NeoConfederate Culture
By: Confederacy of Turkducken Date: August 7, 2015, 12:05 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
This page would be dedicated to official postings regarding the
culture of individual States. If this proves to be liked, it
would be nice to get it pinned.
Some things to post would be: Popular Music, Art, Sports
Culture, local traditions, popular sayings in the State, TV or
Radio Shows, or anything else that could be considered relevant.
However this could just turn into a thread where we share music,
if that's the case it should be moved to the Arts discussion.
While I find it very tempting to do nothing but make my personal
favorites the popular music in my State, I'm actively trying to
find songs, art, etc. that actively reflect the State, and while
I'm not going to enforce that on anyone, I would like to say
please try.

Art
Columbia's rich religious history has inspired the likes of
Baptist artist and minister Vincent Halas. Halas, a poor Baptist
preacher, became famous when he made the painting "Revelations"
which depicted faithful souls going to heaven while Jesus comes
down to reign over earth.
Religion
Columbia is the most religious state in the NeoConfederate
States having 65% of all residence claim to be religious and
nearly 58% attend church regularly on Sundays. 36% of the
religious population are Baptist, followed by Methodists,
Presbyterians, and Episcopal.
Accent
Columbia is known for their twang and drawl. Using terms like
"y'all" and "howdy" are extremely common, even for top end
officials and university graduates.
Traditions
Every July 4th, Columbia celebrates Independence from Great
Britain. Every Sunday, most stores, including gas stations, are
shut down to keep the Sabbath Day Holy. Religious holidays are
usually taken seriously including a mass prayer held in
Georgetown every Christmas to celebrate the birth of our Savior.

((Sticking to the same form as Columbia, and great idea for a
thread btw, Turkducken :) ))
Amerikanisches Reich / "Amerikaner" Culture
Music
Most popular (non-military)
Nationalsozialistische-Partei-approved music:
Composers (all works of the below are Party-approved):
Ludwig von Beethoven
Richard Wagner
Anton Bruckner
Hans Pfitzner
Johann Sebastian Bach
Antonio Vivaldi
Johannes Brahms
Performers and conductors:
Hans Hotter
Herbert von Karajan
Clemens Krauss
Elly Ney
Li Stadelmann
Katharina Schüttler
Marlene Dietrich*
Teddy Stauffer
*Banned in the Third Reich, although she began her career in
Germany and was regarded as one of the era's most gifted
singers, for 'defecting' to America and appearing in Hollywood
productions. However, since the AR is much less concerned that
art be "essentially German" in all ways, and is, of course, in
North America, so she has been posthumously 'rehabilitated'.
Note: Despite the somewhat dated emphasis on orchestras and big
bands, with the exception of female solo vocalists, popular
Reich music is not mostly classical and is usually composed for
dancing in clubs. Swing music is common and much-loved, and is
not prohibited by the Party, but is somewhat looked down upon as
"degenerate" in the upper echelons of the state.
As in most other places, classical and baroque music is seen as
"highbrow", and in most citizens' lives it is reserved for
special nights out at the symphony. It is also often played in
public buildings and on public transport.
Opera, however, is rather popular in all venues and forms, and a
"pop opera" genre has emerged as a challenger to other pop
music.

Currently the State of Turkducken is going through a "rock n'
roll" phase amongst the populace. Please bear with the populace.
