Legend of Korra 2nd season episode 1 & 2
DIR By: Flying Rocket
Date: September 15, 2013, 6:57 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
So the second season of Legend of Korra started last Friday, and
I watched them... and... well... the first episode, besides the
humorous moments between the Tenzin family and Bolin was a waste
of time. The second episode was better as something actually
occurred, but it also reminded me that I just do not like Korra
and Mako as characters, they annoy the hell outta me. I'm
hoping that they keep up with the Tenzin family and Bolin's
misadventures, as that's the only thing really going for this
season so far.

I haven't even seen the first season due to the fact I couldn't
stand the animation. It was way different than the original or
at least to me it was. Not a discussion, but i have some
questions sorry.
Do you suggest looking past that fact and continue to watch?
Is the story anywhere near as great as the original?

@Lord Second: It did, two episodes aired this last Friday, came
out of nowhere really.
@Dango: The animation, I feel, is actually quite good, if
slightly more stiff than the original. One of the problemsare
Korra and Mako, two of the worse characters ever to grace the
Avatar universe. So grating, and god damn annoying. The plot
for the first season also suffered because of these two
characters, although Amon and Tarrlock, I found, were the only
two convincing and sincere characters, with Bolin and the Tenzin
characters mostly serving as comedic fodder unfortunately. Lin
Beifong and Asami were Mary Sues for the most part, which is
another shame. The comedy, though, is good. Not sure if that's
the purpose for which you watch this show or not...
My biggest problem, though, is that the plot of this new show is
compose of essentially twelve episode long vignettes, meaning
there's no true connections from one season to the next, as far
as I can currently tell. Given that you haven't watch season
one yet, I won't rant as to why I view that as the main problem,
but instead suggest that you watch an episode or two, and see if
how they designed the characters synch with you. If you find
them more convincing than I did, then possibly watch all of
them. Otherwise, just watch the originals, as they are better
than this show.

I'm in the same boat with Dango about being turned off almost
immediately by the animation change and I actually gave it a
little try, only to be turned off completely by the characters
and I found the plot a bit unconvincing. Although I love
closure, I was probably a bit too excited to hear that they were
going to continue the avatar universe to the point where it was
a flat out disappointment to see the direction they took with
it. I guess this constitutes more as actual series discussion
rather than episode discussion, but @Rocket- are you implying
that the seasons would actually lack fluidity and continuity?

@Kogane: It honestly feels like it, especially because there
was originally only going to be one season of the new show.
Now, that doesn't mean there isn't any continuity or fluidity
between the seasons, but I feel as if there's no larger purpose
at the moment for Korra to develop. It's not like in Naruto
where Naruto's long term goal is to become the Hokage or Sasuke
to avenge the Uchiha clan, Korra doesn't seem to have a long
term goal that I can see (she's already the Avatar).
(season one ending spoilers)
She unlock air bending from losing all other bending by
Amon, and then learned both energy bending and regained her
other bending from the ending spiritual connection with
Aang
Instead, the show's creators decide to essential make her a tool
to expand the plot by making her excessively dumb in order to
make her have a purpose for season two. Ugh.
Essentially, although it does have some fluidity in terms of
character progress from season to season, I feel as if there's
no true point of having a second season of this show. Again,
it's only on episode two so far, so I'm probably rushing to this
conclusion.

I think I understand what you mean. It's an annoyance to me
when there's not a central plot that they can keep going for
multiple seasons, yet the episodes keep coming out regardless
(often at the expense of development that has already taken
place.)
Based on what you say, I'll probably give season 1 a good
chance, but pass on 2 as if it's just filler content. I
appreciate the response btw. +

@Kogane: As I said before, I could be rushing my conclusion, as
I sure hope that this season gains a character as interesting as
Amon or Tarrlock to keep the show continuing. Already, though,
the entire season's s fate seems to be in the Unalaq character,
and honestly, he seems to be the stereotypical cold-military
type character. Hopefully he gains depth though... and that the
creators show why they agreed to make a second season.

Yeah.. I hope they aren't just cashing in, for their sake as
well as the audience that is being abused

Episode three ended up not changing my mind on anything at all.
If anything, it made me more annoyed of Korra than before.
