Chapter 683: Obi?! MADS?!

Ight, since I haven't done one of these in what, a hundred
years? This one's going to be long as hell. Get your glasses
out, pop some popcorn, and prepare to pretend you've read all of
this crap ^-^
I'll compact it as much as I can.
1. Sasuke's lost in the Sahara!
I actually find this whole thing kind of funny. Kaguya's
able to do this dimension hopping crap, but isn't making it
effective whatsoever. Look how the Kamui technique allowed body
parts to be moved around. You could quite literally give take
somebody out back and beat their brains out. Kakashi had his
rounds punching Obito's gut and everything...
Ideally since this looks like a more advanced space/time
technique (note Obito's reaction to it), one would think Kaguya
could drop Sasuke directly inside lava as opposed to 60 feet
above it to prevent any chance of him surviving. Her goal is
separating them, and while that is consistent with most of the
series, it feels like Kaguya's unnecessarily short-changing
herself. Why stop there? If you can dwarf MADARA UCHIHA + THE
POWER OF THE SAGE in power why are you toying with them just
like he was?
I just feel like what's going on is making it worthwhile
for Kishimoto to have thrown this arc off the deep end by bubble
bubble bubble popping an overpowered, god-tier antagonist.
I can't wait for this bit to be animated - I'm going to
bring back emo AMV's starting with Boulevard of Broken Dreams
with Sauce's pissiness in the desert and Naruto's cute attempt
to save him :D
2. Sakura's making her move on the revived Obito?!?! (My
chest-bump freakout reaction was correct yay)
(This is so long I'm gonna try to compact it)
Just throwin Obisaku some heat here sorry. ;)
This section is actually focused on two things -
Sakura vs. Kishimoto and Obito's characterization.
Sakura's struggle against uselessness is well-archived over the
years. In a perfect world, the work and I mean absolute WORK
Sakura put in during and after the time-skip combined with the
talents she had during and prior to Part I would have blossomed
(pun intended) and been showcased beautifully many many many
many mANy times over by now during actually vital points in the
overarching story. We don't live in a perfect world, and neither
does Sakura.
What we have seen since the end of the Pain arc in terms of
characterization on Kishimoto's part has been downright pathetic
at times with only a few notable exceptions, mainly with
characters who had little real exposition by that point (The
Hokages, The Cloud-nin, Mads).
A heavy toll ended up being taken on people like Sakura, who
basically became Tsunade II with less and less individuality to
her credit until she finally got two or three panels of
spotlight- and promptly wasted them doing uncharacteristically
stupid and illogical things (lunging at an enemy when you're
both a strategizer and the medic for christ's sake). Flaunting
about Sakura's feelings for Sasuke and all this crap when she's
holding her own running around during the apocalypse seriously
damages the ability for her to even be taken seriously.
Throughout the years, I've ranged from indifference to outright
disdain for Sakura (I was always more of a fan of Temari and
Hinata, who maintained their distinct individualities and in the
case of Hinata underwent significant development despite lack of
screentime)
but the INJUSTICE HAS TO BE STOPPED.
The use of Team 7, with all its parallels and their
presence in this current situation while everybody else is
literally being sapped of life until only white poopoo* is left,
is really becoming worn out because it feel like Nar/Sas is the
only thing that's important to Kishimoto. Taking this
reincarnation route made things worse - it's spelling out both
how insignificant and useless everybody except for Naruto and
Sasuke are, and how Naruto's actually more a result of destiny
than of hard work. Naruto himself has for a very long time now
been turned into the Chosen One, the Messiah, the Child of
Prophecy and Destiny. He isn't the average untalented idiot who
through determination, a chip on his shoulder, a bit of luck and
the help of Mr. JIRAIYA set out to prove the world wrong and
become Hokage any longer. He's not the guy people relate to
anymore. He's walking around saying "idk man i think i can do
anything" and is literally mopping up the deaths Kishimoto has
become unable to cope with. Sasuke only benefits from not having
as much time in the spotlight as Naruto - I'm sure he too would
be this bad if we had to focus on him for a few weeks. I thank
the Lord every day he still has questionable motives.
