       Bite of the North
       By: muhaku2 Date: November 24, 2011, 7:54 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The wind gnawed on the low southern slopes of the wild
northlands as it always did. Its dry groan seeped through every
crack and crevasse of the broken landscape and lashed out at the
sparse pine of the land. Usually invisible, the light powders
whipped around and gave the stalking predator some substance as
it pawed like a beast. With a keen eye, you could even watch its
form pounce across the landscape happily.
It was primal here in the north, almost enough to call it
elemental. No man-made structure marred the wild of the place,
no huts or towers or villages like in the fertile lands so far
       away.
Most people would be afraid of this feralness, but Izz only
pulled his cloak tighter around his body whilst he strolled. It
was harsh, sure, but who could really be afraid of something so
much like him? His red eyes and pointed ears surveyed the
landscape as coolly as the snow brushing around him. It was
almost as if he was waiting as he walked, but for what?

Day after day, Ella sat in her room. Her body was facing the
darkest corner, and her forehead was pressed against the wall.
Her hands rested in her lap, and her legs were cross crossed.
There was not a thing that could change the woman's mind of
moving. She was abandoned there so she would stay there. Until
suddenly her window burst into tiny little pieces. Some of the
glass pierced her skin deeply. And all Ella did was look up, as
if someone had tapped her gently on the shoulder. But once she
looked up she saw nothing, and smelt blood. THAT got a reaction
       from her.
A soft pout formed along her lips, and she used her opposite
hand to brush her fingers across the blood that formed along her
shoulder blade, she looked at her hand and her eyes widened.
Ella jumped up, and hurried to her closet door, she put on a
light jacket to cover up the blood. And she rushed down her
steps of her house and out of her house where she felt the cool
breeze, that made her smile. The breeze for others would be too
cold, but she almost purred at the feeling of it.
She began to walk and blood began to form along her light
jacket, as to where her shoulder blade would be. She didn't
notice, but one thing she did notice was a man with ears.
Raising her eyebrows, she walked towards the man, and spoke with
her soft child-like voice. "Hello sir!" Her lips curled up into
       a childish smile.

Izz took a double take as he spotted the woman heading down the
narrow path just as she raised over a small knoll. He inspected
the woman from his safe distance, still walking as if he had not
seen her. His curiosity overtook his caution his caution,
however, when he noted the light jacket draped over her frame,
and the scent of blood that exuded from her.
With a deep swallowing in his throat and a twitch of his
sensitive nose, he kept walking. It took only moments of ground
crunching underfoot before she said a bright hello that shone
through the thin frozen mists. Her cheery attitude took him
aback for the second time in moments, and it showed in his pale
face. His red eyes went wide in surprise, and his entire body
       tensed in reflex...
"Um... Hello," he replied, his body still wound like a spring,
"What brings you all the way out here?"

When the man spoke to Ella, she shrugged her shoulders and
walked around him, looking him up and down. When her gentle blue
eyes gazed towards his ears, she had the sudden urge to reach up
and touch them. She bit her lip and held back though. "Names,
Ella!" Though the light in her eyes was dim, her voice was as
bright as snow. It seemed that Ella had something on her mind,
       for she stopped speaking slowly.
When she heard his question, she nodded her head. "I'm just..
Well... No reason.." She smiled and looked behind her, hoping no
one had followed her. It had been years since she was seen out
of her house. Her blue hues darted towards him. "Why are you out
here, all along, hmmm?" Her dark brown hair shaped her face
       angelically.

Izz caught the glance up to his ears with his own bright,
lamp-like eyes and scowled slightly despite the young woman's
bright disposition. He took a tentative step backwards with
heavy boots, scuffing the half-frozen ground. His tail twitched
cautiously, his mind torn between interaction and flight. After
all, what cat enjoys having his ears touch?
"Ah... well, that is a long story," He admitted to the woman
with a toothy grin, "'Name's Izz..."

Ella smiled gently, seeing the scowl cross the cat-like man's
face, she leans forward, lifting her hands she pinched his
cheeks and drew him close to her. Her smile wide. "You're
adorable, Izz... You know that?" Chuckled softly, she moved
away, placing her hands on her hips. "Well than, a long story
eh..?" She whipped her head back, so that her eyes were facing
him. "Why not tell me I have all day.." She laughed. Ella Marie
Johnson was insane, and she was about to show him just how crazy
       she was.

With a hiss, Izz stumbled backward away from the woman. He shook
his head powerfully and pawed at the cheeks that had since grown
sore from pinching. "I have been told that a couple of times..."
the half-catfolk told the woman, all the while he took a heavy
whiff of the air around them, his curiocity taking over. Where
was this blood, and even more importantly: had he just stepped
       into a dragon's trap?
