Keeping Your Account Safe![/CENTER]
We've all seen one. A person saying they got "hacked" and
begging for moderators to help them get their account back. The
best way to fix getting "hacked" is not to get "hacked" in the
first place. So here is a guide on how to keep your account 100%
secure. I have ordered these from the most obvious to the least
obvious.
[*]Never tell anyone your password and I mean anyone.Tell no one
your password.
[*]Do not share your account. Another obvious one but so many
people fall for it. Whether you share your account so you can
get a cool colored name, or to eat pie together, sharing an
account is just begging to be scammed and allowing the person to
change your password and lock you out.
[*]Use a strong password. Passwords are one of the weakest forms
of security available so it's only natural that you should use a
strong password and ensure hackers cannot guess what it is.
Bad passwords:
- Using your username as a password (duh)
- Obvious passwords, like "password" or "123"
- Passwords containing 3 or less digits. It's easy for an
automated program to guess. It would take around 30 minutes for
a good computer to try all the combinations if automated.
- Using a bank pin (If they guess your password then that's the
least of your problems)
- Random letters or numbers (While it's a good password, you'd
have to write it down to remember it, see below for why this is
a bad idea)
Good passwords have:
- 8 or more digits.
- A combination of letters AND numbers to thwart automated
programs.
- A cryptic meaning. Naming your password after what you had for
dinner last night is a good one.
[*]Do not use the password on any other site. Especially if
you're using the same username. People sometimes create forums
so they can find out the password for your account on other
websites. You should use a unique password for each website for
maximum security.
[*]Do not respond to PMs claiming to be a moderator/Slayden/any
site administrator. Moderators will have no need for your
password, so if the PM threatens to ban you, ignore them. If
they are going to ban you, they'll just do it.
[*]Do not write your password down in real life or on the
computer. One of your friends could find your password and then
claim your account for themselves.
[*]Scan your computer regularly. Keyloggers can be downloaded as
"Trojan Horses". This is a program you download without knowing,
that has a purpose that is detrimental to the running of your
computer. For example. You download a program that says it's a
forum hack. You install it but what you don't know is that it's
also bundled with a keylogger.
A keylogger is a program that runs (most of the time invisible)
on your computer. It is a program that logs your keystrokes and
mouse movements and saves it to a log. Most keyloggers are
programmed to send this log to the person that gave you the
keylogger so they can see everything you type (Including your
username and password). This kind of security risk is rife on
games such as Runescape, World of Warcraft.
If you don't have something that can detect keyloggers, then
download this program. In my opinion it's the best malware
remover on the market. It's also free and the features you do
have to pay for are the ones you don't need to use. It also
doesn't run in the background like lagton and mclaggie does.

One more thing to note about keyloggers is that if you do get
your account back. They can steal the account yet again! Because
all your keystrokes are being logged still! Hence the need for a
reliable scanner/remover.
You can avoid keyloggers by not downloading random crap off the
internet. Such as toolbars (Trust me, it's very risky to get a
third party toolbar), cursors (Cursormania is crawling with
malware) and other stuff that you don't really need.
Adding an email address or registering via an email address will
provide an extra layer of security. Some sites also have
recovery questions where you can prove your the owner of the
account if someone steals your password. I recommend answering
these recovery questions truthfully.
If all else fails, contact a site administrator and provide them
with enough information for them to know it is you. They are not
obligated to help you, as you are the one who got yourself in
that situation.

I cannot give you a new password. If you lose your account I say
it's your fault.
EDIT: I can give you a new password however it is your fault if
you lose it via hacker or something
EDIT 2: The minimum number of characters for a password is 4.
