Firstly, the Cali III. I neither needed nor wanted another bike,
but the offer was too good to pass up. It belonged to a Harley
riding mate, who bought it new (pre-Harley), went his honeymoon
on it around Europe, put 40,000 miles on it and thought he would
still use it after he got the Harley (as well as the green and
red V11 that also resides in his garage). He found the same as I
found, that the Cali and the Harley do the same job, and it
spent several years not turning a wheel in his garage, just as
it's done in mine now I have it. Great to ride when I get the
chance, with good handling from the Tonti frame, and powerful if
wooden Brembos. With the new on-line tax though, I'm wondering
about taxing one bike, SORNing it at the end of the month,
getting a refund, and then taxing another for the next month or
two. I'm fed up paying tax on bikes I'm not using enough. (+1 to
       the NF, cos it's free!)

Next, the blue FXST Harley, only the second new bike I've ever
bought (after a brief relationship with a Suzuki T250J in 1972).
Currently off the road, awaiting me getting my act together, and
fitting new cams, tensioners and various other bits it needs
after its 50,000 miles or so.

To keep me going, we purchased an identical model from a mate,
paying slightly over the odds, because you don't want to haggle
with mates, and it had the benefit of being local. He also
stored the NF for a very long time, after I dropped it off when
collecting the Harley, and never got around to picking it up
again, as it needed work doing (steering head bearings and a
puncture). This Harley replaces the long distance duties of the
blue one, and is comfortable now that the stock seat has been
junked in favour of a Saddlemen alternative. 500 mile days no
problem, and despite what everyone says about Harleys, both have
been reliable, fast enough, handle OK-ish, and the brakes work
as well as you can expect when your laden weight is half a ton!

As you can see, it's also the 2-up bike, as my better half
refuses point blank to go anywhere on "The Tractor"....
