       Possession of Avalon
   DIR By: Caos
       Date: December 30, 2015, 2:27 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
In a darkened room, hundreds of feet below the surface of the
planet, the twisted cultists of a chaotic religion chanted and
spasmed in a wicked ritual. Their faces contorted and twisted as
they chanted in ancient and evil tongues, gathered around a red
alter in the middle of the room. Four blinded men, four Templar
soldiers, were bound in the middle, and surrounded by the
cultists. As their voices reached a crecendo, the men holding
the Templars drove their twisted, bloodied knives into the
chests of the four, tearing out the other end before being
cruelly twisted and pulled back out.
Their blood drenched the altar, and a robed man picked up the
blood with his fingers, smeared it on himself, and chanted in an
evil tongue as he traced runes across the altar. With a rumble,
the runes began to glow, and lifted into the air, twisting
themselves into the Mark of Khorne. In a furious blast of light,
the four Templars were lifted up, and their bodies torn to
       shreds.
Inside was a blazing light, which began to fill up the floating
circle of blood, and shine in glimmering power. All at once, the
men were consumed as the portal was complete. From the surface
of this red, glowing portal, an arm reached out, and a body
exited into Realspace. It's unholy flesh glowed in a red, bloody
glow, faces twisting out, and disappearing.
The Daemon stood now, 9 feet tall, in the flesh in front of the
quivering men. It's terrible mouth opened in a bloody,
earsplitting roar, and its claws extended out. Each man was torn
apart in a scream as the powerful manifestation of the warp
spilt and consumed their blood and flesh, rendering them into
bits. The ritual was complete. The Warp Rift to the domain of
Khorne was torn asunder, and from it, legions of Daemons
       emerged.

       Avalon Outpost
1st Templar Grand Army, Task Force Omega
The Avalon outpost was more than just an outpost. It was a
gargantuan outpost, 3 miles in length with towring walls 50 feet
high. There were 6 planetary defense guns, called Type-27
Artillery, standing at 121 feet tall themselves. There were 3
levels of walls, with a heavily defended citadel in the center.
There were defense towers all around the walls on all levels,
containing missile launchers, as well as Turret embankments
along the walls for heavy gunners. 25 large Assault Class mechs
were part of the heavy arsenal, and a force of Templar Knights
10,000 strong, and loyal to the death. They had built this
outpost for the glory of the White Tree, and would defend it
with their blessed weapons as well as lasguns embedded in their
armor, which was made of vibranium, an extremely durable and
strong metal, which was found when mined out of a few dead
worlds belonging to the Galactic Kingdom. It was a normal day,
and the populace of the colony planet wasn't bothering them
today. No, it was peaceful, and the daily defense drills were
going well, with the First Marshal due to give an inspection to
each company. First Marshal Jaegar Aglidum saw the sun shine off
of his blessed sword, Big Jimmy, as well as his armor. He looked
out upon the fortress from the top of the citadel, and was being
read the schedule for the day.
The Templar Squire was reading off of his list...
"And finally, you are set to deliver a state of the Outpost
address to the Task Force, Lord Marshal."
Suddenly, he silenced the Squire. He was a psychic, meaning that
he could sense things in the world around him that connected to
things...otherworldly. In him a sense of dread built up, and a
sudden jolt of pain throughout his entire body caused him to
stagger to his knees. He sensed a great power entering Avalon,
something rather...ominous. Whatever it was was filled with
power, and was coming. A Templar medic ran to his side, and
helped him to his feet, asking "First Marshal, what ails you?"
Jaegar was terrified, but didn't show it. "I'm not sure. I am
okay." He slowly got to his feet, albeit with shortness of
breath. "Something wicked this way comes. Tell the Outpost to be
on alert. I don't know what will happen, but we must be
       prepared."
The Prophet of the White Tree had sent him here with a prophetic
warning: that he would be best by a great challenge. He has been
right, as he always was. He had but one final thought before
praying to the White Tree for protection and strength.
       "So it begins..."

