Isaac's Special Walkthrough to Defeating the Three Mechanical
Bosses
DIR By: Isaac
Date: April 29, 2015, 6:10 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
*This is an official guide now, I guess, since a lovely
man named Bert wanted it to be :3*
Keep in mind that this guide is intended for those having issues
with the three mech bosses in their Singleplayer world(s).
Armor and Weaponry
- Have at least full Titanium / Adamantite armor before fighting
ANY of these bosses. Make sure you use the Melee-specific
helmets, for they offer far more defense.
- You can either set all your accessories to Menacing or to
Warding. Just think about it to yourself for a few moments and
decide whether or not you'd like to inflict mightier blows or
take more hits.
- Have the Adamantite Glaive / Titanium Trident for them. The
spears attack multiple enemies at once, and could be useful for
certain situations.
- Have either a Megashark or Clockwork Assault Rifle. If you
have either, set your Megashark to Unreal, and your CAR to
Rapid.
- Have Healing objects nearby, such as a Campfire and a Heart
Lantern for extra healing
THE DESTROYER
This ****er has a whopping 80,000 HP to get through, so avoiding
his attacks will be crucial.
- Make a box: Try to make a box at least 10 blocks or so above
the ground, and at least 30x15 (30 blocks tall by 15 blocks
wide), line the inside with platforms for you to stay on top of,
and try avoiding his initial strikes, for they can damage you
for up to 50 HP.
- Mind the timing of an upcoming attack: The Destroyer's body
will slow down a bit, before moving quicker again. The
burrowing noise will also indicate when he's close to emerging,
so keep that in mind too.
*Note: Make sure you see which direction he burrows back down
in (Ex. He emerges from the right and burrows down in the left)
He will most likely emerge near or directly below you, so make
sure you're ready for stuff like that)
- Your Positioning: Keep yourself to the side of his outer fold.
Here's a small example to what I mean [ The parenthesis " ( )"
are The Destroyer btw]:
) You - If his body is like this, stay to the right
and attack for more damage potential
You ( - If his body is like this, stay to the left
and attack for more damage potential
- The Probes: They can be an issue if not dealt with, but this
is why you are in the box. They cannot attack you whilst they
are outside of the box, but when they come rushing in, prepare
to attack them with your spear, and grab any hearts they may
drop, for they can heal you for a quick 20 HP. It's nothing
much, but it's saved me a bunch of times.
If you keep this up for the whole battle, you should be fine.
This may take multiple tries.
THE TWINS
Two annoying ****heads, or should I say ****EYEs. HA HA H- ah
nevermind...
- Retinazer, or Laser-show as I call him, has 20,000 HP, and
turns into Mech Retinazer at 8,000 HP
- Spazmatism, or Morning-breath as I call him, has 23,000 HP,
and turns into Mech Spazmatism at 9,000 HP
- Make a sky Platform: Make a very long sky platform (preferably
out of Wood Platforms), to however high you'd like it to be in
the sky, for running across. Not having a stable surface could
be a disadvantage for you.
- Focus on Spazzy: He loves to dick with you the most, for his
damage is a bit more higher than Ret's. He is the most
difficult of the two, imo.
- The Mech forms: [i]**Try to always focus on one eye first
(preferably Spazmatism first), and then the last, because
fighting both of their mech forms at once with poor armor and
weapons is VERY terrifying and painful, and most always leads to
certain death.**
Once they turn into their Mech forms, they become a lot more
serious, so dodging is absolute key. Spaz will shoot ****ing
flames from his mouth constantly, as if he was trying to be some
sort of dragon ****, but will also lunge at you 6 times with
incredible speed (during this attack is when he stops breathing
flames). Taking a hit from one of Mech Spaz's charges is like
getting hit by a damn 52-foot truck going 70 MPH...it's not good
at all. Mech Ret is not that big an issue, but the more HP he
has depleted, the faster his lasers will shoot. He basically
goes from "pew" to this:

- Clockwork Assault Rifle or the Megashark: Either one of these
guns work well. Like I said way earlier, I prefer to set the
CAR to Rapid, since it cannot receive the Unreal prefix, and the
Megashark to, obviously, Unreal. Use Crystal Bullets during
this fight, for the shards deal extra damage per bullet. I
forget the exact percentage, but with the shards also hitting
enemy (usually around 3-5 dispersed per bullet collision) can
make a 30 DMG bullet become 40-55 DMG altogether. Megashark is
more preferable imo, but CAR works just as well.
If you keep all these in mind, I'm sure you'll be fine.
SKELETRON PRIME
This big, ****ing four-armed, hungry hippo-animated death
machine. He's my worst nemesis in this game.
- Skeletron Prime has 28,000 HP, and his four appendages have:
-Prime Cannon: 7,000 HP
-Prime Laser: 6,000 HP
-Prime Vice: 9,000 HP
-Prime Saw: 9,000HP
- Make a Platform platform: What I mean by that is make a
platform out of wood platforms and whatnot. The reason being is
that his bombs shot out of the Prime Cannon only explode if they
hit a solid surface, but the platforms do not count as one.
- Prime Vice and Prime Saw: These two appendages deal a lot of
damage if they impact you, so avoiding them is very very
important. You can try and destroy them, but it will waste more
time trying to take down Prime himself.
- Focus on Prime's head: His head is obviously the main focus.
The appendages will get in the way, causing some issues, but try
to attack whenever there is an opening.
- Megashark: Megashark, without a doubt, is the most important
weapon of choice in this fight. Use Cursed Bullets, for the
extra damage. The Cursed debuff can prove to be beneficial.
Crystal bullets are basically useless, since Prime is a bit of a
tank. The shards will do little to nothing to prime. Hell,
even the bullet itself does little to nothing.
- The time: I guess this is not too much an issue to deal with,
unless you are playing in Hard-core difficulty, but he will
obviously turn into Dungeon Guardian Prime once daytime arrives,
resulting in instant death when he collides into you.
I guess keep all these in mind and you should make it out.
Personally, this boss used to take me dozens of tries in 1.1
BUFFS
Use the following buffs throughout all of these fights:
Ironskin
Regeneration
Well Fed
Campfire (from a nearby campfire site)
Heart Lantern (from a nearby heart lantern site)
That's pretty much all that's needed to be said for these
fights. Hope this helps anyone out in their SP worlds.
