The Newly Formed Volunteer Army of the Confederate State of Turk
ducken
By: Confederacy of Turkducken Date: July 16, 2015, 5:41 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
His Excellency is reforming the volunteer armed forces to match
current modernization standards that are rapidly changing the
country. These include the modernization of armored forces,
Volunteer Elites, air units, and the newly formed Volunteer
Navy. Currently the Lt. Colonel Michael Bishop is the highest
ranking military officer in the Volunteer Forces, but is
receiving training in DEN. This following dispatch will be
public information, as it occurs, for the consumption and
viewing of other member States. Lt. Colonel Michael Bishop has
received promotion to Active High General of the Turkducken
Military.
The Future Structure of the Volunteer Armed
Forces
Active Volunteers: 100,000 Men and Women
Elite Volunteers: 250
Reserves: 30,000
Notes: Every Man or Woman in the State of Turkducken is neither
compelled nor forced to serve. Every Volunteer is a volunteer,
but with a recent upsurge of Patriotism in the State volunteers
are easily found and recruited.
The Army will be comprised of 3 Main Divisional Units, each
comprised of 30,000 Volunteers. These will be known as the First
Regional Divisional Army, the Second Army of Peace, and the 5th
Army of Conquest. The Regional Divisional Army will be
responsible for MP duties in the State as well as in NCSA abroad
and otherwise, having the largest Reserve force and some of the
lightest hearts in the Armed Forces, hopefully these men and
women will prove useful to other States as well as the
President. The Second Army of Peace will be responsible for R&D,
as well as the maintenance and security of State leaders,
Foreign Leaders, and Secret Projects being developed by the
Confederate State of Turkducken. Lastly 5th Army of Conquest
will be used for aggressive purposes, should the need arise.
These include Defense of the State, Invasion Forces, Protection
of the NCSA Capitol (should it ever need it), and the
Constitutional given right of overthrowing the President (Should
the populace ever feel vehemently ignored and oppressed by the
President and established Government.) The remaining 10,000
Active Volunteers have been formed into the Medical Corps of
Turkducken. Trained surgeons, combat medics, nurses, and general
practitioners will be reasponsible for the lives of Turkducken
Troops, Allied Troops, Citizens in the combat zone, and any
captured POWs and their personal well being.
The Newly Armored Divisions of Turkducken
The needed volunteers: 50,000
The President's ideal number: 70,000
Current Actual Volunteers: 15,000
Notes: Armored Units or Vehicles are distrusted by the populace
of Turkducken, as many villages, lives, businesses, and homes
were destroyed by the Mad Kings Armies During the 100 Year
Conflict.
The Armored Divisions are to be used sparingly, not because of
lack of appropriate resources but because of the environmental
standards Turks religiously hold, however the need for Mobilized
Armored Units is known and is being built to satisfy that need.
The smallest unit of Armored Forces would be a company, 10
armored units of any kind, these are to be formed into a
Platoon, 50 armored units, to a Battalion, 500 armored units, to
a Brigade, 5,000 armored units, to finally Divisions, 10,000
armored units. These Divisions will be named for usage in
operation, The Division of Attack, of Defense, of Support, of
Rescue, and of Retreat. Specs of developed and developing
weapons will be released later. The Division of Attack will be
responsible for aggressive actions against any Enemy Forces,
Defense will be responsible for defending the State of
Turkducken and strategic military installations on and off the
battlefield, Support will be responsible for supporting the
Turkducken Armed Forces, Navy, and Air Force, along with any
Friendly or Allied Forces, Rescue will be responsible for
transporting Medics and the Injured to and from locations on or
off the battlefield, Retreat will be responsible for managing
and assisting Volunteers, Civilians, and Allied troops tactical,
and otherwise, retreats from conflict. This also includes the
responsibility of covering movements off the battlefield.
The New Air Forces of Turkducken
Estimation of needed Volunteers: 50,000
The President's ideal number: 80,000
Actual Volunteers: 10,000
Notes: Planes were rare in the State during and before the 100
Year Conflict, making a profound impact on the public's
consciousness.
The few air capable vehicles located in Turkducken are mostly
for private use, or the transportation of goods in and out of
the country, and either dilapidated or old by modern standards.