The first warning, the first emergence of these daemonic
entities, was inside the city. Without warning, an earsplitting,
blood curdling screech erupted from the depths of the planet
itself, and a massive earthquake shook the entire continent. The
ground beneath the Church have way as a pillar of bloody red
light tore through the ground and into the sky, and bit by bit
in rapid succession, the church was torn and sucked into the
ground. From its depths, a pillar of light shot into the sky,
tearing what was left of the church apart and widening the hole,
while at the same time chanting in that same deep, evil tongue.
And from it's fiery and bloody depths... Came Hell.
A massive, blood red hand, enormous and larger than a human,
extended from the beam, and was quickly followed by an enormous,
horned being, encased in red and spiked armor. Two massive,
black wings extended from its back, and in his hands were two
weapons: a fiery sword, and a flaming whip. It's mouth was
encased in rows of teeth, and it's tongue that of a serpent.
Suddenly, it opened its mouth, and roared out in an evil
language, that suddenly overlapped in every single other
       language possible.
"DAEMONS, MINIONS OF KHORNE! DESCEND UPON THESE MORTALS! BLOOD
FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE! KILL THEM ALL!"
He roared immensely, and around his feet, the beasts of Khorne
emerged. Daemons, eight feet tall and with swords, broke into a
run, unleashing their horrors upon the city. Flesh Hounds,
massive beasts 12 feet tall, ran from their place to kill at
will. Greater Daemons and Daemon Champions also entered, all
bellowing praise for their God as they descended upon the
populace. Without a single issue, a massive burst of flame and
power emerged from the Prince's hand, and engulfed the city
before him, tearing a line straight through the city. "NONE
       SHALL LIVE!"

       Avalon Outpost
The First Marshal and the entire fortress was rocked by the
sudden entrance of the fiery hordes. The battle cry of the
Daemon Prince had been heard in the minds of the Knights, and
the city could be seen be razed in flame. They were enraged.
Their church had just been desecrated by the unholy, and now the
fight was theirs. They felt bad for the city, but knew it was
doomed with as many daemons that had swarmed the place. The
First Marshal knew that he had to rally the troops, especially
with the approaching menace on the horizon.
Troops had already been on alert, but were scrambling to their
positions. Gunners and energy beam archers aligned themselves on
the walls and checked their weapons. Each individual Knight
activated the full powers of his suit. The Knights were
superhumans, and stood at 8 feet tall. Some Knights were
sorcerers, and prepared spells to fend off the hellish enemy.
The entire fortress began preparations for a siege, and all
defenses were active. Avalon Outpost would defend itself to the
last drop of Gondorian blood, and knew that the coming menace
       meant a date with death.
As the final preparations were readied for the coming battle,
the First Marshal entered the Citadel to cast a direct psychic
message to the Prophet of the White Tree, which the Prophet
       would receive quickly.
       --- Quote ---
       > "Prophet, this is First Marshal Jaegar Aglidum reporting from
Avalon outpost. We are in dire straits here. The planet is under
attack by a demonic horde of sorts. The Church has been
completely destroyed, and the city burns in the distance. I will
rally the men and we shall fight to the last for our holy and
noble cause! Please send large numbers of reinforcements as soon
as possible. Glory to the White Tree! Glory to Gondor!"
       --- End Quote ---
Jaegar went out onto the parapet of the nearest wall, and
       rallied his men.
"MEN OF GONDOR! TEMPLARS OF THE WHITE TREE! STAND YOUR GROUND,
AND BE PROUD OF YOUR OPPORTUNITY! TODAY IS A DAY OF GLORIOUS
BATTLE OF WHICH MERE MEN CAN ONLY DREAM! FIGHT AS YOU HAVE BEEN
TRAINED, AND FIGHT FOR YOUR BROTHERS! FIGHT FOR YOUR CHURCH, THE
GLORY OF GONDOR, AND YOUR VERY LIVES! FIGHT TO THE LAST DROP OF
GONDORIAN BLOOD! WE ARE HOLY, AND THEY DESECRATE OUR CHURCH!
STAND UPON THIS FORTRESS, AND SEND THEM TO THE FIERY CHASM FROM
WHENCE THEY CAME! FOR GONDOR! FOR THE WHITE TREE!"
The Knights responded with a roar of 10,000 voices. The Templars
       were ready for battle.

