Up on the surface, the flooding had been neutralized, and the
reactor had no damage. They were in the process of repairs, when
       suddenly, the Wendigo exploded.
The two torpedoes had found their mark, compromising the
Werewolf class. In less than a minute, nothing was left of the
sub. Only the four men who had transferred to assist the
       Skinwalker had survived.
"Crash dive!" ordered the CO of the attack sub. " Battery power!
Make for the thermal layer and rig for silent running!"
Less than a minute later, the other sub slipped below the
       surface.

       7th Sub Fleet

"We have a hit! Both torpedoes locked on the Werewolf Class and
ripped her apart, sir!" Sonar replied, and the captain smiled.
Good. He had taken her out. Now the other one... "Contact
diving! She's diving and... God she sounds like a junkyard
       truck!"
"Flood tube 2!" He ordered as Weapons got a lock on her.
       "Launch!"
The 2nd tube flooded and shot out the torpedo, accelerating to
50 knots. She barely needed to ping the sub to get a lock, and
then started pinging wildly, heading right for the sub.

A much louder sonar signature was passing the submarine... the
wreckage of the other. Compartments imploding and flooding,
       metal screeching...
In the meantime, the attack sub limped along, desperately trying
       to retreat.

The torpedo struck the wreckage of the submarine, detonating
against the edge and sending shrapnel across the water. But it
didn't matter, as they still had to continue on. Until they
didn't. The submarine abruptly turned tail and left, smart
       enough not to pursue.

       Endurance Memorial Capitol
       President's Office
       Landfall
"... the Mt. St. Helens is underway to assist her," his Minister
finished, describing the plight of the Skinwalker.
       "And the..."
       "The Wendigo has sunk, sir."
President North was silent for a moment, before suddenly
hurtling his PDA against the window; it bounced off the
bulletproof glass and smashed on the floor.
"Fuck this- Fuck all of it!" the usually calm man raged. "I want
every boat, submarine, floating raft with our flag back in the
harbors! Close them down, don't let anyone in- no one."
"The fleet around Vancouver Island, sir?"
"..." He took a moment to recollect himself. "No. Leave whatever
ships are there there, but don't let any others leave. Send the
newer boats out to patrol our DEN bases, and keep them there.
Mine the damn sound if you have to; I'm sick of these attacks."
He sat back down, having paced angrily like a bristled wolf
around his office. "... Any word from Minister Barbara?"
"No... and none from that region of DEN, sir."
The President gave a soft growl. "I want all our bombers on 24
hour alert; load the Backfires with chaff, decoys, everything
you can cram in them to divert attention, and load the
Longswords with B80s. If Sparta wants to play radioactive, we
can play that game right back."

"In breaking news, the Enduranca Federation has suspended all
trade with outside nations, closing its waters. The country's
transportation minister asserts this is for the safety of ships
       and crew of all nations..."

Sometime later, President North requests the embassy
       representative in his office.

       Diamond Dogs
       Pacific Ocean
       Near Wellsian Empire Waters
       7th Fleet, NAC-701 Intrepid
Captain Rhye was watching the deck of the carrier with amusement
as every so often a plane would land, take off, or move a
little. The air, he knew, was filled with a few AEWACS, just as
a precaution. He knew how the Namenians planned. He knew
everything about them. This was just a little bit necessary. The
fleet, memorizing the planned routes of satellites, had
attempted to avoid them, but they knew that in a few hours, they
would be spotted again. But by now, they were nearing the edge
of Wellsian waters... and were attacking everything. Convoys,
ships, cargo, passenger, and airliners were being shot down left
and right, leaving a trail of carnage in their midst. Just what
       they wanted.

If/when the Namenian representative arrives, he will be whisked
to the hospital in an unmarked car to meet with the President
       upon completion of his surgery.

The representative from DEN was immediately alerted to the
recent events, and rushed himself to the hospital as fast as he
could. There was many things he needed to talk about, and this
assassination attempt was just making things worse.

President North's room was an excecutive suite on the top floor
of the 11-story hospital. He was lying in a traditional hospital
bed, various tubes sticking into his arms, with an oxygen
cannula in his nose. Machines near him monitored all his vitals
and administered the proper amount of drugs to keep the
President of the Federation of Enduranca in working order.
He looked up as the representative arrived. "What, no flowers?"
he joked, chuckling a minute before sighing and shaking his
head. "Sorry, I'm still sort of high on those painkillers. At
       least they work.
"No, I wanted to be angry with you, but as is I'm glad to see
       you."