(Here's the segway) I don't think any character received
the brutal end of Kishimoto's characterization sword as bad as
Obito. The original Obito is a Naruto parallel with some
Sharingan and a knack for befriending the elderly who makes the
ultimate sacrifice for the sake of his friends. Overall, looking
at Team Minato, it's another parallel with a tragic ending. Rin
is purely man rage-fuel and at times it does seem like Minato
wasn't exactly the best sensei you could ask for - although it
makes one hell of a man out of Kakashi in the end. When I said
it was more than pushing it for Obito to be carrying out
premeditated murders of his Sensei and his pregnant wife,
killing family members, innocent men, women, and children
including elders, the kidnapping and attempted murder of infant
Naruto, taking advantage of Nagato at what literally would have
been rock bottom for him, running an organization of pure evil
(and pure badass) which specializes in kidnapping people,
locking them in a big rock and holding a 3-day long cult ritual
which sucks a giant living mass of chakra out of them until the
person dies and using a plant-poop-man to dispose of evidence
only one to two years after sacrificing himself in order to save
Rin and Kakashi, what I wasn't anticipating was that Kishimoto
was going to do a complete 180 which is almost even more absurd
and unrealistic. (Dat sentence)
Obito needed one TnJ to turn back into who he originally
was. Even if it's very, very hard to accept the insanity Obito
fell into after seeing Kakashi's arm through Rin's heart in its
entirety, it's much much MUCH harder to think that all of that
wouldn't have literally sapped any remnant of a well-meaning kid
away. This dude literally choked Konan to death and if you know
me you know that was probably the hardest (although extremely
well-executed -le puns-) part of the series for me ...
Anyways, my point is that you have Madara being replaced
and the new villain might as well be Madara... and you have
Obito here, a cleansed man after a long night of fighting and
succumbing to Naruto's almighty TnJ... If Kishi was going to
cram in a new character just for shits n giggles, it should have
been here, in Obito's place, via an Edo or someone escaping the
dimension or something...
3. Lol Hashirama's possessive over Madara's lower half- wait
WAIT MADARA'S LOWER HALF?@!
When I first read through this sequence, with Hashi sitting
too-close to Madara's legs and everyone just kinda around like
..well what do we do now?... I gave it a giggle and tried to put
myself into their place like... they're in another dimension, so
what are they supposed to do. Then when Tobirama talked about
possibly Edo Tensei'ing Madara, the thought of excitement at a
revived Madara finally opened my eyes - MADS STILL EXISTS RIGHT
NOW #!%@^&
My crusade I'm leading right now is both an extension of
the Madara fanboy I've been for years and what I see as a total
injustice to the entire Naruto universe- Kishimoto didn't know
what to do with Madara (he said so himself) and as a result he
simply retconned the story so he could replace him with someone
nobody would care about.
The implications of a Madara reunion here actually get
interesting here, however, if you don't fanboy the hell out of
this situation. I'll map this one out:
a.) Madara is dead, or atleast qualifies as such so that he can
be resummoned by Tobirama via Edo Tensei. This presumably puts
him under the Hokage's control to a degree if Madara comes out
as he was prior to absorbing the Juubi and the Shinju, since
Hashirama and Tobirama are together, own the contract, and can
likely tag him and contain him. (If anyone can it's the two of
them together). Now it's Shinobi Alliance vs. Madara vs. Kaguya
vs. Obito vs. Kishi and there is a whole lot of cool directions
that can be taken. Why is this unlikely? Two words:
more writing.
b.) Madara is found to be alive but is still unable to assert
dominance over the intruder of his body. This would likely
initiate the Mads-vs.Kaguya version of Get Outta Ma Bodayyyy. I
forsee a lame waste of chapters just to get rid of Kaguya the
ugly way. Why is this *hopefully* unlikely? I think Kishi's
scared of Madara.
Finally, we have c.) Madzy is found to be alive and fully aware,
and either his body eventually regenerates or he overcomes the
Kaguya thing without much trouble. This could end up in the same
logjam as a.) but it would be much more badass. Remember that
the Sage is there and I haven't brought my Hagoromo theory to
this forum yet ((REMIND ME)) but basically I think he hates
Madara and may try to put out the flame before it can really get
going.
4. I've gone on so long I don't remember what comes next
Well, thanks for reading. If there are any
thoughts/comments/disagreements (or agreements <3) or ANYTHING
please don't hesitate to reply- I'm thirsty as hell and I'll be
here to satisfy ya. It's almost hard to believe I can pipe one
of these up every week but I didn't do any Tumbling on chapter
night so I had a lot in me.
Now off I go to my Top Ramen and Kimi Ni Todoke marathon.