The Daemon Prince roared out in victory as the last of the city
succumbed to his infernal power, burning or dying by the
hundreds. He took one mighty step forward, shaking the ground
with his stomp, and cracking the very earth beneath him. All
around him, the city burned, twisted, and contorted into a
desolate, endless landscape, releasing hundreds upon thousands
of Daemons from their Warp confines, and spilling them upon
realspace. None could stand in his path. But for all the death,
all the power increased and absorbed, he still felt a psychic
presence in the planet, and laughed. It was a terrifying laugh,
one that rippled with screams and roars.
"Has the Imperium of Man come out to challenge the mighty
Champion of Khorne?" His voice shouted out in hundreds of
languages and tongues, crossing into different voices, even.
With one move of his arm, the hordes and legions of Daemons
advanced across the planet, going from city to city to tear,
kill, and enslave. Even now, the greatest of his Daemons and
Hounds ran ahead of him, charging at the fortress in front of
him. "You foolish mortals! The Anathema cannot stand against me!
       DIE FOR THE BLOOD GOD!"
And with his massive roar, he sent a powerful Psychic shockwave
across the continent, aiming his backlash against the sorcerers
and psychics inside the citadel, before he commanded his Legions
       to advance.

       Avalon Outpost
The citadel was rocked by the shockwave sent out by the prince
of darkness that commanded the enemy. The sorcerers and psychics
trembled with fear at the message of the Prince of the Daemon
hordes, but the First Marshal stood strong. He told his troops
to keep the faith, despite the inevitable fate that was before
       them.
He sent out a psychic message in response to the one who had
sent it. "Leader of Doom, we fear not you or your legions! I
know not of what Imperium of Man you speak of, but I fight for
       Gondor and the White Tree!"
As the Daemon hordes came rushing towards the fortress, the
first level of defenses began to activate. The defense towers
readied their payloads of high explosive surface to ground
missiles, and targeted the hellhounds specifically, as well as
the greater daemons. There were 2500 men on the outer wall. The
Knights readied their bows, which shot Arrows tipped with
magically imbued white-hot holy energy, said to be from the
White Tree itself. The Templars also activated their lasguns on
their suits, and let them fire at will into the Hell below. They
shot out their volleys faithfully, and had their blessed weapons
at the ready for when the daemons came up on the walls. The
plasma Turret emplacements also began firing their superheated
Plasma bolts into the ranks of the enemy, hoping to take even
more of them out with enough luck. The Templars had no fear,
for they had been trained to be fiercely loyal to the Kingdom,
as well as indoctrinated with powerful magics that were like
basic instinct and protocol. To brighten up their morale, the
Knights began an ages old Gregorian Chant from a forgotten age
on Earth, when the Templars had been Christians. They sang in a
rumbling tone, and it was a tune called Da Pacem Domine. This
was their last solace as the enemy neared, and they thought of
nothing but the glory of the White Tree.
       --- Quote ---

       > 5. Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto, sicut erat in
principio et nunc et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen
       --- End Quote ---
Seeing the horror approaching his fortress and men, he sent out
a desperate psychic message not just to other Templars or
Gondorians, but to anyone who might've been able to hear.
       --- Quote ---
       > "If any psychic being can hear me, Templar of the White Tree
or otherwise, hear my plea! This is First Marshal Jaegar
Aglidum, and our colony planet has been attacked by otherworldly
demonic forces! We desperately need reinforcements, as there is
even a Demon Prince or powerful leader of some sort here! We
will fight to the last, but the planet itself is already up in
flames, and the casualties are innumerable. Again, if anyone is
receiving this message, Avalon and the Templars need
reinforcements to defeat the forces of Hell itself!
       --- End Quote ---
The First Marshal then turned his attention to the coming siege.
He had to command his forces with valor and strength, regardless
       of the outcome.

