       Students Converged On Kwali for NIFES Conference

       Over 2,000 students from various tertiary institutions across
       the country have converged on Kwali for the annual Nigeria
       Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES) conference.
       Speaking during the opening ceremony of the conference
       yesterday, the National Director of NIFES, Mr. Rex Onu, said the
       2,000 students were drawn from 377 campuses across the country.
       He said the aim is to equip the brethren with the word of God
       that would enable them become patriotic leaders in not only
       their campuses, but in any society they might find themselves.
       He said the conference would also enhance the students to go
       back to their communities, campuses and families in order to
       bring about the transformation through the power of the gospel.
       "So these students are being equipped with the word of God that
       will enable them leave this place and become engaged to their
       community, as by so doing, there would be hope for our nation,
       "he said.
       Also speaking, the Etsu of Kwali, Alhaji Shaban Audu Nizazo,
       stressed the need for Christians to stretch their hands to their
       brothers and sisters in Islam, saying God has reasons for making
       Nigeria a plural nation.
       "The only way we can leave together is to appreciate and love
       ourselves despite our religious differences, "he said.
       The chief , therefore, urged the students to ensure they
       exhibited leadership qualities in their campuses and any society
       they might find themselves, saying they would never regret to be
       a youth since they remained disciplined.
       City News report that the Aso Rock Chaplain, Pastor Seyi Malomo,
       represented the Vice President of the Republic of Nigeria, Prof.
       Yemi Osinbajo at the event.
       The conference is expected to end on Sunday next week.
