Prime Minster Matthew Raley has been shot

Today 7/5/2015 at 16:37 PM, Prime Minister Matthew Raley of the
Commonwealth of Hirilia was shot with a 30.06 caliber round from
common hunting rifle. The Prime Minister was exiting a small
deli for an unscheduled meal when the attempt was made on his
life. The would be assassin was captured by nearby citizens and
was identified as Lucy Watt-Evans, a member of the isolationist
terror cell The Ibex, the group later claimed responsibility for
the attack. They claim that Matthew Raley's moves to better
integrate Hirilia into the region and the development of of
nuclear arms was in steep contrast to what their beliefs for
what Hirilia was destined for. The Prime Minister was rushed to
St. Mary's Medical Center and remains in critical condition,
with the bullet having shot throw his lungs. In the interim
Minister of the Interior, Elijah Card, will be filling the Prime
Minister position. Card is well known for his militaristic
tendencies, ultra-nationalist views and hostility towards
immigrants and foreigners. More reports will follow.

This is CH Newsroom coming to you live from the city of Old
Boise where The Ibex terror cell has claimed the city for
itself. The Red and Green striped flag that is their symbol
waves from every building and Hirilian citizens are cut off from
escape. With the recent attack on Matthew Raley the country is
seeing the flourishing of radical groups, with rumors that the
apocalyptic cult, The Oak Grove, making a reappearance. All
trade on the snake has been shut down and Commander Buck Larson
has been called from NCSA Camp Lewis to lead the assault to
recapture the city. *cracks of gun fire in the background* Prime
Minister Matthew Raley has been moved to government facility
after a second attempt was made on his life, involving a member
of the radical Ibex association and a large truck filled with
explosives was thwarted." *Turns from camera*" Wait, what? I
don't care what mister Private First Class wants us too move! I
at least made it to 2nd Lieutenant, he listens to me!!" *Turns
back* "This Chip Scarlett, signi... *bullets wizz by, met with
return fire* "Holy (explicit), what the (explicit)?! Ok, ok.....
let me catch my breath, you (explicit). HOLY (EXPLICIT)! *Three
military official grab the news team as the camera rolls,
carrying the team out, screen cuts to blank*

As the screen cuts out, the President stifles a groan. "Mother
of all... what is this region coming to?"
No one at this yet-another emergency meeting could offer an
answer.
"First the Navy... now this..." he shakes his head. "Alright.
Close our border with Hirilia. I want the Air Force to
constantly patrol it. Air Fortuna is still allowed to cross
their airspace as long as Hirilia allows."

In Breaking News, Enduranca has closed all border checkpoints
leading to Hirilia. The President wants to stress any refugees
will be admitted into his country, but wants tight security.
Flights to the nation have been cancelled, but their airspace
continues to be travelled.

Prime Minister Card sends regards, stating that Air Fortuna has
nothing to fear flying over Hirilian Airspace and that Commander
Buck Larson and the Hirilian Militia, STAG and RAM divisions
should have the matter sorted out soon. He apologizes to and
inconvenience these conflicts may have caused. He will alert
Enduranca once The Ibex rebel group has been eradicated.

The Namenian Government, in a not so public correspondence, has
offered the help of an SS battalion in eradicating the
rebellion. It will be fully armed and will land in the affected
areas, should the government permit such a thing.

In response to the recent aggressive actions by the terrorist
organization, Four Star General Erik Haizer of the NCSA Army has
ordered the troops stationed there to a level of readiness to
respond to any threat, and to increase security at Fort Lewis.
While training will continue, soldiers will be also diverted to
Fort Button for training to reduce security and troop safety
issues.

-The Core/Iron Mountain Subterranean Command-
Smoke choked the room. A single light hovered overhead,
showering light onto the 4 men in the room. Prime Minister
Elijah Card, General Lavine, as well as Air Force Commander
Elson Floyd all scowled at the table laid before them. Commander
Buck Larson stood off to one corner, leaning against the wall,
eyeing the other men cooly. On a screen, Matthew Raley was
reading over the reports. His several surgeries had been
successful and he would be out of critical condition within a
week or so. The room was not overly furnished, it had 5 wood and
leather chairs, made with classic Hirilian craftsmanship, a
study table made of solid solid Quebracho wood and granite. To
the left was solid door made of pure steel. The Central Block of
Oak was sporting 4 Tomahawks, a symbol that The Core was now
underway.
"We could just gas the place. Save on military lives and we
wouldn't have to throw Rambo here in to destroy another town."
Suggested Card, jabbing a thumb at Larson, putting on an
commanding air.
The screen crackled and the audio came through, "Absolutely
(explicit) not!" denounced Raley "You have bungled this enough,
you inept little bastard. You have convinced the region that we
are unstable, you've allowed this cell to get out of hand,
you've made Enduranca afraid to be near us and worse yet you
have cost civilian and military lives doing so. When I get out
of this bed, I am going to make sure everyone knows what a
(explicit) up you are! You will never see public office again!!"
At this point Raley was screaming, spittle getting on the camera
with every shout, Card sunk back into seat.
Commander Floyd sighed, the first sound he had made all evening.
"And I take it no air-to-land missiles, due to potential for
civilian causalities. Even with our most advanced targeting
system, the explosions alone will kill some civilians,
never-mind should we miss, or confuse a target." Floyd looked
around the room for approval, being new to The Core he wanted to
impress the older members.
"Ding! Ding! Ding! Give this man a prize Larson." chided Raley.
"Sorry kid, but lets play to win here, its fun to talk about why
we can't do something but until we have this settled, lets look
at what we can do."
Floyd allowed the embarrassment to leave his thoughts and
returned to the map. Old Boise, was much the same city it had
been in the time before the Commonwealth. It had been spared the
razing that New Spokane had received at the birth of The
Commonwealth and stood as a symbol of Hirilia's past. It was
near near the mountains but close enough to justify a base jump
to the city below. More's Mountain could serve as a staging base
but it was not large enough. The men all stared at their limited
options. Finally Larson broke the silence.
"Give me the go ahead, watching you all with your thumbs in your
asses is just pathetic."
"No, absolutely not. Last town you and your posse wandered
through resulted in over $45 million in property damages.
Impressive considering the town was only worth $48 million. You
and your f*****g militia are a walking is a walking natural
disaster." explained Elijah Card.
General Lavine injected "We might have no choice. Every other
option has proven ineffective or too effective. At least with
Larson, we know that he will avoid civilians if he can."
The room fell silent. Then Raley sighed, gave the go ahead and
Larson exited the room, taking Lavine and Floyd with him.
-In Breaking News, there is a media blackout throughout the
surrounding Old Boise and Hirilian air force are guiding Air
Fortuna flights on a path that takes them away from nearby
airspace. The Hirilian government assures both neighbors and
citizens that everything will be fine and that Hirilia should
return to business as usual shortly. Fort Lewis will return to
full function within 24 hours along with the rest of the nation.
The NCSA has nothing to fear as their soldiers are more than
safe in Hirilian land.
