump level A 86 tho the (A) looks
       a little different in the depth of the marking ???
       3. front of the right side (clutch) casing 86 next to the small
       passage drilling
       I don't know if the engine numbers mean anything or are just a
       matching method on assembly.
       This is probably a very early frame 139th if the method is
       good.
       I do not know a great deal about it except that Leo Tamers
       tells me he believes it was the daily ride for his long time
       mechanic. The bike has been repainted black with white
       pinstriping and has a transfer on the rear mudgaurd under the
       top coat of paint (KONINKLIJKE MARECHAUSSEE) The Dutch Military
       Police.
       I purchased it with Leo's help from the decease estate and
       shipped it to Australia 18 mths ago

       Hi Contractor,
       first of all , congratulation for your NF,
       it is correct , with the number NF 39 AB, yours it is the moto
       nr.139 produced; ;)
       The motor block number is consisting on the letter A followed
       with sequential numbers XXXX and is not matching with the frame
       number;
       Enjoy your NF
       Kind regards
       Vince
