Random Encounters of the Fifth Kind...

In the galaxy at large many species of life exist...some are
aware of other sentient species, others are not. With the galaxy
ever evolving and being such an expansive place who knows what
will happen when two species collide?

Aboard the Dreadnought Prime...
The Grand Admiral sat in the darkness of his chambers, the only
light was from the view screen that displayed his home world
Csilla. He was brooding in the darkness burdened by his own
thoughts, the door chime rang with a *beep*, signaling someone
wished to enter. "Come." was his response, a young female Chiss
officer entered the room, arms flat by her side she did not make
eye contact "Sir, the reports you requested are completed." she
quipped, the Grand Admiral rose to face her, gave her a
prolonged stare, and walked past her to the Replicator on the
wall. "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot." the machine materialized a mug and
began to fill it with the desired liquid, he turned to the
officer, "What a marvelous invention, these should become the
standard equipment on all our vessels." the Replicator dinged
and he collected the mug. "Y-Y-Yes sir, it is indeed a wonderful
invention." she was trembling, the man in front of her lived up
to his name, defined, imposing, quiet, and she was finding it
hard to breath. The Admiral noticed the strain the young officer
was giving to retain her dignified voice and pose, "Are you
finding it hard to breath Captain? I can adjust the atmospheric
controls if you like." He tested her resolve, much like he
tested his entire crew's. "N-No, thank you Grand Admiral." with
forced salute. The Admiral was pleased by this answer, he
approached her and with a sip of his mug took the reports that
she was meant to deliver. "These are the roster listings yes?
You did a very nice job with these Captain...ordered, listed by
rank, demerits...you purposefully outperformed yourself didn't
you?" The Captain took a sharp inhalation of breath, she knew it
was considered poor form to try harder when performing for a
higher up. "Y-Y-Y-Yes Grand Admiral, I did." The Admiral turned
to meet her eyes, he held the gaze for what seemed like forever
to her, until finally breaking out into laughter. Surprisingly
it wasn't malicious, it was warm and human, far from the stories
the cadets told about him, "Do not worry yourself to much young
Captain, I did the very same when I was your age." She breathed
a sigh of relief, "While its not going to earn you a merit, I
congratulate you on your efforts. You are dismissed, return to
your station and we will prepare to disembark." She performed a
curt salute and promptly walked out of the room. The Admiral
sighed, "Ah the children these days..." he stood upon a slight
platform in the middle of the room, holographic projections
appeared before him of the other Captains in the fleet, he spoke
loudly "Now hear this, it is under my imperative order that we
disembark for our expedition posthaste. Captains are your ships
prepared?" Several "Ayes" or "Yes, Grand Admiral." Resonated
back, "Good. Navigation prepare the coordinates, ships prepare
the pathfinding programs." The fleet turned as one to the inky
blackness of space. "On my order engage Hyperspace
travel........Engage."

GCS Halabar
Infinity-Class Warship
This massive vessel was a pride of the Gondorian Space Fleet. It
was one of only 3 of its kind, at least for the moment. On the
Bridge was Admiral John Brantley, the Commander-in-Chief of the
2nd Expeditionary fleet. It was accompanied by two
Strident-Class Destroyers, the Winds of Wrath and the Mysterium,
as well as a Paris-Class Heavy Frigate called the Boogieman. The
small task force had been set on Outer Patrol Duties in the
Reach System, and were watching over the watchful space. Their
Radar and LIDAR arrays were seeking for any possible tagets, yet
all was quiet on this day. The Admiral had just received his
morning briefs, and was in the Command Center eating a cream
cheese bagel with some Hazlenut Coffee to wash it down. It was a
morning in space like any other, but the day was young. It could
change, and very quickly...

The thin lights of the passing stars snapped back to singular
dots in the inky blackness with a boom, at least to those
present in the ships that have entered this as of yet
undiscovered system.
Several Expansion-Class Frigates stretch-snapped into space as
they left Hyperspace, followed shortly by a singular Control
Ship, and two Victory II Heavy Cruisers.
The young officer in charge of this expeditionary fleet, one
Commodore N'in, was pleased with how particularly easy it was to
find a lone terrestrial planet on his first jump to light speed
for the Ascendancy. He ordered the Frigates to begin
preparations of the planetary probes and to prepare a light
scouting party...

