[font=georgia] [I]Five cats sat around[/I] a starry pool,
watching the five Clans with grim expressions. The air was tense
with all of their arguing.
"But SkyClan has just returned!" a blue-grey she-cat pointed
out, "The five Clans don't need another. They'll run out of
space!"
A black and white tom looked up at the blue she-cat and
flicked his long tail impatiently. "Bluestar, you saw it
yourself. The five Clans will make it, so long as they are
willing to work together."
Another cat, this time a dark brown tabby chimed in meowing,
"Tallstar is right, Bluestar. They've had their time of peace,
now it is time for another journey. The five must become six."
The forth cat was a golden-brown tabby with a broken jaw was
the next to speak. "Bluestar is right. They will never fit six
Clan in their current territory. Maybe it's time for another
move."
"Another move?" Bluestar repeated. "Have you gone mad? Don't
you remember all of the cats who died on that journey?"
"Big talk from someone who did not actually take the
journey," Tallstar retorted.
The blue-grey she-cat's tail lashed back and forth in her
irritation. "Big talk from a cat who betrayed his own deputy."
Tallstar narrowed his amber eyes. "Bluestar, you know as well
as I do that Mudclaw wasn't capable of being WindClan's leader.
What about your own deputy? For moons you didn't believe a word
he said and you almost died because of it."
"Stop, both of you," the cat with a broken jaw ordered.
"Since we can't agree, we can all take a vote. The Clans will
either stay and make room for this new Clan, or they will leave
to find a new territory."
The other cats nodded once the crooked jawed tom had stopped
speaking, all in agreement for the first time since they had
gathered.
"All those for the Clans leaving?"
Bluestar and the crooked jawed tom both nodded. The looked at
each other with a worried gaze. It seemed that leaving was the
lesser of two evils.
The dark brown tabby tom narrowed his eyes at the tom with
the crooked jaw. "Leave it to Crookedstar and his RiverClan
pawns to submit to the will of another Clan."
"Raggedstar," Crookedstar growled threateningly. The light
tabby narrowed his green eyes and fantasied about pouncing on
Raggedstar and tearing his ears to shreds.
Raggedstar snorted and meowed, "All those in favor of the
Clans staying?"
This time, Raggedstar and Tallstar spoke, both meowing, "I,"
in unison.
"That leaves us at a tie," Bluestar meowed. She turned to a
light brown tabby she-cat locking gazes with her. "Leafstar,
that leaves it to you. What is the fate of the Clans?"
Leafstar flicked her tail and looked at the other leaders.
Crookedstar and Raggedstar were at each other's throats again
and Bluestar looked like she was going mad.
"SkyClan has just settled with the lake Clans," she meowed
dully. "Even so, there's no room for [I]six[/I] Clans at the
lake. I vote the five Clans move."
