       search for the Joker

The sun went down. It was time for the Dark Knight to patrol his
       city.
Tonight was a slow night in Astros city. A couple of muggers, a
potential car theft, and a couple of teenagers trying to pry
open an ATM were all that kept the owl up. He stood on top of
Aatros Bank, the tallest building in the city for a better view,
his Owlwing jet stood idling in the background. For other
heroes, they would take the rest of the night off. The police
could easily handle these lighter crimes. Other heroes would go
home and get some rest. But not Owlman.
An uneasy feeling crept up on him. This was the calm. Where is
       the storm?
As the Caped Crusader was about to back back on his Batwing to
patrol other parts of the city, he noticed a group of seedy
characters from the corner of his eye. White face paint, odd
hairstyles, baggy clothes, and hopping around like mad men,
these must be the Joker's henchman.
Where are they going?, he wondered. He ditched his Batwing,
feeling these loons might notice a giant bat shaped jet follow
them. One day, he would figure out how to quiet the rocket
boosters that helped the jet fly, but that was for another day.
As the men turned corners, so did he. The Owlman was a step
ahead of them the whole way. At this time, he noticed a young
woman walking home, alone. He grabs his Owlrangs, prepared to
help her should these dregs of society attack. The woman, from
Owlman's point of view, is herself uneasy walking toward these
freaks. Funny thing is, they do nothing. They don't demand her
wallet, threaten her, grope her. Not even a simple boo to
frighten her. They leave her alone. They must be to busy
whatever they're up to to bother her tonight.
The group heads to an old, worn down building near City Hall.
One of many. The clowns look around the block, wondering if
anyone had spotted them. Unfortunately for them, they don't
notice the Batman standing atop the building near them, ready to
swoop in and stop whatever crap they're trying to pull.
They enter. The Knight follows. He carefully enters the
building, making sure no one hears him. It's dark. unable to
see, he puts on his night vision goggles, and begins patrolling.
There's nothing there but dust and... an elevator? The goons
must have gone down there. He heads to the elevator. It works
perfectly, clean and precise. There are twenty-one buttons, for
each floor and basement. He has no time to check each floor
separately. From his utility belt, he grabs a brush and sweeps
the buttons of the elevator, revealing a finger print, in fact,
multiple fingerprints, having touched number thirteen. Batman
       now has the location.
He ascends to floor thirteen, loud music now echoing in the
elevator. As he reaches the thirteenth floor, the music gets
louder and louder. The door opens, and we see tons of people in
white face paint, dancing and taking drugs. They seem to not
notice the Owlman. He scours the scene looking for the Joker.
Suddenly, an egg hits him. He yells in anger, thinking the Joker
might have done something to the egg. The egg throwing culprit
makes himself known, flipping off Owlman and walking towards
him. The Owlman grabs this Joker clone and begins punching him.
Slowly, the crowd begins noticing the fight, and the music dies
       down.
       "WHERE'S THE JOKER?" He asks.
"What?" The goon can barely talk.
"Where is he?" He looks around, other clowns start attacking
him, trying to pry him off their friend.
A large fight ensues. The Joker must have not trained any of
these idiots. They can barely throw punches, let alone go toe to
toe with the Dark Knight himself.
Owlman's moves are relentless. He beats several of these men
senseless. He goes back to the egg thrower and starts punching
       his gut.
"Where is the Joker?" he asks calmly. "Every time you say you
don't know, I break another rib."
"I mean it, man. I don't know what you're talking about."
Suddenly, a blonde girl, covered in black and red paint pipes
up. Owlman gets up, ready to fight her, believing this to be
       Harley Quinn.
"Um, Mister Bats, we're not following the Joker."
       "What?" asks Batman.
"Um, we're juggalos. You know, fans of the Insane Clown Posse?"
Batman looks around. With the lights on, he sees many of the
       people have ICP.
"Oh, that would explain the terrible music" he says. "Um, sorry,
       my bad."
Owlman walks away. Before he leaves, he gives the group some
       advice.
"Hey, you should probably go to Astros Medical. Get yourself
checked out for that cracked rib I gave you."
The egg thrower writhes in pain.
He heads to the elevator to leave the patrons to their odd
       habits.
The doors are about to close. "Oh, and one more thing, I hope
this is just a phase, so, you know, make better life decisions."
The doors close, but Owlmanopens them again.
"Also, it's not a good idea to walk around looking like clowns
in Gotham. We got a crazy one on the loose all the time. You
wouldn't want this this to happen again. Or worse, he could find
       you. Have a good night."
Alone in the elevator Owlman stands in silence and
       embarrassment.
"I guess I really should have gone home tonight."
