Frostpelt was in the forest, up in the branches of a pine
tree. The white she-cat was crying; she had just received some
terrible news. Her mother was dead.

Foxstar started to pad out of his den for a walk, his yellow eye
scanned across the forest grounds. The red tom frowned slightly
once he saw Frostpelt. The tom hadn't cared much for the she
cat, but he didn't want to leave her alone like that. The red
tom padded slowly towards her, his yellow eye looking concerned.
[b]"Is anything wrong?"[b] he asked, his voice much softer than
before.

Frostpelt jumped in surprise, almost falling off of her
branch. "Foxstar! Dear StarClan, don't sneak up on me like

Frostpelt dug her claws into the branch she was perching on,
feeling depressed. The white she-cat was shaking; all she could
think about was her mother.

Frostpelt shook her head. She had just hear about her
mother's passing this morning; there was no way Foxstar could
have known about her death at this point.
