Inaugural Address: Seth Martin 1/20/11
By: iqforu Date: January 20, 2011, 8:10 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the
office of Chairman of the Supreme Nomic, and will to the best of
my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Supreme Nomic
Ruleset.
Thank you, members of the Supreme Nomic and all sub-nomics, for
electing me to the pristine office of Chairman of the Supreme
Nomic. It wasn't a pretty ascension to office; but I assure you
all, the days of partisan bickering are behind us. We may always
have our struggles, but the Supreme Nomic will endure and last
much longer than these temporary obstacles.
I serve as Chairman as the result of a cocktail of corrupt
policies and proposals, including the judicial framework of our
nomic and the election system. Each of these faucets of our
game deal with nearly identical dilemmas; solving problems and
seeking closure. It is this Inaugural Address that I hope to
mark as the beginning of solving these problems, and finding
closure to a controversial election cycle.
But enough of the past; in being elected to a second term of
Chairman, I am expected to focus on my future. I can assure you
that is where my focus lies. I will be blunt with you; our
election system requires comprehensive reform. Stability is
replaced with dirty politics in election times, and I identify
this as on of the largest problems our Supreme Nomic faces. I
hope we can discuss this and fix in before the next election.
Another point that needs to be discussed is that of our
judicial system. I think the fundamentals of our judicial system
are functional; however, there are many problems surrounding
this base that need fixes. I would like to point out at this
time that in three terms, the judicial system has not been
tested once. There have been no hearings. While this is
partially a product of low activity, it is also caused by the
unclear phrasing and, admittedly, we haven't followed procedure
perfectly. I believe that using the previous Chairman's proposal
for judicial reform as a base, we can pass an amendment or
replacement of the current judicial system that can be more
sufficient to the needs of our great Nomic.
There are many other issues that will surely be discussed
within the next two weeks, including the economy, rights of
players in sub-nomics, and player activity. We will tackle these
problems one at a time, with full force, as a coesive nation. If
there is one thing I know about our Supreme Nomic, it is that we
are truly supreme; and any challenge we face, we are more than
able to overcome.
I thank you all for your support, and I wish you the best in
our future endeavors. God bless you, the Supreme Nomic, and the
united sub-nomics of the Supreme Nomic. Thank you.