Most are powered by piston based engines that provide forward
propulsion via propellers, these prove to be slow and rather
clunky to even the most basic of jet powered aircraft. While the
initial Volunteers are enthusiastic and eager to prove
themselves in combat and otherwise, the lack of modern aircraft
is holding these dreams back, for now. Aircraft will be formed
into Squadrons, comprised of 10 units, which are then formed
into Air Regiments, comprised of 4 Squadrons, which will be
formed into Wings, comprised of 5 Air Regiments, which are then
formed into Divisions, 5 Wings, which are finally formed into
Commands, comprised of 10 divisions. Every Command will be
responsible for separate and unique duties these include, Aerial
Defense, Aerial Bombardment, Maintenance, Aerial Security, and
Evacuation. Aerial Defense will be responsible for Intercepting
Enemy Aircraft, Aerial Bombardment will be responsible for the
Strategic Bombardment of Enemy Military Installations,
Maintenance will be responsible for the upkeep and restoration
of Turkducken Aircraft as well as the restoration and salvage of
Enemy Aircraft, Aerial Security will be responsible for the Air
Integrity of the State and the Capitol of the NCSA if it is ever
needed, Evacuation will be responsible for the rescue of the
Injured, Civilians, and combat forces (Friendly or Turkducken)
from the battlefields or otherwise needed from hostile areas.
The First Navy of Turkducken
Estimation of needed Volunteers: 75,000
The President's Ideal number: 100,000
Actual recruits: 5,000
Notes: With the recent acquisition of the Chesapeake Bay Area
The President of Turkducken wishes to make full use of this new
untapped resource.
The First Navy of Turkducken will be a historic first in the
State, as ocean access has never been had in the history of the
State. This new branch of the armed forces would be grand in
scale to the President's liking, however not much is known about
the purpose of this rapid Oceanic Development and it is assumed
that it would be used for peaceful purposes. This will be
updated as the Navy fully develops.
Updated: The Navy will be brought into three large
organizational units, the Naval Exploration Flotilla, the Armada
of Defense, and the Fleet of Supply. The Naval Exploration
Flotilla will the smallest comprising of support ships,
frigates, and a destroyer. The Armada of Defense will be the
largest militarily containing the carriers cruisers and
destroyers. The Fleet of Supply will be the largest amount of
ships in the Turkducken Navy, consisting of medical ships (only
one as of now) scrappers, minesweepers, and coastal landers.
[b]Military Officers of Turkducken
Leading Commanding General of Turkducken Volunteer Forces:
General Michael Bishop
General of the First Regional Divisional Army: John T. Shepherd
Captain: Upton Truman
General of the 2nd Army of Peace: Ian M. Harding
General of the 5th Army of Conquest: Richard "Cain" Kasich
Other Commanding Officers have yet to be appointed.
Contracted Companies for the Production of Military
Goods:
Ammunition is produced by the Robert and Robert Production
Company, R&R PC, one of the largest providers of industrial jobs
to Turks, they are a notably progressive company with the
establishment of a minimum wage, a progressive working week, and
using modernized technology in the role of mass production.
Proving to their competitors that quality can still be
established in the Industrial sector while mass producing the
required amount of product, they have taken over the majority of
the Arms Manufacturing Industry. Maintaining, what is likely to
be in the future, a monopoly.
Most designs for weapons, vehicles, new technology, etc. are
developed by the Research and Development Division of the Army.
These designs are nationalized and any company, or Industry, can
choose to produce them for the Volunteer Armed Forces.
Ships are designed and manufactured at the Pharq Naval
Production Facilities located in the Chesapeake Bay
Area.(Located in where Norfolk is IRL) The Company is also
responsible for the workers who have made a thriving community
in the area, as the Company technically lies outside of the
"Civilized" Area of Turkducken any government sanctioned
services (Water, Electricity, Police, etc.) do not cover this
area. The Company makes huge profits both from the Turkducken
Government and Private Contracting with other States. Although a
rapid grassroots movement is growing to ratify the Company into
the Turkducken settled land.
Turkducken National Air Service provides exclusive production
for all commercial, civilian, and military vehicles. While
roughly inexperienced in the construction of Jet-Powered
Aircraft, they have been studying the designs and schematics of
the Enduracan Air Jetliners recently arriving (although with
less frequency now) to understand modern aircraft design. (In
Secret, they are also the industrious company in charge of
producing and researching airships.)
While the Turkducken Motor Company was phased out early in his
career by the President, the workers found themselves new work
in the production of armored vehicles for the military. They
have since taken to their new job with pride and purpose, while
still operating under the same name, most designs for armored
vehicles have been developed by the TMC.