With a terrible, otherworldly laugh, the Daemon Prince sent his
legions upon legions of Daemons upon the wall. His Greater
Daemons gathered their own powers, and began to psychicly attack
the weakest of the Sorcerers, preying upon their minds. Only the
strongest could defend against such abominations, and once
inside, they began to possess them. Filling their new prey with
the unholy energies of the Warp, they ravaged and mutated their
bodies, until they split apart in a warp rift, and spilled out
Lesser Daemons. From inside the front lines, a Greater Daemon
tore his way out of a Psychic, and assaulted the men on the
       walls with his terrible whip.
While the weakest of the Daemons fell to the hundreds of energy
bolts, the stronger survived. Even as hundreds were banished
back into the warp, more took their place as endless amounts of
small warp rifts were torn open by the attack. And as if to
purposefully add insult to injury, the Daemon Prince sent out a
wave of unending, terrible fear into his enemies.
Terrible as the enemy's weapons were, it took a lot to destroy
the material beings. While dozens of Flesh Hounds were lost to
the attack, the Greater Daemons stepped forward, and unleashed a
barrage of fire upon these turrets, shielding their hounds with
their minds. Slowly, but surely, the front lines of the wall,
quite literally, began to tear themselves apart.

       Aboard the Dominion
       Realspace, Ultramar Sector
Dominion's massive body stretched in the darkness of the space
as it passed by the planet time after time, suspended in orbit
above the factory planet of Europa. Shuttles ran to and fro from
it's enlarged hanger bays, and dozens of smaller ships
surrounded it in their own slow transit. While the darkened hull
of the ship was shown in the sunlight, the light illuminated
it's words and flag spread upon it's front hull.
Inside was much different than the outside. While on the out, it
looked like a grim, tired ship, the inside was bustling with
people running in and out, to and fro. Everyone was resupplying,
people were leaving, and people were boarding. It was, simply, a
controlled chaos. But it was no ordinary resupplying. It was no
ordinary boarding and unboarding. Inquisitorial soldiers were
boarding at a massive rate. Within a few hours, the massed
ships, all the assault ships in the area, and all of the
warships, were filled to the brim with their respective
soldiers. Guardsmen, Marine, Terminator, and Mech alike were
loaded onto their ships, and sent into orbit. Now, the Dominion
was the only ship not yet filled. And it still needed to be.
While the rest of the Fleet carried normal forces of soldiers,
the Tyran Legions of Guardsmen, and the Blood Angels V Legion,
the Dominion and her assault ships carried both the Lord
Inquisitor Yasha, and his massed army of SS soldiers. In total,
it was an estimated force of 30,000 marines, and nearly 2 and a
half million Guardsmen taking to their ships, and nearly fifty
       whole warships.
"My Lord... The men have finished loading our ships." An
Imperial guard lieutenant replied, kneeling down and looking at
the Lord Inquisitor. Dressed in his massive terminator armor, he
stood at the helm, and turned around to face the Lieutenant.
"Good. Move to open space, and enter the Warp. We ride for
       Avalon."

       Avalon Outpost
The frontal defenses were in disarray, with many men being
engulfed in flame as the Greater Daemons unleashed their fiery
assault on the wall. The possessions had weakened the front
lines, and the Templars' ranged weapons had exhausted their
usefulness for now. The Knights drew their weapons for close
combat, and began the melee that had been assured to come. Among
those in the first line had been 500 Templar sentinels, who were
12 feet tall with double bladed energy staffs and 4 different
lasguns set about their armor. Their minds were guarded by magic
and that had been implanted in their suits, and they stepped
forward to challenge the Greater Daemons mano y mano. The
Sentinels also had powerful spellcasting Abilities, and sent a
giant ice attack wave into the fire attacks of the Greater
Daemons. Templars had employed their shields as well to guard
against the flames, but with limited effectiveness. The first
wall was falling, but had not yet given way, due in part to the
powerful Sentinels braving the battle against some very powerful
daemons. Morale was partially restored, but the terror sent out
from the Daemon Prince had its effects. The First Marshal looked
on with an emotion of trepidation, for he knew that the First
Wall could only hold for so much longer.
The Second Wall's defenses were being readied, and these
defenses were far stronger than the First's. It had everything
the First Wall had, but more. Along the wall, Scorpion Tanks had
been lined up, and there were still Plasma Turrets, Defense
Towers, and Archers. The Knights of the Second Wall were
sorcerers and even more Sentinels, and they numbered 2500 once
more. Sorcerers were the normal 8 feet tall, but could perform
many magical attacks, including mind control, fire, directed
energy, shielding, water/ice, and illusions. The Sentinels
prepared their Laser staffswords as well as what magic they had
to offer. The Sorcerers and Sentinels both cast the most
powerful mind protection spells they could, not wanting to fall
into the folly of the poor bastards in the First Wall. The
Second Wall also had powerful warding magic that engulfed
anything not Templar in a massive lightening shock that was
superheated and crippling. The Second Wall stood ready.

