In the outside chance that the "plan" currently in place to move
the board to a new server fails, I'd like to start working on a
contingency plan.
What do we need from the new server? When exploring/pricing,
what functions/size/space do we need? What's been causing the
crashes? Is it the size or traffic? Or just avidity?
A quick google search returned numerous websites that can move a
site from server to another for a flat fee. So if the current
plan doesn't work, there's no need to hunt for another coder.
That piece is easy.
But, I'd still need to know what to look for in a host/server.
And I'd need it broken down into very small words.
My recollection was that Jeff said he's already thinking of
moving his servers. If so, does that mean we'd be going through
all of this again during that migration?

Unless I'm missing something, Jeff's server move is unrelated to
ours. He was merely suggesting the same host he was using, and
is now suggesting the same host he's moving to. But they are
independent events.
I would agree that it seems like this is taking longer and is
being represented as more complex than I would think that it
really is. I would think we could hire someone on Elance to move
the board for a total of $100-$200, and the new host should be
cheap, less than $20/month.
Just not sure why this seems to be as involved and slow a
process as it's been.

Hey guys - just want to make it clear that if there is a plan to
move the board I am not privy to it. Calhoun mentioned that
he'd take a look at the code and give an opinion about what it'd
take to get the board moved, but other than that I am aware of
nothing else in the works.
My understanding is that it's been a "complicated" process
because it involves accessing Shameer's server and he's been
less than enthusiastic about sharing what's on there.
I've offered the use of my server space - that offer is still
good. I just moved most of my servers to AWS, which is great
(so far) and super cheap. In fact I'm pretty sure it's free the
first year, then around $15/month going forward.
A better plan might be to setup a unique account for the
Lakerboard that is not on my servers. I think this might make
the most sense for everyone.
Will post again about this after Calhoun kicks the tires.

Jeff, thanks for the clarification. I thought Mario told me
that a coder had been found and that he was already working with
you on it. I understood that to mean that the move was in
progress. Maybe I misunderstood his email.
Based on your understanding and knowledge, is the AWS $15/month
server sufficient for the LB needs? If so, I agree it would
make the most sense to have it on it's own independent account.
What I'm still unclear about is why Avidity isn't working. Is
it just that it's a shit server, or is it because of the size of
the LB and/or the traffic? Several months ago, before Mario
"got the keys," I thought he had figured out the issue, but I
don't remember exactly what it was.
$15/month would be sweet, but not if it's going to result in the
same probs we have with Avidity.

I also thought that Shameer had given 2C full access to the
coding, and permission to move it to another server.
Would be good to have Mario chime in. We need to get a detailed
understanding of what we need but don't currently possess in
order to move the board to a new host.
