"Yes, thank you. I am quite pleased with your reasoning, and
perhaps I shall put forth a bill for those purposes which you
mentioned. I am not here to rob Sparta of their weapons, as I
believe that a state has the sovereign right to build whatever
weapons they wish, in most cases. The only thing that I am
somewhat opposed to is chemical and biological weapons, for the
simple reason of the horrific effects they have on innocents."

weapon... is it for the same reasons?" Arik piped up, still
standing at the pool table. He played with the pool cue a little
and puffed his cigar before turning around to face the men
there. "Yes, why have you?"

"Mr. Arik, your brash question does not phase me. To be honest
with you, we have. I will not lie. When we learned that Sparta
had such weapons, we ourselves became afraid. We needed an
equalizer. We couldn't allow ourselves to be sitting ducks, in
such close proximity to a nuclear power. Tell me you wouldn't
have done the same. We have nuclear weapons, but they are for
defense and deterrent purposes. How DEN figured out so quickly
doesn't surprise me."

Langdon positioned the cue ball and broke. The balls went
bouncing around the table with the 6 ball falling into a corner
pocket. Looking at the spread of the balls Langdon called, "9
ball, side pocket", then made his shot. He then called, "12
ball, corner pocket", this time it was obvious he had put to
much English on the ball and narrowly missed. Taking a sip of
his Mint Julep he said, "Your turn Mr. Arik, you have the solid
balls. It would seem I have done some of your work for you."
Rep. Langdon then took another CM$20 bill out of his pocket and
signaled the bar keep over to the pool table. The bar keep then
returned with a bottle of bourbon and four glasses. Setting the
glasses in front of each of the men watching or participating in
the game he then filled them with bourbon. Taking a drink out of
his and setting it on the table he said, "My drink had become to
sweet for this conversation, I believe it requires something a
little stiffer." He then continued, "As all of you, longtime
members of this confederation, are aware my state has had a long
history of supporting the legitimate government of a state if it
should come under insurrection. We would do it for Gondor, we
would do it for Sparta, we would do it for DEN." Picking his
drink up he took another sip then sat it back down on the table,
"As everybody here is no doubt aware, we are involved in such a
conflict in Texas where we are attempting to put down an
insurrection by a group hoping to proclaim a 'King of Texas'.
Now imagine our surprise when one of our army surgeons pulled a
Spartan bullet out of one of our boys. All this time we thought
we were fighting a bunch of East Texas good ole boys with
delusions of nationhood. We don't want to think that Sparta
would actually sell weapons to someone attempting to kill
Missourians, why that would be beneath contempt. But we are at a
complete loss to figure out how these rebels got a hold of
them." Leaning his pool cue slightly towards the Spartan
Representative he asked,"Would you have any idea how this
managed to happen?"

Baroness Honey Baroda eyed the representatives from Gondor and
Sparta with contempt as she eyed their conversation. She was
able to make out what they were saying and she was not pleased.
She slid out of her booth and approached them both.
"Building nukes to stop nukes Rep Gray? You shy away from
chemical weapons but do you think a nuke will only tickle your
enemies? How hypocritical."
"Neither of your nations care about the NCSA. And until you
remove your nukes we are at the mercy of you megalomaniacs."
She continued to eye both with suspicion. "Mr Kennedy you can
kindly let your ruler know West Phoenicia will not agree to your
secret deal of building any Spartan bases on West Phoenician
land."

"Baroness, that is because chemical weapons kill you in a far
more painful way than a nuclear weapon, usually. That is, unless
you get radiation poisoning. But all the same, chemical weapons
are quite horrid with their effects on the human body, and to a
point in my opinion, worse in total effect than a nuclear
weapon. And to call me a megalomaniac is quite harsh I'd say.
Gondor did not develop these weapons lightly. While you sit
there and try to pass anti-nuke legislation, Gondor actually has
what keeps evil at bay. A deterrent. Sometimes when a person
sends an attack dog after you, then you must have a guard dog to
counter it, no? Same idea."

"You cannot call Sparta evil when you yourself have created such
weapons of mass destruction that it could kill even soul in the
NCSA? Who truly are the evil ones.
It will achieve nothing. Except kill us all.
We who want peace will not sit idly by and let Sparta and Gondor
bully the rest of us with your nukes. Because that is what it
will come down too. Happened before it will happen again.

happened before because who else has ever had nukes? We have
both stated they are defensive weapons."
