The soldiers sat in the seats of the limo with caution, taking
care to watch out for potential idiots who wanted to get near
the Emperor. When all was finished with getting inside the cars,
the soldiers closed the doors, sat back, and waited. They
watched through the windows the speeding cityscape, finally
approaching the Capitol. Every man knew what was on the other's
mind: can we trust them with The Emperor? Sure they stopped an
over eager man from getting near him, but no one except the
Emperor knew or trusted whether he'd be safe here.
They were even more worried when the car stopped at the Capitol
building and there were rangers everywhere. They looked at
Maximus, who nodded with a gentle, understanding smile. Even if
he was a target, he knew how to take care of himself. His armor,
and his skill would undoubtedly protect him. "It's quite alright
boys. I've been in much more dangerous situations."
"Sir, we'd still like to get out first." One of the soldiers
said, and the Emperor nodded. How could he refuse? It was their
job, and it was an honor to protect him.
"How can I refuse? I could tell you to not worry, but then you'd
worry even more. You're Honor Guard. The title has Honor in it,
and it is something you are filled with. Honor. So with that in
mind, I'd be happy to oblige." Maximus said, adjusting in his
seat. He watched them, and a soldier pulled a pistol out of his
backpack, handing it to him. "That's quite alright, friend. I
have one in my holster, and I think my sword would do fine."
"As you wish." The soldier said, and clipped the gas mask back
into place, nodding at his Emperor. He got up, and got out into
the sun and crowds. He was the machine gunner, and his large
Bullpup LMG was quite visibly in his hands, his hand on the
pistol grip, and one hand pushing himself out of the car.

The Limos pulled up to the end of a long carpet heading up the
capital steps. As at the airport the area had been cordoned off,
this time by Rangers and Capitol Police. A special area had been
set up for dignitaries on the steps just behind where the
swearing in would take place. The driver got out and opened the
door near the carpet. Standing there waiting to receive the
Emperor was a familiar face, Calvin Peterson former Governor of
the state and Former Vice President of the NeoConfederate
States. As the Honor Guard exited the limo Peterson held his
arms up expectantly. Looking at the guards he said, "Gentlemen
you have a job to do, I could be carrying a weapon." Then
looking in the vehicle he said, "Your highness, it is indeed a
pleasure to see you again after such a long time. If the heat
disagrees with you they are serving sweet tea and bourbon at the
viewing area."

King William and his delegation arrived in their limo to the
capitol. The King got out of his vehicle and was protected by
his 5 Royal Marines ad they got up the steps, exchanging glances
with Calvin Peterson. "It is nice to see you here, Mr.
President." They went into the viewing area, and the king got
himself some bourbon. Little did he know of the crisis occurring
back home.

The King knew not of the crisis, but the Marines did. And they
had decided to keep the king in the dark about it. It was
horrible. Civilians massacred, Prince Charles dead, and marines
dead as well. At first they didn't know what to think, but
clarity came into the picture as Prince William had declared
himself for the rebel cause. The king had been betrayed by his
own son, and they had made their decisions. They would not side
with those who shed innocent blood and shoot protesters. To do
so was to support tyranny, and they valued freedom above all
else. They would be the first chain reaction to start the
revolution, the catalyst towards the unstoppable chain reaction
of freedom. They were like a nuclear bomb reaching critical
mass, and surely ready to explode, and light the earth with the
fires of war. They looked at one another, and knew what had to
be done to achieve their goals, and that of Prince William's, or
rather soon to be King William's. The head marine, a chief
lieutenant, took his rifle, stood behind the king, and fired
right into the back of his head. The king crippled and slumped
over, dead instantly from the shot at point blank range. The
marines then turned the weapons in themselves, and committed
suicide. Their sacrifice had been worth it. Heavenly Paradise
would now be free.

The honor guards were the first to frisk him, attempting to
search the man for weapons. As expected, they found none, and
nodded to Maximus, who stepped out of the car. He had his trench
coat off, just leaving his normal military suit, albeit
unbuttoned and the tie down a little. He smiled to the other
soldiers, who took off their gas masks and coats, leaving their
armor and cloaks on them. Maximus came up and held out his hand
for the man to shake. "Hello again, my friend. It has been a
long time. Thank you. Would you show me the way?"

Soon retiring Governor Jefferson Davis Montead came down the
steps from the capitol accompanying Governor Elect Matt
Harrison. They both stopped at the podium set up on the steps
and Montead took a set with the guests. A woman in robes
carrying some sort of book walked to the podium. Natives
whispered to the guests that she was Chief Justice Mary R.
Russell. She held out the book and the Governor Elect put his
hand on it. She then said, "Please repeat after me. I,Matt
Armstrong Harrison, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully
execute the Office of Governor of the Confederate State of
Missouri, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect
and defend the Constitution of the Confederate State of
Missouri, and the Constitution of the NeoConfederate States,
against all enemies, foreign and domestic so help me God." After
the oath had been administered she turned to the assembled crowd
and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen I now present the 39th Governor
of the Confederate State of Missouri, Matt Armstrong Harrison."
Governor Harrison then took the podium, and after tapping the
microphone began, "Ladies and Gentlemen, fellow citizens,
honored guests. As many of you may know I am the first Governor
of Missouri elected on the Democratic Socialist ticket. Ever
since the election returns first started trickling in and it was
apparent that not only would our party win the Statehouse, but
also both chambers of the General Assembly I began asking myself
what had changed. The only answer I could come up with was that
people were tired of the status quo." He then paused here for
applause, "You are tired of the rich becoming richer on the
backs of the poor. You are tired of being held in wage slavery
while the men who run the corporations you work for exploit you
for profit. You are tired of being told that bare minimum
medical care is all you are entitled to. You are tired of
utility companies exploiting for a profit the necessities of
modern life. You are tired of being told only the rich may have
access to a superior education." He then paused once again.
After the pause he once again continued, "Next month there will
appear on the ballot state wide two amendments to the
Constitution of the Confederate State of Missouri. The first
amendment will allow the Missouri Department of Labor to buy
under right of eminent domain any company in excess of 100
employees and then subsequently turn that company over to the
existing employees, including management, who will each gain one
share in the company. No such company will afterwards be allowed
to sell stock and it will be up to the Employee Owners how the
company will be managed. The second amendment will nationalize
and make tax supported all public utilities and health care
institutions. No longer will the citizens of Missouri have to
fear losing the lights, heat, water, phone service, or any type
of healthcare. All these institutions will fall under either the
Missouri Public Service Commission or the Missouri Department of
Health and Human Services."

((Because it's one of those things that you stop and think....
Really? Why would this happen? To what point would it happen?
For what reason is it happening? What on earth?
There's only one reason you did that, and that's to just try and
mess with me. If I hadn't told you what was going to happen,
would you have killed the King in such a way? Or would you have
done what you did in the same way? And would you have told me
how the King didn't know before the soldiers in the same way
that you did? Just wondering.))

OOC: I didn't react to it because I was confused. The King
showed up here for this event but was apparently killed in
another thread? Everything that is going on in that other thread
I was assuming was going on in Heavenly Paradise.