sorcerers, tanks, and Mechs among them. Send out the 1st Fleet
for transport, and arrive as quickly as possible. Ready 1.5
million Army Infantrymen as well to man the Pelicans, Warthogs,
       and Light Mechs."
"Yes, my King. Should we not send the Grand Master as well?"
"No. He need not attend. The two First Marshals I have chosen
       are proficient enough."
       "It will be done."
The First Three Army Groups of the 1st Grand Army of the
Templars had been activated, numbering a total of 3 million. The
1.5 million Army Infantrymen were to be mixed in their ranks as
well. scrambling was made to get all the equipment needed, and
in time all was loaded up for the journey to Avalon. The Two
First Marshals were Braemon and Bradanon, the Twins. Together,
they were an extremely powerful psychic 1-2 punch that was
feared the Kingdom over. Many Knights sat aboard their warships,
and strapped in for the ride. The Flagship of the 1st Fleet, the
G.C.S. Infinity, lead the way to the fight. Men continued to
mass into the ships, with Templar Knights, Sentinels, Sorcerers,
and Army Infantrymen alike getting to their assigned locations.
Each man uttered a silent prayer to the White Tree before
takeoff, not knowing if he would return.
The Warships, Carriers, Frigates, Cruisers, and Corvettes had
been filled with their assigned troops and supplies, and the all
clear signal for the jump to hyperspace was given.
       To Avalon, indeed.

As the first defenses were overrun, and the second was
assaulted, the Daemon Prince himself stepped forward onto the
front lines. With one smash of his foot, he kicked down the
gates without an issue, sending a blast of fire into the sky.
With a roar, he sent forth his whip against the second wall,
sending out a burst of fire into the defenders, and prompting
the second blast of Greater Daemons to assault the defenders
personally. One by one, the abominations descended upon the
sentinels with whip, sword, and axe, while the Flesh Hounds tore
into them at a running charge.
But just as the Daemon Lord was attacking, he disappeared. With
a roar, he looked at the sky, and disappeared in a giant beam of
flame. Although the defenders would not know where he went,
       everyone could guess.
On the next planet, a latent psyker suddenly convulsed in the
street, dropping to his knees and opening his mouth in a silent
scream. Bubbles beneath his skin started to form and grow,
traveling up to his mouth, until he was torn down the middle in
a violent ray of light. Bit by bit, piece by piece, the Daemon
Prince emerged from his body, transforming it into a full on
warp rift, from which his Daemons could travel. "MORTALS! BOW
DOWN TO THE PRINCE OF WAR!"

       Avalon Outpost
The First Defenses had crumbled, and the Second Wall was an all
out melee. The daemons had rushed the wall so quickly that the
defenses hadn't had time to react. Part of the wall was on fire,
and Sentinels and Sorcerers could be seen lying dead where the
Daemon Prince had struck. The Sentinels and Sorcerers began
fighting back in earnest, making full use of the lasguns on
their power armor. The Sorecers began casting walls of ice in an
attempt to temporarily halt the enemy advance, and the Sentinels
began getting into a schiltrom formation (basically like a wall
of spears since staffswords are similar). The combat was quite
brutal, but it wasn't over yet. To improve the morale of his
troops, Jaegar sent a giant bolt of lightning from his sword,
Big Jimmy, into the hellish ranks. He also began to attack the
minds of the Greater Daemons, using his great powers taught to
him by the Grand Master and Prophet themselves.
