This Tango for Two
I don't miss you at all I swear
Its just when I lay down at night and your not there
Your breath on my neck your hand on my hip
I miss how you smell and your taste on my lips
It was in the way your inhale matched mine
And how you held an exhale for a little more time
I could fall asleep there without having to try
So tell me, my darling, why must I now cry
You left me alone a mess on the ground
And now I'm just begging that you'll turn around
Look me in the eye and tell me its true
I'm not alone in this Tango for Two.
You were only a stop on the road to Mr. Right
So why am I stuck in this never ending fight
It doesn't make sense, and we all know that fact
But, I'm still balancing in this tight rope act.
If there was a button to press rewind
I'd be pressing that button a million times
I'd hold you in my arms again if I could
But you're so far from the place you once stood
So I've let you go and I'm giving it time
In hopes that one day I can still call you mine
There's a place in your heart that belongs to me
Where in my arms you long to be
But of course I'm still hoping that you love me too
So tell me I'm not alone in this Tango for Two.

The Kiss
My toes curled around the cool metal of the service-door
threshold. The skies still grey with clouds like a child whose
hands haven’t yet wiped their face after a cry. The rain water
between the ridged metal and my feet had set my knees to
wobbling to keep balance. As my unsteady legs faltered, my chest
fell into his and my hands pulled the fabric of his shirt into
bunches. The smell of the rain was still fresh on the ground,
and the chill of the sunless air only urged me to stay close to
his heat. I looked up at him, staring into his brown eyes
freckled with green flashes of color. He, in turn, gazed into
mine with an expression that made it feel as though he was
looking right into my heart; right into my soul. Me still
watching him and him still watching me, I noticed his eyes
twitch momentarily from my eyes to my lips. He pressed his
against mine. Our faces were enticed so in each other’s that
neither of us had to lean closer to create that one, perfectly
conceived, kiss.