GCS Halabar
Bridge
All had been quiet, until now. All of the sudden, the Radar
displays were going crazy, with one ping after another. There
were at least 6 ships, maybe more. One of them was absolutely
gargantuan, and posed a huge threat to Reach if put into action.
The Halabar, Winds of Wrath, Mysterium, and Boogieman all turned
to the direction of the perceived enemies. All guns and missile
pods were readied for action, even the nuclear armaments on
board the vessels, should it ever have to come to that. 600 F-41
Exoatmospheric Fighters were readied for action if need be, and
Admiral John Brantley had been trained for a situation such as
this. He sent out an open communication to all the unknown
vessels, with quite the stern warning. Reach was warned of the
possibility of a major attack, and 8 more Strident Class
Destroyers, along with 3 Charon Class Light Frigates, and 2
Paris Class Heavy Frigates, were on their way from the space
drydocks.
"Unidentified Space Fleet, please identify yourself. You have
entered the sovereign starspace of the Galactic Kingdom of
Gondor. We strongly advise you to turn around unless you seek
Diplomatic interactions with us. We will use any and all
necessary Force to defend what is ours, and your presence is
already known to our planet, and it is preparing reinforcements
already. I am Admiral John Brantley of the 2nd Gondorian Naval
Expeditionary Fleet. You have been warned."

Aboard the Heavy Cruiser Nirn...
"Commodore we are receiving a transmission from the terrestrial
planet!" an ensign called out from the front of the CIC. Murmurs
of confusion grew throughout the Command Center, "sentient
life?", "contacting us?", "Ensign I'll have your position if
your not absolutely sure of this!" Commodore N'in shouted at the
young man, the ensign swallowed nervously, "C-Commodore the
signal is intense and broadcasting a continuous message in a
language I don't recognize." the Commodore approached quickly
and analyzed the message in question.
"This is...we have to report this to the Admiralty Board! Begin
calculations for Hyperspace immediately, send my orders to the
entire fleet!"

In Orbit above Rasalhauge
Babylon 2 Station
Captain Darion Roberts kept a music player next to him when he
sat on duty, or rather stood as he liked to, in the bridge of
the massive station. His favorite place, and rather ironically a
little annoying for the commander stationed there, was in front
of the large, reinforced blast windows that stared into space.
He enjoyed staring off into the dark expanses of the space in
front of him, watching the ships come and go. Every so often,
and more so lately now that things were going rather smoothly,
the large jump gate in front of the station would open, and a
plethora of smaller ships would burst forth from the rifts to
move on impulse power into the docking stations. And that was
just as beautiful as watching a ship move through water.
Babylon 2, the station that Captain Roberts so lovingly cared
for and commanded, was the second construction of the Babylon
stations, which were intended to be places of peace. She was, in
fact, mostly civilian, and the population inside numbered higher
than 500,000 people. A city all in its own right, she stood
eight miles long, with a large blue cylinder stretching from one
end to the other, spinning constantly. That was where every
single man, woman, and child lived inside the station, confined
in over 2 and a half million tons of metal. For them, it could
be a dangerous place on the stretches of the Ultramar system.
One of the four, large ships that patrolled the orbiting city
had just passed by the Bridge, showing off its long, armored
features and weapons batteries. The large warship, a military
owned ship of the Imperial Navy, stretched for 300 meters from
end to armored end, a large Frigate of the Imperial Navy. She
was just one of two Frigates that stood watch. The other two
ships were militia ships, Agamemnon class destroyers who
stretched just at 250 meters, and were undoubtedly not as
massively armed or armored. In fact, in the middle, just like
the station, stood a spinning section of metal, undoubtedly
known as the crews quarters. But she was just as pretty as she
floated in space. At least, Roberts enjoyed them more.
"Morning, Captain. When did you get here? You weren't supposed
to go on duty until 0900." A female voice shot out from behind
the Captain, and he turned to see his first mate walk into the
door, which closed behind her.
"Oh. Not too long ago. I thought I would enjoy the sight. It is,
after all, my first day on the job." He said, and took a sip of
a coffee cup that he had in his hands. "Coffee?"
"No thanks. Well, you're on duty now, so let's go over basics,
shall we?"
Roberts hated going over basics.

Aboard the Dreadnought Prime...
The stretch of stars unfolded before the inky blackness, then
without warning snapped back to singular points of light with a
soft boom. The Grand Admiral opened his eyes, awoken from his
meditation, and sat in the total blackness of his room. The
viewscreen flickered on and the planet in question appeared
illuminated by a bright yellow star, the planet itself was
mostly unremarkable the light brownness was visible even from
this distant view of it. The Grand Admiral pressed a button on
the arm of his chair, a chime played for a second before a voice
was heard from the speakers. "Yes Grand Admiral?" the young
captain from earlier had answered promptly, "Number One order
the scientific vessels to prepare a Class-One probe." he
released his finger from the control panel before the captain
could deliver a "Yes sir!" or "Yes Grand Admiral." the Grand
Admiral sat in silence until he felt a familiar presence at the
back of his mind, he allowed it passage, "This one does not
detect anything Illustrious One." it was a Celligian Counselor
aboard the ship, while it had no name the Grand Admiral had
grown fond of this particular Celligian, The Grand Admiral
thought of kindness and appreciation as a way of expressing his
gratitude for the information it had relayed, the presence
faded. The Grand Admiral sat in silence and forwarded fleet
formations to the captains of the other ships, he felt something
unusual although he just couldn't place it.
