Asking doesn't really help improve your chances in any way. If
Slayden thinks you'll do well, you might have a chance.

I can only assume that asking kills your chances, you'd better
of discuss it with the owner. It's a serious job that has to be
taken seriously, I doubt Slayden would just give the proposition
away to new members. Though if you really do want to help the
community then you could apply to become a Community Helper, but
then again it's up to the owner. Just stay active for now c:

It's already been said, but asking generally ruins your chances
of becoming a mod. these are from slaydens blog on jv:

Asking willz lowz your Chancz to even Moderate a individual
forum zi How do you become a few tips:
Following the rules, regardless of whether you want to be a mod
or not, is always something you should do.
It makes sense that the people enforcing the rules of PR2 will
have to know and follow them too, right? PR2 mods actually have
way more rules than normal members do.
Maturity is also something we look for in our moderatorz. We
want someone who can handle pressure, and of course someone who
has a sense of humor and a good personality. All of this ties up
to maturity. You don't need to be uptight and never laughing at
jokes, but I'm sure you can see from our current PR2 moderators
that we like to see professionalism.
Proper grammar really does get you further. I'm not going to
sugarcoat it, we're not going to select someone with improper
grammar to be a role model for the chat. It makes sense though
if you think about it. If you turned in a resume to a potential
employer, you're going to double/triple/quadruple check it for
spelling errors, and then again! (at least if you're serious
about the job) Of course there's a pretty big difference between
that and PR2, but you get my point. Proper grammar and the
ability to form coherent sentences does help your chances. Now,
this doesn't mean you should use fancy words in crazy long
sentences to seem sophisticated. Just be yourself and try to be
understandable.
Helping others is rewarding. You should do it for you, and for
the person you're helping. In this day and age I know we don't
"help little old ladies across the street" (nor could we over
the internet, obviously), but you get my point. Going out of
your way even for just a minute to help a friend or someone in
need of assistance... well that's a quality that stands out in
people. It's admirable when they do it just for the sake of
being helpful, not because they want to get noticed. Some
examples of being helpful are: Someone asks your opinion on
their level or someone wants to know where they can get that
brand new Moon Hat. (being helpful does not mean you have to
fold for everyone who asks or anything like that)
Don't be a mini-mod. Going back to "be yourself", nobody without
a blue name is a moderator, and so nobody should be threatening
others with a ban or warning. Even something like "Cut out the
spam." should be something that only moderators should say. A
little "We don't really like spam here. :[" is alright once in a
while, but for the most part you should be ignoring the people
who bother you. You don't have mod powers, and you won't ever be
if you pretend you already are one.
I'm sure there's more to include, but these are the basics to
what we look for in a moderator. Everyone in PR2 is awesome in
their own way, but not everyone will get a chance to be modded
no matter how qualified they are.
Sometimes it just does not work out for one reason or another.
