       Week 4 at Bears

Well the Eagles got their first loss of the season. And it was a
tough one to lose. The bears gave them a chance to win the game.
The Eagles were able to get over 300 yards and they held the
Bears under 300 yards. Everything stat wise said they should of
won the game. But McNabb just couldn't do anything with out his
number one guy T.O. with Owens being out for today's game McNabb
needed someone to step up and be the guy to help him. He tried
to make Westbrook the guy but he had a struggle to get open and
run. He ran the ball 9 times and only got himself 49 yards
rushing. The running game was getting shut down all day.
Westbrook had such a hard time getting though the line. Going
the air wasnt any better. He had 6 receptions for 24 yards.
McNabb couldn't find good passes to him all day. He would pass
it to him and there was a herd of Bears there. Westbrook had no
chance of breaking free all day. McNabb's receivers combined for
only a total of 12 catches. Owen's has had games were he caught
that many in a game. Pinkston was the only one who did really
anything for McNabb. He wasnt catching everything. He had some
misses. He only had 4 receptions but he was able to get 95 yards
receiving and manage to get himself a touchdown. But other than
Pinkston no one stepped up. Mitchell the guy we all thought who
would of taken advantage of the chance to be a number 2 guy. He
just didn't show up. He also had 4 receptions but he only got 48
yards. He was not able to break away from the Bears secondary.
Morey is another guy who just didn't do much. Both him and
Mitchell had a great chance to step up and show what they had.
But neither of them did anything. They failed to show up and we
know why they are 3rd and 4th string. Morey had 2 receptions for
31 yards. 79 yards combined between both of them isn't going to
do it. Pinkston had 95 alone. And I'm sure Owen's would of had a
100 yard game, and they only got 79 yards total between them
both. That is not going to cut it guys. I would like to say it
was the defense who let the team down, but they did everything
they could to give the team a chance. They held the Bears to 269
total yards. They held Grossman to just 93 yards passing. They
shut down their receivers. That secondary was on point today.
Brian Dawkins led the team by getting himself the only turnover
by getting a great pick. He also was able to get 3 tackles on
the day. Lewis lead the team with 5 tackles on the day. He was
all over the field shut down the wide outs and keeping them from
going anywhere. Brown, Wayne, and Simoneau all had 4 tackles.
You weren't getting through these Linebackers today. Simoneau
was as able to get to Grossman and take him down for a sack. He
wasn't the only guy that was able to get to Grossman today.
Javon Kearse, Sheppard, and rookie McDougle were all able to get
a sack. Sheppard and McDougle only had half a sack, but it was
still a sack. Where the defense failed was the run defense. They
allowed the Bears backs 176 yards rushing. Anthony Thomas had
90% of those yards alone. They just had a hard time keeping him
at bay. If he wanted to break a big run he wasn't going to be
stopped by the Eagles. It was just a off day for the whole team.
A team who gets into the redzone often was in the redzone just
once. Once for the whole game. That is the first time this
season they only got to the redzone once. Then it didn't help
that when they got close enough David Akers couldnt nail a field
goal. He missed both of his kicks wide right. The wind was
strong but he was having a hard time kicking in the wind. I'm
glad he was able to kick the extra point ok. And with them
getting the only turnover for the game it's a shame they
couldn't turn that into points. Next week they host the Panthers
which should be good for them. They will be home and they will
get Owens back as well. Which they will need him for next week.
