3rd phase of the AvA war strategy
By: Warg Date: December 1, 2013, 5:56 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hi guys I have been thinking about the next phase of the AvA war
and how we might get some rewards.
At this point we don't know if we will be getting any rewards
from the 2nd phase or if the reward criteria will change (since
it did between the first and second phase)
But assuming that it doesn't change too drastically, each of the
six kingdoms has a first place and second place reward, they
also have a kingdom specific rewards. In our case since we
specialized in the north it is defender of the north, for the
most successful defenses. We probably won't get that one. We are
not fighting against any strong alliances currently, which I
think is the right strategy. Repairing camps is very expensive
and dead SS take money and time to replace. Instead of attacking
and being attacked by other strong alliances we have made
friends with and are bartering and aiding them.
Since we are fighting this war peacefully I think we should
focus on a region that might reward us for that. Those regions
are The Reach and The Westerlands. Barter is the most useful
action in the AvA war. It gains us victory points, silver
towards upgrading our camps and helps us build alliances. I
think if we focus first on bartering in the westerlands and
second on aiding in the reach, we may have a better chance of
       winning rewards.

Wow - You have a sharp tactical eye Jaqen. I think you could be
right. I was looking through the lists and we have many, many
       friends and very few enemies.

I agree with your analysis Jaqen. I have recently reincarnated
(for the last time) and should be definitely more than ready for
the beginning of the rhird phase ;)

       Hi Jaqen/Warg!
Thanks again for you initiave! It's always good to know we can
share our experiences here on the forum and talk about any
       subject.
I like the way you guided strategy: looking for a possible
reward following the same strategy from begiining to the ending
of AvA. I'd like to post sth about that after this first post.
So I'd like to get your (I mean, everybody) attention to the
       two-region focus.
In the first AvA we built camps in lots of regions, but
experience lead us to concentrate our efforts in two regions the
next phase. Good move. At the beggining of Harvest AvA I
questioned if it was the better strategy to have two regions
instead of one. I made my point and others made theirs, so
decision was to keep on upgrading both North and Iron Islands. I
respected that but when we had about 10 days of AvA signs of
difficult on contribution for camp upgrade showed up.
So now I'd like to make my point on the same matter but with
       more experience.
So here we go: two major issues that are affected when we have
       two regions on focus:
       - Items for upgrading camps;
From AvA Owl Moon Phase to AvA Harvest Phase we noticed that it
requires lots of items to upgrade and that Battle camps (Fight,
Harass, Aid) shares the same itens required except of War Tokens
(Spoils); same to Trade and Intrigue camps. So you may have
noticed that this time we did Battle, Trade and Intrigue camps
at the same region. So to hurry/boost camps upgrade. And that
worked. On Owl Moon Phase end our bigger camp was lvl 11, now
due to strategy and about 40 more players contributing on AvA,
we already have a lvl 16 camp!
But camps on different regions still disputing resources. Let me
show an example: to upgrade to lvl 5, 6 and 7, respectively,
       needs 50, 100 and 150 militia/traders/eavesdropper (depending on
camp type). When it comes to lvl 8 its not needed anymore so
players go to our second region and donate. When we finally had
upgraded to lvl 9 we had about 150 militia/trader/eavesdropper
on our other region, delaying camp upgrade that required 250 of
       those units!!!
And when it's about higher lvl camps it becomes worse: we have
resources built dispute. Battle, Trade, Intrigue resources are
made at the same Building. One example you probably noticed is
Siege Works, that must keep producing from lvl 8 to lvl 20.
So what about camp upgrade? Is it really necessary? Yes, camp
upgrade make region stronger. Not only Speciality %% rises but
also Strengh given to camp upgraded and bonus given to other
camps on the same region. This way I could observe players
recently reincarnated performing actions and winning easily,
though their keep was still weak. It streghtens our defenses and
boosts when sending SSs out. And there's more: well, as already
shown in another post, VPS gained on each action grows
constantly when camps are upgraded. So imagine we are farming
steal spoils: if we perform it from a lvl 8 camp it will give 90
vps, right? If performed from a lvl 12 camp it will give 130,
check? Now imagine that a single player performs 100 steal
victories in 2 days. The difference if she/he choses lvl 8 or
lvl 12 camp is 4,000 VPS. A single player can make a difference
of 4,000 vps in only two days depending on how upgraded they
are! And it doesnt change if camp is damaged, same as Special
       reward percentage.
That lead us to the second point:
       - Actions performed by players (SSs sent).
To show how impressive it is, right now we are about 3,710,000
VPS overall. 3,415,000 VPS on North. About 1,100,000 VPS are
provided by Neck, TS and WK camps together. So where do the
others 2,315,000 vps come from? Well, from players action! Most
of them from attacks and a little bit from succesfull defenses.
So we can think that about 67% comes from players action/SSs
sent out! And the trend is to this % grows even more on final
       days!
So far that's my point: whatever we do, we focus on one single
reward, with a clear and solo strategy. ANf if not wrong it fits
       a solo region.
I'll post more considerations about AvA strategy tomorrow
because it's late here and I'm tired. I promise I'll make it
       worth.
Thanks again, I'm opened to discuss any matters,
       G'night peoples!

Manza and Warg, thank you so much for this. I am always a bit of
a "Fly by the seat of my pants" person and then think
afterwards. Just for some clarity, I was one of the people who
argued for two regions in this phase and in retrospect, I
realise it was a big mistake. I must clearly stick to
rabble-rousing and cheerleading while my betters make there
       decisions :-\
We have a very lively, active alliance going now and I think
that the player activity will contribute even more in the next
       phase.
I agree with both of you that we go to one region which I think
will be The North again (depending on what Winnie says) as we
       are Wildlings after all.
Thanks for all your hard work.

I agree we should focus on one region. Lets do the Westerlands
and barter the hell out of them. Barter in one camp, aid in
another and spy in a 3rd, since spying doesn't damage anyone,
I'm sure we can make an agreement with one of our friendly
alliances to spy on each other and not take offense, just like
       everyone in NATO does nowadays.

I think what we have seen out of all this is that we must focus.
Alex do you want us to focus in the Westerlands now before the
end of the Harvest Moon phase? Whenever that might be? We must
       just be clear on that.

We should keep playing the north and see what we can win there
in this (harvest) phase. We are already at lvl 16 in one of our
camps and maybe we can get enough victory points to win prizes.
At this point we should try to become friends with the bigger
alliances in the Westerlands and invite some of the smaller ones
to join our ranks. We should try to recruit as many smaller but
active alliances as we can at this point. Maybe we can set up a
mutual barter and aid pact with another alliance so that we get
the benefits of all their barters and we can aid each other when
       our camps are damaged.

We already have a bit of a barter and aid alliance gong with
Those Who Follow the Stars and I can ask Khedron, who is their
leader, how he feels about putting a ring on it, so to speak. I
agree about forming alliances but I must say, we really, really
need input here from Debbie. This is her alliance and I know she
has certain views and feelings on where we have a presence. I
suspect she will want to stay in the North in the next phase.
I like what you both are suggesting

what I would like to know is what our skill strategy will be in
       3. will we shift from harass to fight for the better
VPS?(question, NOT recommendation). will we keep trade there
even tho it is weak pointwise? granted, we will be throwing
attacks in every skill, clearly, but it would be nice to know
for purposes of setting up SS with gear and such.
