Ehhhh... I'll give it 3.5/5 although I think I know what you
mean.
Everyone knows I detest Naruto's happy friend pal association of
sharing overpowered crap much more than the next guy, and to
this day I give Rikudobirama a hard time for making TnJ, but
here's why I give this chapter some good points (some of this is
hypothetical and depends where Kishi takes this)
this
is an essay
They've been blowing farts about Naruto and friendship
every time the fight between him and Obito has come to a talky
standstill. Obito obviously lived with similar ambitions to
Naruto during his youth and the tragic incidents in his life
made him go back on his convictions and ultimately become the
monster he is today. He's been alone since the senile Madara
died, having nothing more than accomplices who he mainly
utilized and covered himself from for more than half of his
life. He became the either catalyst or direct cause of the
deaths of his mentor, his clan, and most of his village
(debatable whether Pain would have eventually exacted revenge on
Konoha or not without his course of actions post-Yahiko).
Naruto has stood almost completely firm with his little
beliefs and his ninja way since the beginning of the series.
He's gone from the pariah to everybody's revered hero (in a
sense, a reversal of the antagonists in the series). As such, he
has no reason to believe that it's impossible to do what's right
no matter the circumstance, as long as you have comrades guiding
you along the way.
This chapter added to Naruto's unchecked ability to give
infinite energy to everybody
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU
>.>
and they're trying to make us believe Obito's down
and out (for the 348948th time) but he isn't.
Quite frankly, the only real gem in the chapter is kind of
hypothetical - it's the vision Obito had which distracted him as
he clashed with NaruxSasuxlovexkawaiisempaii~~~<3. For those of
you who didn't obviously see it, 1. why are you reading this 2.
you're a noob, Obito literally witnesses 'what could have been,'
based on his actual return to Konoha after he initially
abandoned Madara's cave. Going to find Rin, seeing her dead by
Kakashi's hand, learning the truth and still going back to
Konoha would have presumably (based on the vision) ended with
Obito becoming the Godaime Hokage. His dream was never actually
out of reach, even after being crushed, losing an eye and being
sidelined for an entire year. Obito's real intention at the time
was to go back to his friends.
What's eye-catching, to me about the vision he had was that it
occured just after the chapter made particular emphasis on
Kakashi's Sharingan being connected to Obito's- to the extent of
all of his senses. This is where the hypotheticals come into
play. Kakashi knew the old Obito best (with possibly the
exception of Minato), and further, by seeing the current Obito,
he could definitely have seen the old Obito ultimately having
succeeded in his dream had he not given up and sided with
Madara. What could have (and what I really REALLY hope is the
case is, is that Kakashi planted that thought/vision into
Obito's head (hence, Obito noting that the vision was
involuntary) in order to show what he sees as the tragic death
of a good person's heart. Given the course of events, Obito
probably could have ended up using his cheap Kamui crap to end
up Hokage...
So anyways, if Kakashi is planting this into his head, then
it's a very rare combo of Kishi's worst two tactics- the
flashback and the talk no jutsu, being averted for something
much more chilling- seeing that which Obito really ended up
giving away in order to be where he is now. It was basically on
a whim that he was where he was, when he was, and that he chose
to go back to Madara could have definitely been influenced on a
momentary perception of what happened. Surely he may have at
many times regretted his decisions. That brings the next-best
hypothetical situation for the flashback- it's that of Obito's
true dream awakening as the flower begins to bloom.

