Just catching up on some of the posts on here and thought I'd
share my views:
1. I won't be getting on the forums very regularly - maybe once
a week. Just the lifestyle I lead, and I've never been a big
forum poster. I think there will be others the same and it's
good to have that diversity on the committee because it gives a
broad range of types of people and social demographics which we
need. The committee isn't conducted through these forums, the
forums are just a handy tool some of us are (rightly) using to
help collate views. If someone doesn't come on here at all but
comes to the next meeting with some great ideas, all well and
good.
2. Having said the above, don't let that stop those that are
more active on here moving things forwards. I don't expect
anyone to wait for me. I'm happy for people to have roles like
minute-taker, chair etc, as I know I'll have plenty views and
ideas on whatever subject is chosen for the next meeting
regardless.
3. Most important thing now, IMO, is to get next meeting's
topic chosen and with that in mind I suggest we get the poll up
and running on NFLUK.com if it's not already (I've not seen it
but I may be being blind!). I really don't mind what topic we
end up with, but would be good to get it sorted so I can start
brainstorming it in my head.
4. Once the topic is chosen, I wonder if NFLUK would be able to
perhaps provide - in advance of the meeting (at least a few
weeks) - a bullet point Exec Summary of the key points on the
topic (which they can explain in detail at the meeting) so we
know the main hudles in advance so we know the parameters in
which we're working. I do a fictional example below.
In terms of the next meeting, presumably either TV coverage or
the IS are the bookies favourites for winning the poll? The
difficulty with either thing will of course be that it will
likely be too late to have much influance on either the 2012 TV
rights or the 2012 IS game. So we need to be going along
actually thinking very much about the 2013 season!
Kev
______________
Example NFLUK advance Exec Summary if next topic was, say,
Merchandise (I've made this stuff up to showcase the point):
1. USA to UK customs rules mean high levels of import duties
charged bring stuff into the UK;
2. Problems with NFL in US that they won't give a UK company an
unlimited license to distribute merchandise in UK;
3. NFLPA demand high royalty payments on sales made outside US;
4. Too expensive to have a formal supply chain in place;
5. Revenue sharing agreement doesn't cover non-US sales so
teams are arguing who gets to keep the profits from the sales.
Having a summary like the above would be useful ahead of the
next meeting to at least focus our thoughts (although may be
some reluctance for NFL UK to put things in writing?).

"You have indeed, but as you said, 8 people are missing and they
have just as much right for an active role than everyone else.
Its going to come to the stage where at the next meeting, these
8 wont get a chance to speak because our so called "elected
leaders" will be. "
Graham that is not the point of the positions, those positions
are not to stop anyone else having their say and points
discussed, far from it. It is only to make a structure so that
the committe can progress. However this committe is for everyone
to take part in and I take it that is why folk have went out of
their way to apply.
Kevin the purpose for this site is so that we as a committe can
come together before meetings to discuss and thrash out ideas,
which are topical and important to both the fans and NFL alike.
We only have 2 hours at the meeting which is no time at all to
discuss important topics, and if no groundwork is done before
highlighting problems with solutions then the meeting will no
doubt fail. I really do not see the point of applying and being
accepted to the NFLUK fan committe and not taking an active part
in it, except at meetings!
It is important all of us do get together on this bearing in
mind at the meeting AK did mention about us getting together as
a group between meetings. This is something that NFLUK where
prepared to set up on the forum in a seperate locked section,
but Ken managed to get this up and running which is preferable
than being being on the official site.

I agree with Mark. we have to be working together on a regular
basis otherwise we will come across as not taking this seriously
enough. which could result in the next meeting with nfluk being
the last.
they are serious about having the fans involved. we need to be
serious about it.
I haven't been a big forum user but this seems ti be the best
way for us all to.communicate as we can't easily get together.
unless someone has a better suggestion at communication then we
all need to rise and use this as our tool.
Don't mean to.come.off preachy. I just really want this to.work
and not become fractitous .

Thats it Chris, it is an oppurtunity that has come around that
never does, and we have to grab it, and yeh make it work for the
fans to get a great sport off the ground in a big way in the UK,
and we all have to work together.

I totally agree with Mark and Chris. 2 hours at meetings are not
enough, look at the first meeting it went well over 2 hours and
we barely had time to touch on topics. The positions are to
ensure the committee stays on track and efficient and as was
previously mentioned the positions can be rotated. With these
forums we have an opportunity to throw out all huge range of
opinions and potential topics so we can be prepared for and use
our time in the meetings with AK in the most efficient way
possible. The more we use these forums the better the meetings
will be.

Not sure where we are now!I dont buy in to the im too busy for
this scenario- i'm sure all of us have busy lifes/demanding jobs
, and im sure all of us can talk NFL for 2hrs+ on our own, i
appreciate we are all different and thats a good thing but lets
think of the bigger picture - this isnt just about us - we are
here for the forum too and by being part of the committee surely
we have made a commitment to represent others not just ourselves
and that might involve some sacrifices?
How we do the representing others is the bit where i think we
need a bit of a rethink,i too think we need to put 5 choices
whatever they are on the main forum. for example, Maybe even
though we cant change things answers on tv coverage maybe more
important to the forum than anything else - so its not just our
job to find ways of promoting the game and the forum, we may
also be of use by being able to put the correct questions to the
nfl office and relaying the answers effectively back to the site

I have been off all weekend due to my sons 30th birthday.
Bit shocked to come on and actually see nothing has changed
since I was previously on. Lets not beat about the bush. This
committee was set up by NFLUK, and all of us were up for the
challenge. But It appears that only a few out of the 20 are
prepared to come on here and actually contribute. So in essence
why bother attending London, promising to take part and then not
bother, that is how it seems. I report to Nick at the office on
what is going on with the committee, bit difficult to do when
there is hee haw.
If you are not prepared to participate, both here and on the
NFLUK site maybe its about time to let another fan come into the
mix.

We are still in need of a chair and vice for the meantime.
