       nf gearbox
       By: grumpy1 Date: March 13, 2015, 2:56 pm

having had no gears in my box decided todayto have a look, bought
the bike this way,by the way. Took off the gearbox/clutch side
casing. And noticedthat behind the clutch basket the selector
thingy had only 2 pins sticking out and as far as I know should
have 3. so I presume this is most of my problem? anybody know
can this be repaired by engineer or do I replace drum
altogether. This is the circle behind the clutch basket which
has the 3 prongs. If you know what i mean

There are a number of gearbox posts by Nitram and Kater towards
       the end.

       Hi Grump,
Mine has three pins, and they're firmly affixed. Sounds like
one of yours has fallen out or broken. It'd be a shame to have
to strip the motor just to fix that, if it's a simple matter of
finding a hardened steel pin and loctiting it in the hole.
Should be a pretty simple fix. Unless of course it's broken off,
which could be a bit tricky......
Let us know how you go.
       Cheers,
       Nitram

afraid its broken off flush. have an engineer buddy coming to
look at it later before I start stripping. balls balls balls

well buddy reckons drill it, tap it and use slide hammer to get
out piece. then fit newly made pin in its place. fingers crossed

I know it's the $64,000 question, but have you found the bit
       that's broken off?
Good luck with the removal; I take it from the slide hammer that
it's blind, or that you can't get behind it to drive it out?
If the worst comes to the worst, it can possibly be removed by
EDM. People use that for stud removal, etc. but I guess you
would need to find someone local with the equipment....

have to split the engine to get behind. so hoping tapping and
       slide hammer works

What part takes the load of the slide hammer, when it's
       transferred via the pin?
Is there a risk of breaking whatever the selector bears against?
       Just a thought.
I'm having visions of the selector escaping through a new hole
       in the casing.... :o
