       Helmet

       Hello All,
A subject which concerns us all....helmets! (yes, I know, but
it could have been an oil thread ! :) )
At an advanced age and getting back on the road after a long
absence, my riding confidence is low.
Although I still have open faced helmets and have always
preferred them, I am thinking it would be wise to invest in a
       full-face or modular helmet.
I have my eye on the Schuberth C3 Flip helmet. If it is to be a
flip helmet I am thinking it would be wise not to buy the
       cheapest one.
I am wondering if there might be anyone who has one who would
like to offer any opinions on it ?
From early research they seem to go for around £300 unless
anyone has found a cheaper source.
Also, if you were considering it and ended up buying another
helmet could you suggest a close competitor for consideration ?
Thanks for your time and effort.

Hi I also have a caberg flip front for long trips. I did about
4000 miles to Southern Italy and back with it very comfortabe
and easy to get up and down. Effective ventilation. I have a
caberg open front for more local stuff with a flip screen and a
flip sun visor too. Much lighter than the flip front. The sun
visor is very useful too as it means no sunglasses needed.
Peripheral vision much better on the flip screen than the flip
front. I would try a few on at dealers before committing
       yourself.
       Hope that helps a bit

       Hello David,
two weeks ago a had an "big bang" with my NF and I was wearing a
Schubert C3. My speed was over 50 kph, I don't know any details.
The helmet is very good, comfortable, silent and saved my head.
I will buy the same type as it is damaged, it's really a good
       choice!
Here a part from my posting in an other forum:
And please wear always a sort of closed helmets, with an open
old styled one my face would have been destroyed and at least a
good protection jacket und biker shoes!
Here from the daily upperaustrian radio news:
       Motorcyclists landed in truck
An unusual accident happened on Thursday in the district of
       Wels-Land . A motorcyclist was thrown after a collision with a
small truck against the windowpane , broke through this and hit
       the driver .
A fraction of a second decided on these difficult and unusual
accident , it brought a policeman to the point. The starting
point of the accident between the small truck and the motorcycle
must have been a priority infringement at an intersection
between the Offenhauser and Pennewanger street. The driver of
the small truck should have there overlooked the motorcyclist .
       Truck driver suffered serious injuries
The motorcycle crashed into the driver's door of the van . Then
hit the 58 -year-old biker with helmet against the window pane .
The force of the impact was so great that the glass shattered .
The motorcyclist jumped almost headfirst into the van . This was
mainly for the 53 -year-old small truckers consequences ,
because the biker bounced his helmet against him . The 53
-year-old wore substantial injuries and had to be flown by
emergency helicopter in the Klinikum Wels . The motorcyclist was
also injured and admitted to care in the hospital.

       Hi David,
I had a C3 for several years (bought in Andorra, tax free!). I
       liked it very much.
The ventilation was very good, particularly in the summer. The
only downsides I found were that with the front lower vent open,
which was most of the time, when it rained the water got onto
the inside of the visor. Also, the fog city inner started to
       leak after a while.
I now have a Shoei Multitec, which is also good, but the
ventilation is not as good as the C3, but I ride with the visor
cracked open most of the time anyway.
