Shipment of Uranium via Convoy

In light of the huge purchase by DEN, Enduranca has leased three
modified cargo ships to transport the ore. Each ship has a
capacity of 20,000 tons.
In order, the ships are the Pacific Pintail, the Pacific Heron,
and the Pacific Pioneer.

The ships will depart Landfall Harbor at 1430 hours Endurancan
time, and will be escorted by the frigate ENS Fortuna, as well
as the corvettes ENS Perserverance and ENS Independence. The
ships may pass through waters belonging to Evergreen Columbia,
and that nation is free to provide escort while they transit
through.
-- In secret-- The attack submarine Lycan will also be trailing
the convoy. It will pass on the right of Vancouver Island,
monitoring the waters. Once the convoy has passed, it will
return to port.
The convoy is expected to arrive in DEN waters 30 hours after
departure. DEN is free to provide escort to a harbor that it
wishes.

DEN will provide an escort of two destroyers for the escort, as
the ships will be passing through dangerous waters. The two
ships, DS-650 and DS-651 are already near the nation, having
been operating as escort ships for passenger ships from Heavenly
Paradise before their fall. Both ships will meet up with the
fleet and will help escort them into DEN waters.

The sonar man was moving all over the place. He was just
tracking a few blips on his sonar, and the first one that came
up was the three cargo ships. Then it was the three warships.
Although they didn't entirely know everything about them, their
signatures mostly suggested frigates and corvettes. Short range
ships, but good enough for escorting. The funniest thing,
however, was the presence of a seventh sonar reading. And it was
underwater. Not too deep, but it was there.
"Captain, I'm reading seven targets in the water. Picked them up
on passive sonar. All is in order, except for the last one.
Bogey seven reads like an attack sub." The sonar operator
reported to the captain, and the Captain walked over from his
position on the bridge to listen to it. Yes... they couldn't
hear the rumbling of a nuclear reactor, but they could hear the
props behind it. Sneaky bastard was probably scouting out.
"Target bearing 32 degrees of us, heading straight."
"Range to target?" The Captain asked, and the weapons officer
responded.
"Two miles out. She's heading at full speed, it seems. 30 knots.
We've got a lock on them with the Mark Is."
"Roger that. Sonar, trail them. Report to me any activity they
have. Pilot, move away and prepare to surface to periscope
depth. We need to send a message to Central. Tell them a new sub
is in the waters. Then head back and follow them. Come up right
behind their propellers.... where they can't find us." The
Captain ordered, and the crew responded well by doing exactly
what they were told.
Even if the Howitzer was an old, Krepest class attack submarine,
it was larger and had more weaponry onboard than the Tetrarch.
That unfortunately made it a little less quiet, but it made for
a deadly encounter. The submarine moved away and surfaced far
away from the eyes of neighboring countries, and sent a message
using their direct communication lasers.

EFN ships will remain with the convoy until it is near DEN
waters. Guards on the cargo ships will be transferred off, and
they will begin the journey home.

The sub's commander watched through the periscope as the
encounter took place. Satisfied, he stowed the device.
"All seems in order, then. Anything to report, sonar?"
"No sir. Just the ships and the... wait a minute..."
The commander walked over, but the sonarman shook his head.
"Thought I heard something, but it's gone now."
"Probably just a pod of whales. No worries." He returned to his
stance in the middle of the control room.
"Prepare to come about, and raise the snorkel once we're two
miles out."
"Sir," the first officer interjected. "If we stay far enough
away, we could trail them to their waters. Do a little scouting
of their base."
The captain thought of that... for all of ten seconds.
"Absolutely not. For starters, our boat doesn't have that sort
of range. Second, just looking at their destroyers, I don't want
my boat anywhere near that. Let the Air Force take a look if
they want. Continue to come about, helm."
"Aye, sir, turning to heading 180. Depth?"
"Keep us here for now."
The sleek black sub began a tight turn to port, a heading to
take them back home.

OOC: You actually DO have that range. You could go from new york
to germany and patrol for a little before needing to come back
:P

"Message sent, sir." The communications officer reported,
turning to the Captain. He was looking out the periscope of the
sub while they were at the correct depth. Not only that, but he
had his radar out, and was scanning the area on normal bands. So
far, nothing. Then...
"Radar, you reading this? Bogie, two miles out. She's
snorkeling." The Captain reported, and zoomed in on the
periscope. He couldn't see it. "Pilot, trail the sub at a safe
distance. Get behind them. Dive down below depth."
"Roger that. Adjusting course." The pilot replied, and the
submarine began shifting into it's needed position before moving
on ahead at 20 knots, trailing the sub right behind it where
it's sonar couldn't see it.

OOC: Playing it safe. The Werewolf-class is based off the
Type-209, which has a range of 800 km fully submerged (not
snorkeling). And even less when she's powering at 20+ knots

"Turn complete," the helmsman announced.
"Good job," the commander noted, and ordered the snorkel raised.
The little device poked its head above the water's surface,
allowing the boats diesel engines to breathe. With the engines
turned on, the sub powered through the waters as her batteries
recharged.
The crew was oblivious to the threat behind them.

OOC: That's based off of the battery power, not the actual
range.
IC:
The weapons officer smiled, and whispered gently to himself,
"boom..". At this range, closing in to a mile or less, the
submarine could almost hear the people talking. Like a large
dinner party, but still. If they had been given orders to kill,
that sub would be destroyed within seconds of the torpedo
firing. He knew it for sure. There would be little time to arm
itself before it hit.
Now they only had to trail the sub back to it's origin, mark it,
and leave to go back to home base, the Captain mused. That was,
after all, their specialty. Damn it for not being a Tetrarch he
had command of! The Krepest was a good sub, but the Tetrarch was
so much smaller than it, and much stealthier underwater. 22
knots silent! And here they were pushing 18 to not be heard.

OOC: MAD doesn't have a very far detection range, and the sub is
a titanium/steel alloy with rubber padding on it. It's designed
to reduce it's magnetic and sonar signature.
