       Damaturu College Adjudged Best in Neco Exams

       Damaturu — Students of the Nigeria-Turkish International College
       (NTIC) Damaturu, Yobe State, have been adjudged the best
       candidates in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination
       conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
       In letters addressed to the College, Lagos-based LearnAfrica
       Education Development Foundation said the institution's students
       emerged as the best performers in the recent Senior Secondary
       Certificate Examination conducted by the National Examinations
       Council (NECO).
       The three letters titled 'LearnAfrica-NECO Excellence Awards
       2016' signed by the Chairman of LearnAfrica's Board of Trustees,
       Chief Emeka Iwerebon, particularly noted the excellent
       performance of three NTIC candidates who earned the top three
       positions in the recent June/July NECO School Certificate
       examinations.
       "We are pleased to inform you that LearnAfrica Education
       Development Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm
       of Learn Africa Plc, has concluded plans to honour a student of
       yours, Mr. Bulama Mohammed Gaji, with an award of excellence for
       emerging the First Placed Candidate at the June/July 2016 NECO
       Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Yobe State,"
       one letter said.
       Similar letters were addressed to Ibrahim Abubakar Brah and
       Banjabah Abdullahi Lawan who earned second and third placements
       in the entire state through their school principal.
       Meanwhile, the Resource Centre for Human Rights & Civic
       Education (CHRICED) has emphasized the need for government and
       stakeholders to address the fallen standard of education in
       Nigeria.
       "There is no doubt that the standard of education in our country
       has eroded and fallen beyond expectation; this fact is no longer
       disputable judging from the massive failure of WAEC and NECO by
       our secondary school leavers," the Executive Director, Comrade
       Dr. Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi said in a statement.
