((To specify that's two battalions of T-5 Centaurians, two
battalions of TD-140 Metals, and the final battalion of SM-120))
Taking appropriate defensive positions along the left most part
of the map, infantry are along the rightmost river, with a
battalions of tanks along the bottom, the artillery are located
center in between the two rivers and the tank destroyers are
located in the back of the previously mentioned tanks.

The Namenian 1st Division, the Veterans, were dropped off via
airlift on the right side of the map, along with the 71st and
72nd mechanized, the 73rd Calvary, the 78th Artillery, and the
79th Gunship battalions. Without any current recon data
available, their first move was to set up the 8ths and 9ths
artillery batteries in the rounded valley second from the right,
and the HQ the 1st from the right. Both the HQ and the artillery
batteries fielded artillery and aerial search radar, as well as
mobile Interceptor Dome, Beam, Sling, and Mantis systems to
protect against counter battery fire.
The 78th Artillery battalion set up it's A, B, and C batteries
of SPGs around the middle right, with the D and E battery
companies of Mortars waiting for further orders. The static
Artillery battery F Company set up on the upper right with the
G, H, and I rocket batteries. The 10th Headquarters meanwhile
set up behind the mountainous range in the right middle.
The two mechanized battalions took positions just west of the
rocket and artillery HQ, and began to dig in there, setting up
with their AT company. Meanwhile, the Gunship battalion,
comprised of five companies of helicopters, one company of
aerial recon, two CAS, one transport/paratrooper, and one G-47
company set up a temporary airfield facing north behind the
first river from the right.
The 1st through 5th infantry set up along the second and third
river from the right, with the armor from the 8th and 9th dug in
with them. The 6th and 7th paratroopers set up at the airfield.
The first order of battle came from General Castro, ordering the
recon company to begin reconnaissance of the enemy territory.
From the makeshift airfield, five DARTs took off and turned 270
to the west, gaining altitude and speed. They would report live
of the enemy's position, take pictures, and report back.

The armored battalion of T-5s begins movement into the
mountainous terrain of the southern map, with the Tank
Destroyers in tow. The artillery has begun area denial in the
exact middle of the area between the left and right rivers.

The booms of the artillery didn't really reach them. What did
reach them was the soft impact of mines, and the detonation of
one by a stray mine. That drew their attention. The darkness was
lit up by the flash, and an officer took out his binoculars and
attempted to watch. He zoomed in when he thought he saw flashes,
and upon closer inspection, he saw the flashes of guns in the
distance. That drew his attention greatly. And the attention of
the artillery radar.
"Radar to HQ, Radar to HQ, we're picking up multiple contacts on
the artillery radar station. Looks like a battery has been
picking the area for targeting." The reply came in, and the
Battalion Commander frowned. Didn't look like he was shelling
the area. He was just getting the report in from the officer on
the front. He'd give that man a recommendation for that.
"Radio HQ, request counter battery fire four clicks forward of
us. Then radio HQ with the data we got." The Commissar ordered
the radioman in his HQ, then turned to his aide. "What do you
think?"
"Probably some sort of area denial, sir. Maybe just zeroing in?
Think they know how close we are?" The aide asked, and the
Commissar shook his head.
"No... I don't think so. Where's the goddamned Calvary?"
"No idea sir, but... There's the CB." The aide replied.
Sure enough, the information was fed to the three batteries of
SPGs in the back, and they began their fire. Each tank was a 155
mm monster, and could fire six rounds in a multiple round
simultaneous impact. And there were thirty of them. Only ten
were needed, and they showered the air with sixty 155 mm HE
rounds. From the HQ, the noise was audible. From the guns...
They were deafening. The second all sixty rounds were launched,
the tanks immediately ran south at full speed, moving to
reposition.

General Castro was getting the information from the forward HQs
and positions, as well as the Recon, who was taking infrared
photos from above. He hadn't seen anything on visual, except the
artillery fire from the enemy's side. And now the CB fire. He
was currently reporting in direct hits.
The second recon plane was flying over the lower mountainous
region, and their infrared was almost blaring. A whole armored
battalion was moving over to the area, and a large amount of TDs
were in tow as well. This didn't bode well for any advancing
thoughts they might've had.
The third and fourth was ordered to move lower to get some blips
on the infrared, but unfortunately, the enemy Infanty was hiding
themselves pretty well. They only had suspicions on where the
enemy was. All this troubled Castro, who wanted to advance badly
without too many casualties.
"So... This artillery blast... Any ideas?" Castro asked, and
looked around. His aides were thinking.
"Tovarishch General, it looks like area denial. It's got to be,
sir." An aide said, and the men nodded around the room.
"We must take a look in the morning, then. Can we launch the
SRs?" Castro asked, and brought the map up. He marked the areas
where the enemy artillery was, where his units were, and where
the enemy units were. "More troubling than that, comrades, is
the enemy tank and tank destroyer battalions here. That
completely covers the zone here in the middle. Do we have enough
information for CAS coverage?"
"In the morning we shall, Sir. Right now we can only wait."

The artillery cracked and boomed with the warping of metal and
tearing of steel, Lt. Colonel Bishop swore to himself, "How
could I be so careless?" he radioed in to the whatever remaining
units might be left and signaled for concealment and total
silence from the guns. He waited until the initial reports came
back, "20 wrecked guns, 1 marooned without propulsion, and 9
reporting." He grimaced at the news. The only thing left was to
wait for a counter attack and bide their time.
The tank battalion was led by a Captain Steel, "An appropriate
choice." he would muse to himself later, signaling to stop.
Hearing the rather grim news from HQ, he began to question the
preparedness of his commander, clearing such insubordinate
thoughts from his head he ordered the Destroyers to begin
establishing defenses and prepare for the eventual battle that
was soon to come. "And now we wait. Full silence on all engines,
we go dark, hide our positions the best you can men."
