English Premier League – gap widening between the best and the r

The first 10 EPL games have thrown up some very interesting
stats. Based on this, gathered that the disparity is growing
between the top and lesser clubs.
Is the EPL about to follow the La Liga situation where there is
a huge gulf in quality between the top 4 to 6 clubs and the rest
       of the league?
Twitter sports writer, Huw Davies, shared the below stats which
       paints a graphic picture.
This season, the sides placed 2nd to 7th have amassed more
points over 10 games than in any of the previous EPL seasons.
As an example, no other EPL team in the history has accrued more
points in 2nd place than Liverpool have now (26). The same holds
true for all teams down to Watford in 7th place.
Davies goes on to illustrate that the top half of the EPL table
averaged 66% of the available league points for the period 1992
       – 2018, with the highest being 71%.
This season, the average has risen to 74% after the 10 games –
       an all-time high.
In previous seasons under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool had a good
record against fellow top 6 sides but struggled to beat some of
       the minnows.
This season, they’ve rolled over all the lesser sides and only
dropped points to Manchester City and Chelsea.
Perhaps it is no surprise this trend follows on from last season
where Manchester City set an incredible pace and achieved a
       record points haul.
Title challengers would have noted the new level required and
have strategised the best way to achieve this.
As a result, the top guns have gone all out in the transfer
market and their tactical analysis to ensure points dropped
against the minnows are at an absolute minimum.
The sad reality for clubs outside the top 6 is that this trend
will be hard to break – revenue streams for the bigger clubs
dwarf those of the smaller ones so they’re in a position of
power to continuously attract the best players.