It's still very possible that at this point, regardless of
the infinite power Obito has amassed, and all the things he got
to go his way, that he lives with a nagging regret and wonders
what he left behind when he turned tail and went back to the
oldie's cave.
I think the case can be made that in a lot of ways, the old
Obito was never truly finished off. He may very well be there,
twisted and corroded by Madara's perspective and training. I
figure this because at the root of all that he's doing, in
reality the goal he has is (like Pain's was), a way to create
peace for the world.
What he's trying to make for everybody, on the surface,
really is a good thing. He wants to erase losing from the world.
He's gonna get rid of clan strife. He's gonna give everybody the
things they desire most. His dream is, in essence a way for him
to benefit himself with a permanent escape from harsh reality
while also affording people the same luxury. However, in spite
of all that, nobody seems to be on his side.
Even though it would be easy, painless, and surely enjoyable for
all involved, nobody is standing behind Obito's goal. No one
wants to forego the current broken world for one made at his
discretion. Even in a hopeless and terrible time, everybody is
still willing to sacrifice their lives rather than to live in
his dream world. Honestly, that's probably a bit of a shock to
him. I'm sure he set all of this up, over a span of nearly
twenty years, never anticipating that he would face stark
resistance not just from the establishment, but from literally
every shinobi in the world.
Despite doing what he thinks would be the best thing for
everybody, Obito still finds himself pitted up against
everybody, much like when he was the face of a terrifying
criminal organization. What he's standing against now, is that
Will of Fire which he himself had once embodied so well. I think
that some of that will lived on inside of Obito as he began the
preparations of this Eye of the Moon plan. He went to very great
lengths to be able to make this dream realm for everybody, and
still not even ONE person wants to do it with him. Everybody
else values their place in the real world far too much to lose
it, even if it means foregoing a chance to start fresh in a
realm where all their dreams would come true.
In all reality, this vision is significant in that it's showing
Obito that he was never actually denied a place in the current
realm. In fact, a very special role was set aside for him in
this world: shinobi, friend, hero, mentor, inspiration, and even
Hokage. He had become so sure of his role as Madara's protege
that he probably never realized what he could have been capable
of back in Konoha, and it only lived on in the mind of the old
Obito that had been repressed for so long. He had become twisted
by the tide of war, disillusioned by the dangerous perspective
of a pariah-by-choice, and disgruntled after losing the one he
loved, causing him to sell out his wonderful destiny on a whim
to live behind a mask, as the mere pawn responsible for carrying
out the dirty work of a man whose life was ultimately a failure.
^ What this all would imply is that if the vision is from
Obito's conscience, that he is now realizing the price he ended
up paying for listening to Madara. He really was ruined by the
man, and it would set up the Obito vs. Madara clash in a deep
and riveting way IMO. And if it's from Kakashi, while it could
serve the same purpose, as it definitely puts that into Obito's
mind, then the fact that it allowed Sasuke and Naruto to cut
through him makes sense because of how deep the implication of
that vision really is to Obito. Anyone who really read all of
this deserves a big ass cookie. I love you for reading all this
<333 (nobody did...)
Madara and Obito clashing seems almost inevitable now based on
all this crap. Any other interpretation of the vision would be
basic kishi crap and we're all screwed if we have to have Naruto
tell us what we can imply from the panels provided to us in this
chapter. If they don't go through with either of these then ..
idk I quit
tl;dr that vision means alot more than just omg look panels with
obitokage weeee tumblr tumblrrr

^+Karma to that, great read right there. I wonder if anyone
else notices Obito's sudden hesitance though, or if Kishi will
follow through with that. Or if it'll be just like 646 and
Naruto's birthday all over again, where it ends up going nowhere
but three-four wasted chapters of more set-up.
Honestly, that's this manga's biggest problem:
Unnecessary set-up to the point that any tension is ruined.
Making it go from great tension, to facedesk.

If they brush aside the hit NaruSasu landed on him and just
start piling on his shield again then I'm really done lol
Kakashi can serve a good realistic role in this fight without
leaving the Kamui, which he shouldn't have the energy to do (he
should really be dead). What needs to happen starting in 652 is
Madara poucning on this opportunity since Obito is wounded in
mind and body. The Juubi itself could prob even try to break
out. This would weaken Obito enough to lose 1 on 1 against
Madara in a catastrophic clash in which Obi loses and has his
body used as the vessel to revive Madara as the Juubi Jin..
let's face it we need some closure here.. they could pull this
off and fix obitos character without either Naruto's TnJ or his
Rasengan