Firearm Production in Turkducken has widely and traditionally
been done at a village level, most designs for the Rangers
weapons, and any privately owned weapons have been produced by
local gunsmiths. While most designs are shared (or at least
those that prove to be a roaring success) between gunsmiths,
quality and production cost varies widely from smith to smith.
That was until the formation of the National Volunteer Army. A
small group of gunsmiths, varying in age and skill, in a wave of
patriotism formed a coalition, the coalition has since grown in
popularity containing some of the best smiths in Turkducken. The
Coalition is loosely organized into Groups or "Families" as
they've become known, the Coalition organizes production between
the "Families" and establishes basic pay, work ethics, and
quality control. Other regulations vary between Families, most
Military Contracts are handled by the Elkoss Family. Ranger
Contracts, which are paid by their own personal salaries, are
still traditionally handled by independent gunsmiths that
they've personally grown to trust and respect.

The Elite Volunteers of Turkducken
Members: 200 Men and 50 Women (Unknown how many still exist in
the Wild)
Qualities: Volunteers that fought most of their lives in the 100
Year Conflict. Rough Survivalists, varying ages and gender,
severity of training is dependent on trainers.
Responsibilities: Security of the President, Tactical
Operations, Sensitive Operations, Intelligence Gathering,
Specialized Combat Units.
Notes: Most of the Elite Volunteers served under the President's
Army of Peace during the 100 Year Conflict.
The Rangers historically were a group of men and women who
travelled, not wanting to settle in large communities or even
with other people. Folk Heroes, Idols, and beloved by the
general population is what they have become, much to their
almost collective distaste. Rangers treat other members with
respect, camaraderie, and, in some cases, family. With the rise
of the Monarchy some 100 years past, the Rangers became
fractured on opinions of Government and its necessity. With the
eventual rise of the Mad King from the Monarchy, many Rangers
left Turkducken for the wilderness and headed West away from the
Civil War that was brewing, the minority of the Rangers who
thought that government was necessary further divided on whether
the Mad King was the rightful ruler of Turkducken or not, those
who believed in him joined his armies as Specialized Operatives,
becoming saboteurs and assassins. When the yet to be President
Faraday raised up organized rebellion to the Mad King he looked
to whatever remaining Rangers existed and sought out their help,
some joined other did not. When the President began winning
militarily and humanitarianly against the Mad King some of the
Operatives defected from the King becoming disillusioned with
their former master and joining the President to redeem
themselves. Some of the Rangers took a liking to the Veterans of
the President's Army of Peace, and began some basic survivalist
training. This conglomerate of Rangers and Veterans became what
we know today as the Elite Volunteers, while not every Volunteer
is a Ranger, and vice versa, the basic principles of
individuality and survivalism have retained through the
modernization of a fighting force. Modern Elite Volunteer's pick
weapons that suite their individual preferences and needs, basic
training is the standard infantry drills along with bare bones
survival in the Appalachian mountains. Some of the older members
have left the Volunteers to try to recapture what they see as
the lost "old ways".
While no official list exists for armament of these men and
women, the most commonly used weapons are listed below.
Handguns
.45 Caliber Hand Cannon
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/70/Colt-arme-1860-p1030159.jpg/300px-Colt-arme-1860-p1030159.jpg
Weight: 2 lbs. 11 ounces
Length: 14 inches
Barrel length: 8 inches
Caliber: .45
Action: Percussion
Feed: 6-round cylinder
Considered by many to be the gun that won the Northern
Mountains, this historic Hand Cannon was one of the very first
weapons made exclusively by Turkducken weapon smiths. This has
been the historical gun of the Elite Volunteers, as many
folktales and popular culture in Turkducken will dispel any
doubts. Many Elite Volunteers continue usage of this weapon, as
it is famous for its reliability even in the roughest
environments, and the rifle attachment it provides for extra
stability.

Buck Master
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4a/Browning_buckmark.jpg/300px-Browning_buckmark.jpg
Weight: 34.0 ounces
Length: 9.5 inches
Barrel Length: 5.50 inches
Caliber: .22
Action: Blowback
Feed: 10 round box magazine
As the Elite Volunteers spend most of their time in the wild
away from civilization, protection against wild animals is a
necessity. This handgun is both deadly and reliable, as it needs
to be considering the heavy usage in the wildlands. This is
another handgun with multiple uses as it also comes with a rifle
stock, scope, and barrel attachments for increased accuracy and
range.
