How should we deal with poverty?

I believe more money should be distributed to a larger range of
charities and so on..
What do you think?

I don't think there is a right way of doing it.
Doing something large to help the poverty my make something else
go bankrupt.

Give handouts (not really). There will always be some people who
will be too lazy to do things to support themselves. Better
option is to change the mentality with people living in poverty
to be more proactive and not give up. That being said, if people
are to fall into poverty, this allows them to get back out. When
people are in poverty for a longer time, it becomes more
difficult to get them out, and I don't think much can really be
done other than short-term benefits, which are highly
ineffective.

Unfortunately what you say is true, once you really get deep
into poverty it gets hard to escape from and usually the effects
can be dreadful.. I agree though, changing the mentality of
people would really benefit them financially and physically,
though we should also get more people to wake up to the poverty
issue and start getting them to donate to charities and so on.
Then again poverty is so hard to get rid of, especially with the
capitalistic mindset of most people and corporate enterprises.
Honestly I wish I could do more to help, free rice is pretty

One of the best ways to deal with poverty in a country is to
make jobs for people, but that isn't very easy unless the
economy of the country is in great shape, so I'd say the best
way to get rid of poverty would be to try to make the economy
grow. In the U.S. for example, that would involve getting rid of
currency manipulation (which is one of the ways china makes its
exports so cheap).

Yup I agree, more jobs would greatly help counteract poverty.
Though most people who live in poverty don't have an education,
making it a lot harder to apply for job applications, instead we
should have sort of 'community helping' jobs which are only
available to the unemployed. This way they make money and help
the people around them.

Well, usually a good paying job requires a good education, which
many people in poverty don't have. also for more jobs to be
available im sure it'd cost others money.
