Mario, who is moving the file? Isn't there a process involved

Honestly, what's happening right now doesn't make a lot of sense
to me. Many of us have been begging and pleading for many months
for an orderly, professional transition from avidity to a new
host. And, perplexingly, nothing happened. Now, suddenly, we're
in a "screw it, it's going to happen right NOW" mode. This
seems more an emotionally-based plan than a rational one.
Who is the new host?
Have we verified that our code is compatible with their
available servers?
Are we contracting with someone who has experience moving sites
such as ours, or are we using the "i know a guy" approach?
Is the person working on moving the board making this one of
their top priorities for today or are they doing it in between
their "real" obligations, when they can fit it in?
If we run into challenges, is the person working on the move
experienced enough to deal with them, and are we enough of a
priority that he'll work through the challenges?
If there is a professional option to move this site for $300, I
would be a lot more comfortable with this process doing that and
knowing someone with experience doing this is ON it. At this
point, honestly, I have no freaking idea who is doing what.
I wish we had started this process in a measured, thoughtful,
researched way months ago. Given that ship has sailed, I wish we
were taking a similar approach right now instead of hastily
throwing our hands up and hoping it all works out.

Albeit we've only got limited posters here, the consensus seems
to be to notify avidity to get the board back up and progress
with the migration at the same time.
If the migration works as smoothly as hoped, awesome. The only
downside would be a days worth of lost posts on the "new"
board's archives. Seems pretty insignificant, except to Baller
who will not be able to dig those posts up 10 years from now.
If the move doesn't happen as smoothly as hoped, once the
avidity site is back up, we can discuss the plan further and
figure out why it didn't work.
Mario, you seem concerned about allowing prospective
coders/migrators access to the code. Is there a reason for
that?

I notified avidity 2 hours ago. They responded about 30 min ago.
So it should be up soon.

Yes. In short its not my code.
Despite how much its been mocked and the marketing ability has
been questioned, its still not anyone's call but the owner of
the code on what is done with it.

Hasn't Shameer given us permission to do what's needed to move
the site to a new host?
Are we still in a position where we are not at liberty to hire
someone to move the code from one host to another?
And Mario, can you tell us who is doing the work and whether or
not they have done this before? Can you fill in some of the
blanks on how this is supposed to be accomplished?

1 - Kinda. In short - there is a lot of personal data of Shams
on the server and again - its his code and his desires for the
code.
2 - That is being done.
3 - Going with a service. MediaCatch. I backup the board - they
check out the code. They fix and upload the code to new host
(not necessarily in that order).

When this is all over I may tell the tale on why this has been
how it is but I don't feel now is the time because I don't see
any benefit and too many things can blow up and the board would
be gone forever.

Same could be said for the LB.
People (myself included) want the LB on a stable host and
improved. The rest is just details that are out of the board
(myself included) control.
Even now - I've pushed a lot that I wasn't supposed to.
