"He can target well over 200 cities with his MIRVS. Each one
would be powerful enough to wipe them out. But they must be
close to each other. He can take out all of Sparta's major
cities with perhaps five missiles. He can take out all of
Enduranca with less. The Golden coast would take five, six,
seven maybe. He's already passed Enduranca, so he won't strike.
But that's 11 missiles, and he still has 17 left. Texas? 6.
After that, it's hands off. He'll keep one MIRV and one main
missile, so that leaves 8 missiles left. 98 MIRVs at 750
kilotons, and one at 50 megatons." He said, and looked over at
him. "Those are the ones we have to worry about most."

       Barbara mouthed something silently.
"... I have a way to make sure he never gets there. As soon as
we find this bastard's fleet, I can scramble a group of
supersonic bombers and slag his ships. If we put it in the
water, perhaps the pressure wave will crush the hull of his
       subs.
"Or we can combine our fleets, give a sudden strike. All we know
is we can NOT let this madman reach the coast."

"That's just the thing. None of you know how to deal with our
Beta I class Ballistics, or our Tetrarch and Tetrarch M classes,
do you? There's no ferrous metals. No chance for MAD. Each one
of these can attack subs can reach 46 knots at full speed. It
can outrun our fastest surface ships, and it can do so easily.
Both can dive to insane depths... and both can run very, very
silently. Like ghosts." He said, and shook his head. "This will
need a combined effort. We have to combine fleets and start
sweeping the waters for the subs. Just the subs. The surface
fleet comes last. And listen, these men are smart. Rhye knows
this. He's counting on us chasing after his surface fleet, and
hes going to make that a very damn good convincing target to get
       to."

"Then we will allow you to lead the way. We will work with you
to counter this nuclear threat. And while I agree that the
surface fleet will come last, shluld we not send bombers and
fighter jets to harass the fleet, keep its attentionn off the
       submarines?"

"Exactly. The first thing we must do is get his fighters out.
Then we can harass him and his subs without worry." He said, and
       smiled.

"What we need to do is strike his carrier first, to wipe out his
aircraft facilities, and make it impossible to launch or recover
any more. We don't need to sink him, just wound him.
"Now, these subs... Surely, you thought of a way to counter
       them?"

"We have no problem with sending our fighter jets to assist in
this operation, and giving Rhye a reason to watch his back. Now,
friend, Gondor is extremely willing to help, but given the
spectrum of states that this budding crisis may effect, I would
call this a matter of national security. Should we not inform
President Gray about this? I'm sure that he would be willing to
put the national military into action to stop this. And as for
the submarine hunting, if MAD won't detect them, then we need to
put assloads of active sonobuoys in the water, so that if they
surface we will know it. Hell, with the sonar systems on our
Tu-142 M ASW plane, we could probably have a good chance of
detecting a sub at periscope depth. What we need to do is hound
the bastard. Have two ASW planes and one supersonic bomber per
squadron, so that if one goes down the bomber can assist the
remaining ASW plane. We will also outfit all our sorties with
countermeasures like chaff, flares, and ECM. All of this of so
that when we get a fix on the location of a sub, especially that
ballistic submarine, we can get it with active sonar, and launch
either depth charges or torpedoes. Hunting submarines this
advanced and quiet is no easy business, but it can be done, so
long as we work together with precision."

"The carriers will be near impossible to hit with its aircraft
still ready. A strike to first take out the aircraft while
simultaneously targeting the enemy with cruise missiles would
cripple him. We can send out a force of ten bombers and fifty
fighters to the west of him, and launch first a large amount of
decoys, and then dump a load of chaff on him. He'll think we're
bombing him, and when he sends fighters to intercept, we will
wipe him out in the air while a group attacks from the east with
cruise missiles. But first we need to find him."
He stopped, and looked at him. "We may. We need a shit ton of
passive sonar Buoys, and a lot of active ones, some decoys, and
an ASW fleet, but we can. We can't start pounding him with
active because he'll just drop below the thermocline and be done
with us. No more worrying about us."

"We can supply the bombers; I have 8 Backfires and two
Longswords ready to go, we just need to remove their nuclear
       payload."
He sighs. "I'll try to get an emergency word out, and recall our
submarines. The last thing we need right now is friendly fire."

"I have 8 G-2 bombers that can be armed with bombs, torpedoes,
or even standoff cruise missiles. I also have 10 Tu-142 M ASW
planes ready to go. We can hunt pretty soon, but we would need
this base to serve as a refueling station and airfield. Now if
you'll excuse me I must call my king to debrief him." Mr.
Schwartz stepped out of the room and told the king of everything
that happened, including that DEN was a nuclear armed state.
