Johnathan Gray begins his Presidential Campaign
By: Heavenly Paradise Date: June 25, 2015, 2:01 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The soon-to-be former speaker of the NeoConfederate Congress was
throwing his name in the hat for president. He had set up his
announcement speech to take place in Madison, Gondor, the
capitol of his home state. It had all been arranged and there
were numerous Gondorian news outlets there to record his speech,
as it would be nationally televised. His black hair was slicked
back like a mobster from the 20s, and he wore a black suit with
a white shirt and checkered tie. He was clean shaven, and looked
in his political prime. Once all was ready, he stepped up to the
podium and they were on the air. Mr. Gray took a sip of water
and cleared his throat. He proceeded to adjust his tie and began
to speak clearly into the microphone.
"My fellow NeoConfederates, I have gathered you here today to
take a look at the future. As my term as speaker ends, I am
looking for broader horizons on which to let my life, but more
importantly the life of our great nation take flight. Our nation
faces many problems today that need fixing, and I believe that
with my experience I can help the NCSA get through all her
troubles. That is why I have decided to run for President of the
NeoConfederate States of America. I will be running
independently. If elected I will immediately address three
issues; nuclear weapons, the Texas Civil War, and the building
       of an interstate canal.
Firstly, we come to the issue of nuclear weapons. We know of 2
states that for sure have nuclear weapons: Sparta and Gondor,
with a third state, Hirilia pursuing nuclear weapons. Pundits of
the Antebellum party have expressed concern that these weapons
can easily destroy our world, and they are right. They clamor
for disarmament, but I offer a compromise, a plan which will
benefit all. I do not believe that it would be right for the
Confederate government to take away these weapons, as the states
are sovereign entities with the right to keep and bear arms.
What I would implement is rules regarding the production of
nuclear weapons. A law should be passed that requires states to
declare nuclear weapons if they have them, once developed. This
proposed law should also regulate nuclear weapons usage, such as
no dropping a bomb on someone that you are not at war with, and
only using nukes as an absolute last resort. The reason that I
don't support total disarmament is because there are no doubt
foreign nations outside our borders who have nuclear weapons who
would want to strike us given the chance. Our states having
nuclear weapons serves as a deterrent to a nuclear apocalypse,
       and keeps us safe.
Next, there is the Texas Civil War. The state of Texas has been
war torn for several months now, nearly a year. The east Texan
monarchist insurgents are obviously attempting to overthrow the
legitimate government of Texas, and I will not tolerate that. It
is my duty, per the Constitution, to protect and defend the
states of this NeoConfederacy in times of insurrection, and if
elected I will form a national military and put down those
       murderous rebels in Texas!
Finally, we come to the building of an interstate canal. I am
for the building of an unclaimable canal in the Northwest that
will serve as a trade hub for the NCSA. It would be considered
property of all the states, protected by the Confederate
government. I say we build it now, so that no stateay claim the
proposed area for themselves, preventing the building of a canal
because of State sovereignty. This canal will bring an untold
amount of wealth to the NCSA, and I hope that it can be
       completed as soon as possible.
In conclusion, I am here to help the NCSA on a better path
towards tomorrow, and to make sure that we are as safe and happy
as possible. I am here to be a servant to my country, and I will
put all others before myself in the sake of national integrity.
Our nation is hurting, and needs a fix. If you choose me, I will
do my best to do what us best for this country! Thank you and
God Bless the NeoConfederate States of America! "

A reporter yells out, "You're nuclear law you propose sounds
oddly like the one that the other presidential candidate, Nate
Kennady, proposed in front of the Antebellum Party at their last
meeting and at last word, they are working on such a bill. Did
you know of this, or did u knowingly try to steal this idea of
the Antebellum Party and the creator of this idea, Nate
       Kennady?"

"No, not at all. Mr. Kennady and I met at the Presidential Bar
in Richmond to discuss our collective thoughts on nuclear
weapons, and Mr. Kennady put forth some of these ideals into a
bill I told him I would write, and I agreed with him. To say I
stole his idea is not true. I asked him for an idea, and he gave
it to me. I also have my own personal ideals for upcoming
       nuclear legislation."

Johnathan Gray also asks for permission to tour all states for
       his campaign.

"I also would like to point out that after watching Mr.
Kennady's announcement speech, I will work in conjunction with
Governor Simpson of Texas to end this bloody civil war. I will
ask permission because the states are sovereign, and it is only
polite to get permission from a state that I intend to conduct
military operations in. But, Governor Simpson would not be in
the right to deny a NeoConfederate presence on Texan soil. It is
required of me by the Constitution to protect and defend this
nation in times like these. To deny a requirement of the
Constitution is to commit a crime. All that said, if Governor
Simpson really doesn't want the help, I will offer it and do
everything I can in order to get him what he needs. Even if he
would be in the wrong, I wouldn't place troops on his soil
without his permission if he truly opposed it. But I will most
definitely send medical teams, ammunition, and humanitarian aid
       if military assistance is denied."

originally because your opponent called you out on it. Is this
       true?" The same reporter says.
OOC: Gondor I'm not trying to play mean if that's what you are
thinking by this reporter. This reporter is just really a
       heckler

"Absolutely not. I never at first mentioned how I would go about
it. I never said if I would ask permission, or if I wouldn't.
Please don't say I'm backing out of something I never got into
       detail on. Thank you."
