Instead of waiting and getting responses, I am going to send the
letter to Nick.
I have edited it, so it doesn't have our names, as I haven't
heard back. Hopefully we will here something. Could you please
respond to this thread to say whether you are still committed to
the committee. Thanks

Dear NFLUK,
We, the members of the NFL Fan Committee, realise that due to
lack of numbers for the proposed meeting on July 31st, has
resulted in the cancellation of the meeting.
We are aware that from a pool of 20 committee members, you would
expect no less than half to attend. Clearly this is an issue as
approximately 10 members are active.
The very first meeting last year saw 19 members involved (one
via conference call). This was a good turnout, and the meeting
was extremely informative. Whatever ideas we individually had
about what the committee was or could do before attending, by
the end of the meeting, it was clear what the NFLUK wanted to
achieve, new fans. This clearly impacted some of the committee
members, who may have had different ideas about what they wanted
to get from the experience, though really can’t say what.
What we can say is that a forum site was setup for the committee
members to discuss issues/ideas that could be tabled at the
forthcoming meetings. Even in the beginning, approximately ¾ of
the committee were active. By October, it was clear that while
the forum was generating useful ideas, the majority of members
were not actively taking part.
We could easily see from the 2nd and 3rd meetings, at the
numbers who attended, that we were running on 50% of the
committee. Some members couldn’t attend due to other
commitments, and some we can only assume didn’t bother to
respond.
Within the 20 members offered this opportunity, there is a core
group who do and want to make a significant contribution to the
development of the fan base in the UK. We have played a part in
the fan evenings and in our own free time, trying to promote the
uptake of regional fan clubs.
With the cancellation of the next meeting, there is a sense that
this may be the end of the committee. If this isn’t the case, we
would ask for those members who have remained inactive, to be
replaced by new members, or to reduce the core number to those
who are active in generating ideas. Perhaps we could submit a
list of those of us who do want to continue, or you may have a
list based on response.
We do understand how busy your office is and that fitting in a
meeting into that schedule isn’t easy or convenient for you. If
you are considering a future meeting, could there be a system by
which we could better arrange a time? We understand that it’s
easier for you to meet during work hours, however, this can be
complicated for some of the committee members. Maybe a fan
committee evening could be arranged instead.

Good letter - I worry that between the beginning of August and
the end of Sept there have only been maybe 3 posts on this
forum.. I think.. with the best of intentions.. that this
committee is as good as done - but lets see what comes of the
letter Chris.

Don't hold your breath Chris for a prompt response. I am still
in the mind this can work and it has shown that it can. However
this was the Nfls idea and a lot of hard work has gone into it
by the minority of members and the blame lies a lot with them
for not givinv more backing. My view is that they are showing a
levelmof contempt towards us.
