Banning Regulations

Here is an outline of when someone should or should not be
banned..
[*]Griefing - User should not be banned on sight. If you find
someone has griefed and they are NOT currently online, you
should first type /reportgrief and then alert the first
available superadmin you can find. If the user IS currently
online, you should utilize your /freeze command and ask them why
they destroyed the structure. If they cannot give a logical
explanation then you can ban them for 24 hours and create a
topic in this board with the details of the ban.
*If they return after 24 hours and grief again, you may issue a
permanent ban and update your posting.
[*]Hacking - User should not be banned on sight. If you feel
that someone is hacking, you need proof before you can act. If
you have proof of harm, you should be asking them nicely to turn
off their hacks and read the guidelines for allowed hacks. If
they are not causing any harm, or breaking the rules for using
Infinest, let them carry on. You should issue a 1st warning that
if they do not comply they will be temporarily banned. If they
refuse to do so then you may ban them for 24 hours and post your
report in the Banned Players thread. If they return after the
ban expires and continue to hack, you may issue a 2nd warning to
tell them they will be permanently banned if they continue. If
you have proof that they are still hacking, you may ban them
permanently and update your posting.
[*]Giving out Items - User should not be banned on sight. If you
see a player that is giving out an item for free, this is not a
means to ban them forever from the server. You should simply be
asking them not to do so. Most people will comply with this
rule without hesitation, provided you ask them nicely. If they
refuse, or continue to give out items, you may issue a 1st
warning that they need to stop or they will be temporarily
banned. If they continue after the first warning, you may ban
them for 24 hours and create a new topic in this board with the
details of the ban. If they return and continue to give out
items, you may issue a 2nd warning and let them know if they
don't stop they will be banned forever.
*Note: Giving out one or two items does not warrant a ban, but
only a warning. It's the people that constantly give out dozens
of items to multiple players that we need to watch out for.
[*]Rudeness/Disrespecting Staff or other Players - This is a
tough one to outline, because some of you guys have very thin
skins. As a member of staff people are going to dislike you, and
challenge what you say. Your job is to make them understand why
things are the way that they are. If someone calls you a name
one time, big deal, it happens, it's not abuse unless they
repeatedly insult you. Give them a mute for a little while and
they usually smarten up. Personal bans should be very rare. The
tone you guys often take with people provokes their behavior.
Many of you talk as if you're better than the default players
which is unacceptable. We are all meant to be one big community.
If someone breaks a rule, that is not a reason to belittle them
as if they are garbage. Not everyone reads the rules, this is
the internet, not everyone can be smart, and you need to
understand that. If you do not want to be a staff member then
you don't have to be. I am the server owner and even I don't
give a **** when someone calls me a name, I laugh at it. Don't
take things to heart so much. If someone is constantly
criticizing yourself, other players, or the server, then yes,
you may issue them a warning and then a temporary ban for 24
hours. If they return and continue to do so, you may issue a
permanent ban.
Kindness goes a long way, even on the internet. Many people will
comply with the rules if they are asked to in a polite manner.
When you immediately freak out on someone for breaking a rule,
they are less inclined to listen to what you have to say. Keep
that in mind.
ALL bans should be accompanied by a specific reason
otherwise the ban will be deleted.
ALL bans should be documented in the form of a new topic in the
Staff Only
HTML http://www.nalah.info/staff-only!/
section of the
forum!
The command for issuing a temporary ban is as follows;
/ban addtemp <player> <time> <reason>
Example: /ban addtemp Nalah 24h Griefing
The time stated on the ban should NEVER be more than 24 hours
unless permanent.
If you are still unsure how to issue a temporary ban, please
reach out to Bert for guidance.
[i]*If any staff member fails to read this announcement and
follow my guidelines you will be demoted immediately.
Staff members should always be checking the forum for updated
announcements in order to do their job properly.