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a9/Buckmark_Rifle_22_Target_1.jpg/220px-Buckmark_Rifle_22_Target_1.jpg
Dirty Business Concealed Pistol
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c7/PB_pistol.jpg/300px-PB_pistol.jpg
Weight: 2 lbs.
Length: 12 inches with suppressor, 6 inches without
Barrel Length: 4 inches
Caliber: 9mm
Action: blowback, double-action trigger
Feed: 8 round box magazine
While not especially common in the modern Elites, the historical
usage of this weapon cannot be overlooked. Many Elite guards
used this handgun during the 100 Year Conflict for high profile
assassinations, and this gun is rather infamous in the public
conscience. As it harkens back to a time of political, economic,
and societal instability. This weapon is favored by the
assassination experts in the Elite Volunteers.

M40A3: 1,124 mm (44.25 in)
Barrel Length: 610 mm (24 in)
Caliber: .308
Action: Bolt Action
Feed: 5-round integral box magazine
The hostile woodlands of the wild proved problematic to the
early settlers of Turkducken. High mortality rates by animal
mauling's were extremely common in Old Turkducken, and this
rifles invention has a direct correlation to the decrease of
these events. Both the Civilian issue and the Military issue are
used by the Elites with many having custom modifications to suit
the individual's needs.
Walter WA-2000
HTML http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/sniper/sn15/wa2000-1.jpg
Weight:6.95 kg (15.3 lbs.)
7.35 kg (16.2 lbs.)

Caliber: .300 Winchester Magnum, 7.62×51mm NATO, and 7.5×55mm
Swiss
Action: Gas-operated, rotating bolt
Feed: 6 round detachable box magazine
This exotic, and rather expensive, weapon was built during the
reign of the former God-King. The King had these designed and
built during some of the last years of his throne, and were
given to any Elite Guards, now mostly part of the Elite
Volunteers, as gifts to ascertain their loyalty to the throne.
Now the few that remain are prizes held individually to each
Elite.
Mossberg 590A1
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/dd/PEO_Mossberg_590A1.jpg/400px-PEO_Mossberg_590A1.jpg
Weight: 5.5 lbs.
Length: Varies
Barrel length: 14 to 30 inches
Caliber: 12 gauge, 20 gauge, .310 Bore
Action: pump-action
Feed: varies, 5+1 to 8+1 rounds; internal tube magazine
This versatile weapon is used by many Turkducken citizens, as
well as some of the Newly Formed MP. The weapon has many shapes
and forms in both the Turkducken Elites and the civilians, the
weapon has been shortened, lengthened, modified etc. to the
point where any classification for all the different forms it
has taken would take months.

Research and Development on many new military technologies have
begun, listed below are the proposed developments of armored
vehicles to be used in the Turkducken Armed Forces. Some of the
prototypes have made impression amongst their crew, and while
personalization is not strictly forbidden in the Volunteers it
is not ideal, but many of the Prototypes have been customized to
reflect the attitudes of the crew.
Artillery
WR-40 "Tortoise"
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/1c/WR-40_Langusta%2C_MSPO_2007.JPG/300px-WR-40_Langusta%2C_MSPO_2007.JPG[/img]
Weight: 37,479 lbs.
Length: 28 ft. 2 in
Width: 8 ft. 4 in
Height: 9 ft.
Crew: 4
Caliber: 122.4 mm (4.8 in)
Barrels: 40
Maximum firing range: 42 km
Armor: Steel
Engine: Iveco Aifo Cursor 8 EURO 3 259 kW (347 hp)
Suspension: 6x6 wheeled
Operational Range: 650 km (400 mi)
Speed: 85 km/h (53 mph)
While under the correct environmental circumstances this mobile
artillery unit is rather fast and efficient, many troops have
mocked it being so perfectly designed for flat terrain as
Turkducken is rather hilly and mountainous. This low mobility
machine has been given the nickname of "Tortoise" by the troops.
M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS)
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ef/MLRS_05.jpg/300px-MLRS_05.jpg
Weight: 55,000 lbs. (24,950 kg)
Length: 22 ft. 6 in (6.85 m)
Width: 9 ft. 9 in (2.97 m)
Height: 8 ft. 6 in (2.59 m)
Crew: 3
Caliber: 227 mm
Barrels: 12
Maximum Firing Range: 165 or 300 km
Armor: Reinforced Steel (Resistant to IEDs)
Engine: Cummins Diesel 500 hp (368 kW)
Suspension: Treads
Operational Range: 640 km (400 miles)
Speed: 63.2 km/h (40 mph)
While initial tests have are promising the current "dud" rate of
the rockets fired is 2%, after bombardment a considerable number
of rockets would be undetonated on the ground leaving friendly
troops or civilians in danger. The Engineers are working on
reducing this percentage to almost zero. Adaptions are also
being made to change the current targeting system to GPS.
M777 Howitzer
HTML http://olive-drab.com/images/id_m777howitzer_02_700.jpg
Weight: 4,200 kg (9,300 lbs.)
Length:Combat: 10.7 m (35 ft. 1 in)
Travel: 9.5 m (31 ft. 2 in)
Barrel length: 200 Inches
Crew: 7+1
Shell: M107, M795, ERFB, M982
Carriage: split trail
Elevation:0° to +71.7°
Rate of fire: Normal: 2 rpm
Maximum: 5 rpm
Effective firing range:M107: 24 km (14.9 mi)
ERFB: 30km (18.6 mi) base bleed
Excalibur: 40km (25 mi)
This 155mm artillery piece is supposed to be the largest caliber
in standard artillery units that are being developed. Using a
digital system that is relatively new to Turkducken, ensures
that this artillery piece is going to be rapidly deployed and
used in combat.
8" M110 Self-Propelled Howitzer
[img]
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4b/203mm_Self-Propelled_Howitzer_M110A2.JPG/300px-203mm_Self-Propelled_Howitzer_M110A2.JPG[/img]
Weight:28.3 metric tons (62,390 lbs.)
Length: 10.8 m (35 ft. 5 in)
Width: 3.1 m (10 ft. 2 in)
Height: 3.1 m (10 ft. 2 in)
Crew: 13 (Driver, 2 Gunners, 2 Loaders, (8 Support Crew–Other
Vehicle))
Armor:13 mm (.51 in)
Main Armament: 8" (203 mm) M201A1 Howitzer 2 Rounds
Engine:Detroit Diesel 8V71T, 8-cylinder, 2-stroke, turbocharged
Diesel 405 hp (302 kW)
Suspension: Torsion bar
Operational Range: 523 km (325 mi)
Speed:54.7 km/h (30 mph)
This 203 mm monster of a self propelled artillery piece is that
currently the biggest draw back is the gun itself. The gun has
to be completely manually lowered by the operating crew to
reload, while this process is not physically demanding, it
requires the crew to realign the target every time it is
reloaded.
L118 Light Gun
HTML https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/45/Royal_Artillery_Firing_105mm_Light_Guns_MOD_45155621.jpg/300px-Royal_Artillery_Firing_105mm_Light_Guns_MOD_45155621.jpg
Weight: 1,858 kg (4,096 lbs.)
Length: 8.8 m (28 ft. 10 in)
Barrel length: 3,885mm
Width: 1.78 m (5 ft. 10 in)
Height: 2.13 m (7 ft.)
Crew: 6
Shell: L31 HE
L45 Smoke Based Ejection
Target Markers
L43 Illuminating
L42 HE
Carriage: box trail, firing with wheels on the ground or
platform
Elevation: -5.625° (-100 mils) to 70.3125° (1,250 mils)
Rate of fire: 6-8 rounds per minute
Effective Firing Range: 17,200 m (18,800 yd) (20.6 km (22,500
yd) extended range using base bleed)
While this 105mm Artillery unit is rather large for a light
designation, this will be the smallest caliber available in the
armed forces. This gun will also serve utility purposes, such as
marking air strikes, covering retreating units with smoke,
anti-armor, and deconstruction of buildings.

Turkducken National Merchant Marine
With the ever growing Turkducken foreign trade and ship building
business, many fishermen, traders, deckhands, scalawags, and
captains are rushing to procure licenses and ships to exploit
Turkducken's coastline, rivers, and rapidly developing trade
routes. Although not technically apart of the Turkducken Navy,
it has been decided by the various captains that in this time of
internal strife within the Confederacy that they would assist in
any way possible. So declared shortly after its Nationalization
into Turkducken, the Merchant Marine will act as an auxiliary
for the Turkducken Armed Forces, mobilizing troops, transporting
supplies, and the temporary pressing of ships into service will
be provided when necessary.
